We have another biopic about a famous musician coming, and this time it's about Bruce Springsteen.
Springsteen, nicknamed "the Boss," is considered one of the most influential musicians in American rock. His career has spanned six decades, with a majority of his albums featuring the iconic E Street Band. After releasing his first two albums, he achieved worldwide popularity with Born to Run in 1975, and then again with Born in the U.S.A. in 1984.
Springsteen has won 20 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, an Academy Award, and a Special Tony Award. He's also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. And in 2010, Rolling Stone ranked him No. 23 on their "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list, saying, "In many ways, Bruce Springsteen is the embodiment of rock & roll."
So now, it seems like the only other thing that needs to be checked off the list is a biopic about his life and how he changed music forever.
Directed and written by Scott Cooper, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere will chronicle Springsteen's time making his 1982 album Nebraska, an album that was recorded in his New Jersey bedroom, and marked a pivotal time in his career before he was launched into global superstardom.
Cooper is best known for his Academy Award-nominated work on 2009's Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges.
Speaking about Deliver Me From Nowhere, Springsteen told Variety, "They pitched the idea, and I said, 'It sounds like fun.' It's an interesting concept, because it's only a couple of years out of my life. It's '81, '82, and centered around the creation of that particular record while I was simultaneously recording Born in the USA and also going through some personal difficulties that I've been living with my whole life. But it's fantastic."

It also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, Gaby Hoffmann, Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, Johnny Cannizzaro, and more.
Teasing Jeremy Allen White's performance, Springsteen told SiriusXM, "He sings well. He sings very well." He also added, "Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He's got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize, and he's just done a great job, so I've had a lot of fun. I've had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there."
And this takes us to now, when 20th Century Studios released the first trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere, and we get to see Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen for the first time.
Here's a side-by-side from the trailer of Jeremy performing "Born to Run, which was released in 1975, vs. Springsteen himself around the same time:

The trailer also gave us a first look at Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, who was Springsteen's longtime manager and producer. In fact, he's credited with writing in a 1974 article for The Real Paper, per the New York Times, "I saw rock and roll's future and its name is Bruce Springsteen!"

Paul Walter Hauser stars as Mike Batlan, Springsteen's recording engineer during the Nebraska sessions. He was also Springsteen's guitar tech. And while you don't get a super clear shot of him in the trailer, Johnny Cannizzaro is set to star as Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven, who is a member of Springsteen's E Street Band. Johnny is best known for starring as Nick DeVito in the film adaptation of Jersey Boys.

Ted Danson reveals he was ‘dead wrong' in thinking Shelley Long would be ‘terrible' for ‘Cheers'

Ted Danson's predictions weren't in a good place. The actor, 77, got candid on having a history of being wrong while starring on the NBC sitcom 'Cheers' from 1982 to 1993. 'I had the reputation on 'Cheers' where if I said, suggested something, pretty much—this is not self-deprecating humor or false humility—I was dead wrong,' Danson said while on the Wednesday episode of his SiriusXM podcast with Woody Harrelson, 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name,' adding, 'And if they did the opposite, it would work brilliantly.' 'I will tell Mary [Steenburgen], I'll say, 'Turn right here,' and she'll say, 'Thank you, but I know it's left.' Yeah. I'm sorry. You were right. It was right. I love being able to have an opinion, and I don't really have that much at stake because it's wrong. I'm okay to be wrong.' NBCUniversal via Getty Images 'One of my first obvious ones was 'Cheers' casting Shelley Long. And I'm going, 'Oh, no, not Shelley Long. That'd be, that's all wrong. She'd be terrible for that,'' Danson recalled. 'And she, right out of the shoot, she became this instant, brilliant character actor doing a brilliant job. Serving the entire thing perfectly. It sounds like I'm discounting all the other actors, but that first year she put us on the map. Yeah, she really did.' Long, 75, portrayed Diane Chambers in the sitcom and earned five Emmy nominations. She took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1983. Long also won two Golden Globe Awards for her role. I say it as a form of compliment, 'cause my God, she is astounding.' At the 2024 Emmys, the cast of 'Cheers' reunited on stage with Danson, Grammer, Perlman, Ratzenberger and Wendt. Rumors of a feud between Danson and Long surfaced for years, but the pair chalked it up to different acting styles. 'I ain't gonna say anything bad about my partner. I mean, my wife and I have terrible arguments sometimes, and they're kind of our business. Our relationship, Shelley's and mine, has included not being happy with each other and being happy with each other,' Danson told People in 1987. 8 Shelley Long. Alley had already passed away in December 2022 at 71 after a brief battle with colon cancer. His family rep confirmed the news to The Post, saying Wendt 'died peacefully in his sleep while at home' on May 20. The family has requested privacy during this time.' 8 'Cheers' cast. ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection Advertisement Danson shared his heartfelt sentiments after the news broke. 'I am devastated to hear that Georgie is no longer with us,' a rep for Danson shared with The Post. 'I am sending all my love to Bernadette and the children. It is going to take me a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie.' Perlman, 77, who played cocktail waitress Carla Tortelli on the show, also addressed Wendt's sudden death. 'George Wendt was the sweetest, kindest man I ever met. It was impossible not to like him,' she told The Post. 'As Carla, I was often standing next to him, as Norm always took the same seat at the end of the bar, which made it easy to grab him and beat the crap out of him at least once a week. I loved doing it and he loved pretending it didn't hurt. What a guy! I'll miss him more than words can say.' Advertisement 8 Shelley Long, Ted Danson, George Wendt on 'Cheers.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection Before the actor's passing, he reunited with his 'Cheers' co-stars, Danson and Harrelson, 63, on an August 2024 episode of their podcast. During the episode, Wendt reminisced on how he landed the role of Norm Peterson on the series. 'My agent called and said, 'You know, honey, they want you to do this 'Cheers,'' he said. ''Now you're not available,' because I had this other show ['Making the Grade'] at Paramount for CBS. Then they go, 'But they want you to come in anyway, and it's really small, though.' I go, 'Oh, okay.'' Advertisement 8 George Wendt, Shelley Long, Ted Danson in the NBC sitcom. Courtesy Everett Collection 'I read it,' he went on, 'and then they decided they were going to try to make it work out where I could do both shows, and then the other show got canceled.' Wendt quickly became a fan favorite, earning six Emmy nominations for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. The show's creators Glen Charles, Les Charles and James Burrows shared about the comedian after his death: 'George Wendt was as lovable as the character he played on 'Cheers'. It was the perfect marriage of actor and character.' 'George was a gentleman and a gentle man. Norm was America's favorite barfly, and as the theme song said, everybody knew his name. And shouted it when he walked through the door. We were blessed to have him in our lives.'

