In Noida, new substation set to light up Film City and data centres
Noida: A 400/220 kV power substation will be built in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Authority area to meet the rising electricity demands of the upcoming Film City project in Sector 21 of the Yamuna Authority area.
The substation is expected to be ready by next year.
According to Dileep Kumar Gupta, executive engineer (EE-Transmission), UPPTCL, land for the said gas-insulated substation (GIS) was given by YEIDA in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Authority area. "Tendering has been done. It will be built for over Rs 250 crore and is expected to be ready by next year, 2026. It will cater to Film City project and other areas around Sector 28," Gupta told TOI.
He added that since the Film City project will be launched later this month, the power to the project will be given initially from the 33 kV line of the Sector 18 substation of the YEIDA area.
"A 33 kV line can give power up to 20 MW, which is quite sufficient. Later, the 400/220 kV substation, which is being built under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode through a tariff-based competitive bidding model, will be used to supply power to the Film City project and nearby sectors of the Yamuna area," said Gupta.
Additionally, some companies planning to set up their units in Greater Noida have raised power demands with UPPTCL for their upcoming units.

Heather Adkins, vice president of engineering, Google Security, said GSEC India will serve as a global lighthouse for their digital safety and security efforts. She said Google has been investing in security and safety teams in Hyderabad over the years and will be looking at investing in hiring the best talent for the centre, which is learnt to have started with around 200-250 engineers. It will also advance research in areas like Post-Quantum Cryptography through partnerships with academia. Flagging off the facility, chief minister A Revanth Reddy said the first-of-its-kind centre in the Asia-Pacific marks a pivotal moment in Telangana's journey as a global cybersecurity innovation hub. COMEDK UGET Counselling 2025: Round 1 Registration Window Extended Till June 24
Last Updated: COMEDK UGET 2025 Counselling: Students who have passed the Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) 2025 can fill out the counselling form via the official website at The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has extended the BTech round 1 counselling registration process for UGET 2025. The application will now go on till June 24. Earlier, it was scheduled to conclude on June 18. Students who have passed the Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) 2025 can fill out the counselling form via the official website at The tuition fee along with the other fees will be collected by COMEDK during the counselling. There is a cap on the skill lab fees that will be collected by individual colleges apart from the University fees, states the official notice. There are two types of upper limit of tuition fee. The tuition fee for the academic year 2025-26 are Rs 2,81,100 and Rs 2,00,000. Candidates must have completed the 2nd PUC or 12th Standard examination, including English as one of the subjects, with a minimum aggregate score of 45%. Physics and Mathematics are mandatory, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Biology, Electronics, or Computer Science. For SC, ST, and OBC candidates from Karnataka State, the minimum aggregate requirement is reduced to 40%. It is noted that this relaxation in the eligibility criteria (from 45% to 40%) is applicable only to candidates from Karnataka. Technology-driven farming emphasised
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya said that agriculture can be made profitable through the utilization of technical knowledge and modern machinery, and advised the farmers to utilise the support from the government. The Agriculture Department has organised an equipment distribution programme for the farmers at the Prakasam Bhavan on Wednesday. The collector participated in the programme as the chief guest and distributed drones, sprayers, plain and power weeders, and weed removal equipment to eligible farmers at subsidised rates. During 2024-25, agricultural equipment worth Rs 6.05 crore was provided to 1257 farmers in the district, with the government sanctioning Rs 2.75 crore as a subsidy. Speaking on the occasion, Ansariya said that agriculture has been given high priority in the Swarnandhra-2047 Vision Document plan. She informed that agriculture and its allied sectors have been identified as the main driving force for the district's development and measures are being taken to achieve a growth rate target of 15 percent. The Collector emphasised that farmers should observe new trends in agriculture and achieve better yields by utilising technical knowledge and machinery, thereby making cultivation profitable. She explained that the state government is providing subsidised machinery to individual farmers for their benefit. The collector said that the state government stands as a backbone to farmers by understanding their needs and ensuring an adequate supply of fertilizers and chemicals required for cultivation without any shortage.
