3 tech majors to set up units on 120 acres, invest 4k cr off eway
Noida: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has issued letters of intent to three companies for setting up manufacturing units near the upcoming Noida International Airport, marking a combined investment of around Rs 4,000 crore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Two of these companies will be allotted land in the upcoming Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) 2.0 in Sector 10, which spans 206 acres. Ascent-K Circuit will receive 16 acres to manufacture high-end printed circuit boards (PCBs), including HDI, flex, multilayer types, and semiconductor substrates, while Aurionpro ToshiAutomatic Systems, which specialises in industrial automation and smart transit and mobility solutions, will be allotted five acres as a member of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the central govt's EMC 2.0 scheme. Both units will be a part of the cluster approved by the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY), with Havells India Ltd, the anchor investor, already securing an allotment of 50 acres. The EMC 2.0 project received in-principle approval from MeitY in April this year. Amber Enterprises India Ltd, of which Ascent is a part, will be allotted another 100 acres in Sector 8 to manufacture copper-clad laminates, PCB assemblies, consumer electronics, and home appliances. Amber and Ascent together are expected to invest around Rs 4,000 crore across the two projects. Ascent is also expected to form a joint venture with some Korean firms for the PCB manufacturing venture. YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh confirmed that the land allotments are subject to approval by the Invest UP empowered committee and state policy guidelines. "Land acquisition is underway in Sector 8 and the LoI for the 100-acre plot, along with others, is provisional, pending regulatory clearances," he added. At least eight companies have announced plans to invest nearly Rs 12,000 crore in the region, driven by the dedicated industrial parks and state's FDI and Fortune 500 investment policies. Among those that have already secured land allotments is Fuji Silvertech Concrete Pvt Ltd, an Indo-Japanese joint venture, which is setting up a precast concrete product manufacturing unit on 20 acres in Sector 32. It was the first company to be allotted land under Uttar Pradesh's new FDI policy announced in November 2023. TI Medical Private Limited, a joint venture between the Fortune India 500-listed Tube Investments of India (TII) of the Murugappa Group and Premji Invest, has secured an 11-acre plot in the Medical Device Park in Sector 28. Minda Corporation Limited, in partnership with Korea's Daesung and India's Loconav, has been allotted 22 acres in Sector 24 to produce ignition switches and steering locks for automobiles. Additionally, Minda has proposed a separate project in Sector 10 to manufacture wire harnesses and other automotive components on 10 acres, which has been approved by the state's empowered committee. Vama Sundari Investments Pvt Ltd, part of the HCL Group, is collaborating with Taiwanese electronics major Foxconn to establish a semiconductor manufacturing facility on 48 acres in Sector 28. Escorts, in a joint venture with Japan's Kubota Corporation, plans to build a large tractor manufacturing plant on 200 acres in Sector 10. Another major investment comes from Pine Valley Ventures Pvt Ltd, which aims to set up a readymade garments and accessories unit on a 20-acre plot in Sector 10. Poly Medicure Ltd has also applied for 7 acres in Sector 28's Medical Device Park to set up a medical equipment manufacturing unit.

PM virtually inaugurates 2 substations in Greater Noida
Noida: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated two 132kV substations in Ecotech 8 and 10 of Greater Noida from Kanpur on Friday. The PM also laid the foundation for a 220kV substation in Yamuna Authority's Sector 28. The three projects, with a combined cost of Rs 450 crore, aim to enhance power supply in the district's industrial and residential areas. These substations were to be unveiled by the PM last month on April 24, but the programme was postponed. "I was to inaugurate several projects in Kanpur last month on April 24. But due to the Pahalgam terror attack, I had to postpone my trip to the city, and subsequently, we gave a fitting reply by way of Operation Sindoor against the Pahalgam terror attack," PM Modi said while addressing the Kanpur rally on Friday. "We had made all preparations for the PM to inaugurate these three projects in GB Nagar via video conference from Kanpur. We were asked to send video clippings of the new substations with all details in this regard, which we have already sent," Dileep Kumar Gupta, executive engineer (Transmission), UPPTCL Noida, told TOI. The 132 kV substations in Ecotech 8 and 10 were completed earlier this year and made operational in Jan. In addition to improving the quality of power supply, they are also expected to make the area more attractive to investors, officials said. Meanwhile, construction for the 220 kV substation in Sector 28 is expected to begin soon and the substation is likely to be ready by Aug 2026. According to officials, this substation will make a significant contribution to meeting the increasing power demand in the future of Sector 28 and the neighbouring areas. "Together, all the three substations will improve the overall power distribution network in Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area," said Sanjay Paswan, superintending engineer UPPTCL, Noida. Transmission department officials added that the 220 kV substation will prove to be important in providing power supply to the industrial, residential, and airport areas under YEIDA. PM Modi's Kanpur visit includes launching a series of projects worth Rs 47,600 crore, aimed at boosting the region's power infrastructure and urban mobility. Among the projects inaugurated and unveiled on Friday were the 660 MW Panki Power Plant, the 660 MW Neyveli Power Ghatampur Project, and the second phase of Kanpur city's metro system. The Panki power plant, a cutting-edge thermal facility, is set to substantially enhance local electricity generation. Likewise, the Neyveli Power Ghatampur project will help meet the state's growing energy demands.

