AI and AR integrated training modules introduced in government schools in Coimbatore through CSR initiative

The Hindu03-05-2025

Government school students of Classes XI and XII in Coimbatore district preparing for NEET, JEE, and other competitive exams are set to benefit from advanced digital learning tools, thanks to a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
On Saturday, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar launched the programme, spearheaded by Soft Source Technologies in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Smart City. Under this initiative, 112 government schools across the district will receive tablets and preloaded SD cards. These devices contain educational content aligned with NCERT and State Board syllabi, as well as preparatory materials for NEET, JEE, and other competitive exams. Importantly, the content is accessible offline, eliminating the need for internet connectivity.
The learning modules incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies to enhance student engagement and understanding. These modules break down the syllabus into key concepts for quicker learning and better retention, provide interactive AR models for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and offer personalised test feedback to help students identify areas for improvement.
In the initial phase of the programme, tablets were distributed to students from 20 government schools.
The Collector emphasised the significance of self-directed learning and the benefits of accessing educational resources without the need for internet connectivity. He further highlighted that the integration of AI-driven keyword-based learning and 3D conceptualisation would aid students in grasping complex subjects more effectively.
He urged the School Education Department to monitor students' progress and collect feedback from students, parents, and teachers for future improvements to the initiative.
