Pitt's L.A. home was reportedly in escrow in an off-market deal. Sources told TMZ the property received a wave of interest once news got out about the sale, presumably thanks to the actor's fame and the home's history.
The property, nicknamed "The Steel House," was built in 1960 and became the home of famous stars like James Valentine of Maroon 5. The guitarist sold the house to the American heiress and activist Aileen Getty in 2019, who sold it to Pitt in 2023 for $5.5 million.

The burglars accessed the home through a front window, ransacking the place and making off with an undisclosed amount of miscellaneous items. The incident motivated Pitt to care better for his security, and he reportedly brought in round-the-clock guards.
A source explained that the security guards were commonly present when Pitt was around, but the burglary proved they were needed more in his absence. They added that the home was easily robbed because it lacked minimal barriers and a strong fence.