PM Modi inaugurates mega projects in Uttar Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated multiple development projects across Uttar Pradesh aimed at improving infrastructure and energy capacity in the region. The Prime Minister opened the section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project connecting Chunniganj Metro Station to Kanpur Central Metro Station, covering 14 stations. The project includes five underground stations that link important city areas and commercial hubs. Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the widening and strengthening works on G.T. Road. In the energy sector, several projects were inaugurated to increase power generation and supply. A 660 MW extension of the Panki Thermal Power Plant in Kanpur, worth over ₹8,300 crore, was opened, along with three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project valued at ₹9,330 crore. The Prime Minister also inaugurated 132 kV substations at Ecotech-8 and Ecotech-10 in Greater Noida, worth ₹320 crore. Further developments include the inauguration of rail overbridges at Panki Power House Railway Crossing and Panki Dham Crossing on Panki Road in Kanpur. These structures will support the Panki Thermal Power Extension Project by facilitating coal and oil transport and easing traffic congestion. The Prime Minister also inaugurated a 40 MLD tertiary treatment plant at Bingawan in Kanpur, which will enable the reuse of treated sewage water to promote water conservation. Foundation stones laid for power and road projects Foundation stones were laid for a 220 kV substation in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Gautam Buddh Nagar, to meet regional energy demands. The Prime Minister also laid foundation stones for road projects including the widening and strengthening of Gauria Pali Marg in Kanpur Nagar District and a road connecting Narwal node on Prayagraj highway to Kanpur defence node under the defence corridor. During the same event, the Prime Minister distributed certificates and cheques to beneficiaries of the PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojna , National Livelihood Mission , and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

In a major boost to the road infrastructure in the region, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for widening and strengthening of Gauria Pali Marg for industrial development in Kanpur Nagar District; widening and strengthening of road to connect Narwal Mode (AH-1) on Prayagraj Highway to Kanpur Defence Node (4 lane) under Defence Corridor in Kanpur Nagar District Uttar Pradesh is the last leg of PM Modi's four state visit. The PM's visit started on May 29 from Sikkim, where he participated in the programme, 'Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets purpose and nature nurtures growth,' and also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development projects. PM Modi has completed his visit to Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts in West Bengal, where he laid the foundation stone of City Gas Distribution project. Meanwhile in Bihar, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new terminal building of Patna Airport. UP youth to get preference in jobs at film institute in Noida Film City
Lucknow: Youth from the state will be given preference in the state-of-the-art Film Institute being established in the upcoming International Film City near the Yamuna Expressway, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday. The construction of the Film City will be carried out by Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd—a consortium led by renowned Bollywood filmmaker and the Bhutani Group. In its first phase, the project will cover 230 acres and involve an investment of Rs 1,510 crore. It will include the construction of multiple studios and the film institute, expected to be completed within the next three years. "The film institute will be one of its kind. In the first phase, it will be built over an area of 3 lakh square feet. The institute will have modern classrooms, studios, editing suites, and a VR lab equipped with the latest technologies. Students will get hands-on experience working on real film projects and will also have access to the latest film-making technologies," said Rajeev Arora, general manager of the company. He added, "Local youth will be given priority in both training and employment. Special preference will be given to the youth from the Yamuna Expressway region and nearby areas, while young people from other parts of Uttar Pradesh will also benefit." He also mentioned that training local youth and offering them jobs will be more cost-effective than hiring staff from Mumbai. This will help create jobs within the film city in areas like studios, production, and more. In addition, it will provide training and facilities related to film music. The Film City will also host movie premieres, so that production houses don't have to travel to other cities to launch their films. A comprehensive resource centre will be set up with films, scripts, and academic materials, which will serve as a valuable asset for both students and filmmakers. The institute will also organise film festivals, exhibitions, and competitions, giving students opportunities to showcase their talent. The campus will also include facilities like hostels, a cafeteria, a health centre, and recreational areas for students.