KayCyy Comes Into His Own on 'BEFORE I WAS BORN'

KayCyyhas been one of contemporary hip-hop's favorite featured artists. The Kenya-born, Saint Paul, Minnesota-bred rapper has racked up a Rolodex of industry-wide A-list co-signs and credits. Most notably, just when he started gaining momentum as a rising artist, KayCyy contributed production and writing toYe'sDondain 2021, having worked closely with the rapper since connecting through mutual friend and record executive Abou 'Bu' Thiam, who later went on to become both artists' managers. Now 27 years old, KayCyy earned a coveted Grammy nom for for Album of the Year for his work onDonda, nabbing the Grammy win for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his backing vocals on 'Hurricane.' After proving his production prowess onDonda,KayCyy continued his momentum with some more standout singles (including 'Stay Up' withLancey Foux), followed by his first-ever collaborative EP withGesaffelstein,TW20 50, which spanned a trio of tracks and dropped on streaming services in March of 2022. The project established the pair's unexpectedly effortless-sounding ease of creative collaboration, KayCyy's slick vocals sliding over the distinctly smooth Gesaffelstein melodies, laying the groundwork for the duo's second collaborative EP,TW2052,in May of 2023, which came after another impressive KayCyy mixtape,Get Used To It, which dropped in June of 2022 and features Foux and 070 Shake among others. It's not just the heavyweights, theLil Keeds andJoey Bada$$es, that KayCyy chooses to tap in with; onGet Used To It,the malleable musician chooses to champion other emerging talent like Annahstasia and Nigerian-London singer Steven Bamidele. To close out 2023, the rapper hopped onTravis Scott'sUTOPIA,offering up vocals to 'THANK GOD,' on which KayCyy wasn't credited, which prompted him to drop 'My Jeans' with original cover art that read 'I'M NOT NO BACKGROUND SINGER.' Shortly thereafter, he assistedWestside GunnwithAnd Then You Pray For Metitle track, 'AND THEN YOU PRAY FOR ME,' closing out Gunn's captivating album on a high note. He's spent the last year or so continuing to dial in his sound, showing out on more small artist features and just over two months before droppingBEFORE I WAS BORN,he dropped another collaborative mixtape with Irish musician sign crushes motorist, curating a duo they called HIIBRYD. DubbedSADDEST TRUTH,the tape leans into a more indie-inspired rap sound and arrives as another prime example of KayCyy's collaborative capabilities and the versatility of his shape-shifting sonic persona. That's all to say that each one of these collaborative mixtapes, singles, and production credits has paved the way forBEFORE I WAS BORN. Handled almost completely solo, the 13-track project is an ode to KayCyy's independence – something only made possible by the journey he took to get here. Still toeing the line between being a behind-the-scenes force from the shadows and stepping fully into the mainstream, this is likely the most lowkey KayCyy will ever be. The first trailer for the Bruce Springsteen biopic with Jeremy Allen White just dropped and I couldn't be more excited

The first full-length trailer for the new Bruce Springsteen biopic was released today, giving us our first taste of Jeremy Allen White as one of the most popular rock stars of the last 50 years. As someone born and raised in New Jersey (and who's been to his share of Springsteen concerts), the trailer has me more excited than Courtney Cox at a concert for the movie's official release this October. Instead of looking over his entire career, a la "Ray" or "Walk the Line," "Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere" captures a specific point in time: when Bruce was recording his 1982 album "Nebraska." During that era, he was already fairly popular — he had already recorded five albums, including "Born to Run" and "The River" — but had yet to reach the levels of superstardom with "Born in the U.S.A.," which didn't come out until 1984. In the trailer, we see Jeremy Allen White as the adult Springsteen, finally with some success, sitting behind the wheel of a new Camaro — complete with a 305 V8 engine, a nod to Springsteen's many car references in his songs. The trailer also shows a few flashbacks in black and white of the artist as a boy and the difficulties he faced growing up. It then cuts to his recording of the album solo in his home. At the end of the trailer, we get a taste of White's crooning abilities as he sings "Born to Run" with the rest of the E Street Band. And, I have to say, from that brief clip, he does more than a passable job at imitating the Boss's voice. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. "Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere" is directed by Scott Cooper ("Black Mass," "Hostiles") and also stars Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffman, Jeremy Strong, and David Krumholtz. It will be released exclusively in theaters on October 24.
