Police moved in to quash false rumours after an online video claimed to show 'immigrants' being moved into the camp in Newbridge, South Wales - and scout leaders were warned of the "racially-aggravated incident targeting under-18s".
A video circulated on Facebook with people posting abusive comments - and there were also false claims that Gwent Police were guarding the area.
Police confirmed some of the abuse online is now being investigated by officers.
Temporary Chief Superintendent Jason White, of Gwent Police, said: 'We're aware of several posts responding to a social media video published earlier this week in relation to a visiting Scouts group to Newbridge.
'The video was removed but some of the posts contained inappropriate and offensive language and enquiries into the nature of the posts are ongoing."
The CRAI Scout Activity Park is a campsite and activity centre in Newbridge, near Caerphilly in the South Wales valleys.
It says: "We can offer camping, hammocking and indoor accommodation. Buildings on site include The Lodge with conference room, kitchen, dormitories and toilet with shower."
But the Scouts who travelled more than 400 miles from Scotland were caught on camera at the site.
The video was taken down after police were alerted. One witness said: "It was horrible - going on about illegal immigrants flooding the Valleys.
"It was all the usual rubbish."

Police confirmed they are investigating the comments made on the video for racism offences.
Chief Supt White said: 'While that work takes place, there are some mistruths circulating on social media which we'd like to correct.
'The group featured in the video were visiting from another part of the country to attend a frequently used Scout camp in Newbridge and many of the people in the video are children.
'The site is not used to house anyone on a permanent basis.
'The site is used by our dog handlers to train our police dogs when not used for visits and our officers are not guarding the location.
'So with that in mind, we're asking everyone to consider the tone and sentiment of their language but also for people to think twice about what they might read online and look for trusted voices within our communities.'
In a statement, Scouts Cymru said: 'CRAI Scout Activity Park is an inclusive and welcoming campsite and activity centre in the South Wales Valleys offering a range of outdoor activities for youth and community groups.
'We are aware of a racially aggravated incident targeting under-18s who were leaving after visiting our activity centre and are working closely with the police to address this situation.
'We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site and will continue to take immediate and robust action against any behaviour that threatens this.'

Urgent Brit travel warning over ‘Goodnight Cinderella' scam after tourist was drugged & robbed by 3 women while on hols
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) AN URGENT travel warning has been issued to Brits after a number of tourists were drugged and robbed in Brazil in the so-called 'Goodnight Cinderella' scam. It comes after a Brit tourist collapsed unconscious on Rio de Janeiro's famous Ipanema beach last week - reportedly after taking just two sips of a drink laced with powerful drugs. Authorities say he fell victim to a well-known scheme in Brazil, where sex workers use drugs like Rohypnol and GHB to spike tourists' drinks before robbing them. The drugs - often referred to as "date rape" substances - cause blackouts, memory loss and paralysis - leaving victims vulnerable to theft and sometimes even sexual assault. These have come to be known as 'Goodnight Cinderella' schemes. read more on Brazil WHERE'S DENIS? Brit tourist missing in Brazil after suddenly vanishing from his AirBnb In this case, the victim and his friend met three women during a night out at a samba dance in Rio's vibrant Lapa district. They continued the evening at a local bar, where one of the victims was handed a Caipirinha cocktail - Brazil's national drink. Minutes later, he blacked out, waking up in hospital with a large sum of money missing from his bank account. The two Brits, who have not been named, also claim their phones were stolen. Horrifying footage shows one of the tourists staggering along the beachfront before collapsing into the sand. The women are then seen running along the street and jumping into a taxi before quickly leaving the area. Moment 'Goodnight Cinderella' thief is arrested for luring & robbing tourists Police later identified the suspects as Amanda Couto Deloca, 23, Mayara Ketelyn Americo da Silva, 26, and Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27, thanks to a video making the rounds online. Oliveira has reportedly been arrested 20 times for similar offences. The incident is part of a wider trend that has seen growing numbers of tourists fall prey to the 'Goodnight Cinderella' scheme. Earlier this month, Francini Demétrio Sitas, 23, was arrested for luring tourists before drugging and robbing a Frenchman of £13,000 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sitas, who reportedly works as an escort, is known in the criminal underworld as the 'Queen of Goodnight Cinderella', according to Rio's Special Police Station for Tourist Support. In August last year, American businessman D'wayne Antonio Morris, 43, died in a similar suspected drugging and robbery case in Brazil, reported local outlet g1. Morris had arrived in Brazil just one day before he was found dead in his rented Copacabana apartment. Surveillance footage captured two women, including prime suspect Letícia Clara Bento da Silva, 23, leaving the scene after allegedly drugging and robbing him. Police believe the women used GHB - which is particularly dangerous in higher doses, as it can cause respiratory failure and death.

An answer to one question from plain-clothed police officers led to his undoing
An answer to one question from plain-clothed police officers led to his undoing Ismail Hussain, 20, was stopped in an area known for drug-dealing. Things quickly went south for him Ismail Hussain, 20, was found in possession of more than £800 worth of cocaine split up into street deals (Image: Gwent Police) A young drug dealer who was previously found with £7,000 worth of heroin in a drug enterprise he ran with father was later discovered with more than £800 worth of cocaine. He was also found in possession of a small amount of cannabis he said was for his own personal use. Ismail Hussain, 20, was seen by plain-clothed police officers in Newport on July 14 in an area that was known for drug dealing. The defendant was stopped in Hampden Road and searched. A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday heard Hussain was asked if he had anything on him and he replied: "Yeah, crack" and pointed to his pockets. For the latest court reports sign up to our crime newsletter. During the search police seized a tub of snap bags containing white powder, one snap bag containing cannabis, £105 in cash, a black iPhone, and a Nokia burner phone. When asked to provide his phone pins Hussain refused and he was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. A search was carried out at the defendant's home where £33 was seized. The seized white powder was examined and was found to be 15.89g of cocaine which had been split up into street deals. The value of the cocaine was estimated to be between £670 and £840. Police were able to gain access to the Nokia phone and six messages were discovered indicative with drug supply and the advertisement of drugs. Hussain, of Collingwood Road, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs. The court heard he has a previous conviction for possession with intent to supply heroin after he and his father were found in possession of £7,000 worth of heroin. The defendant was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, which he is now in breach of. In mitigation Emma Harris said her client had been a user of cannabis since he was 17 years old but had progressed to harder drugs. As a result of his drug use the defendant fell into debt, found himself in difficulty, and turned to drug dealing in order to pay off his debt. Judge Richard Kember sentenced Hussain to 22 months imprisonment and added a consecutive term of one year imprisonment for the breach of the suspended sentence. Article continues below
