Spending on hotels, transport, food, and shopping went up sharply. GST revenue from the concerts reached ₹72 crore.
The report says 86% of fans travelled to Ahmedabad from outside the city. Over 222,000 people attended across two nights, with special trains and extra flights helping them reach the venue. Hotel room prices rose sharply, and the city's airport and metro services broke records. Speaking on the report, Raghav Anand, Partner and Leader – Digital, Media and Convergence, EY-Parthenon, said, "As we witness the dynamic growth of India's live entertainment sector, which has surpassed the INR 12,000 crore mark in 2024 and is projected to grow at a robust CAGR of around 19% over the next three years, the increasing consumer spends are fueling this transformative journey.
This surge in consumer enthusiasm for world-class events reflects not just a rising disposable income but an evolving cultural fabric that craves immersive experiences. The economic potential of this sector is tremendous, creating a ripple effect across allied industries and fostering opportunities for creators and local professionals alike."
Many concertgoers stayed longer, spent more, and visited local attractions.
More than one-third explored the city's markets and heritage sites. Most of the audience was under 35, showing strong interest from young people.
The concerts created thousands of jobs. Around 9,000 of the 15,000 people involved in the event were from Ahmedabad. The organisers also focused on safety, accessibility, and reducing waste. Over 95% of the waste was kept out of landfills.
This event shows how live entertainment can help cities grow.

The report calls it a model for other cities to follow. With proper planning and support, more cities in India could host global music events and benefit from the rise in cultural tourism. Coldplay's shows in Ahmedabad are a sign that India is ready to be a global stage for major entertainment events.

Saif Ali Khan was dropped from THIS Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster, later it broke all records, film was…

Saif Ali Khan was dropped from THIS Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster, later it broke all records, film was… In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, we often witness the on-screen chemistry and story of a film. However, what happens behind the surface when the curtain falls is a lot more than what meets the eye. One such behind-the-scenes tale is of a film whose off-screen story was more dramatic than the film itself. The film that we are talking about is none other than Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus, Devdas . Released in the year 2002, this film created history at the box office. It was acclaimed both commercially and critically. This film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, and Jackie Shroff. It was not just a film; it was a visual masterpiece. But not many know that it was Saif Ali Khan who was originally considered for the role of Chunnilal , and Kareena Kapoor, too, had a bitter fallout with Bhansali during this period. Why did Saif Ali Khan drop out of Devdas? Initially, filmmaker Bhansali had Shah Rukh in mind as Devdas and Saif Ali Khan for the supporting role of Chunnilal . But due to some creative and financial misunderstanding, Saif was dropped. Years after its release, in 2001, Saif Ali Khan revealed in an interview that it wasn't him who rejected the role, rather the confusion over payments that led him out of the film. According to him, he didn't even consider himself a perfect fit for Chunnilal , believing his personality did not align with the character. Eventually, the role went to Jackie Shroff, who won appreciation for his portrayal. Kareena Kapoor's clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali Speaking of Kareena Kapoor, she also had a clash with Sanjay. She once revealed that she was called for a screen test for Paro's role and even received an advance payment. But later, Bhansali chose Aishwarya Rai instead. At that time, Kareena had just ventured into the world of acting, and this incident really hurt her deeply. She decided never to work with Bhansali again, claiming that he had caused her emotional pain. Bhansali, however, defended himself by saying that a screen test does not guarantee a role, as casting decisions often change after multiple evaluations. This disagreement marked the beginning of a sour relationship between the two, which continues to this day. However, despite all the ups and downs, the casting changes, and the controversies, Devdas turned out to be one of the most expensive films of its time, with a budget of around INR 44 crore. The film collected Rs 99.87 crore at the box office. From its extravagant production, soulful music, and impeccable performance of actors, this film became a cultural phenomenon that resonates even today, two decades after its release.

'Getting success is easy, keeping it is tough': Aslam Inamdar reflects on his rise from tea stall to kabaddi glory

Mumbai: For Puneri Paltan star Aslam Inamdar, kabaddi has been more than just a sport — it has been a lifeline. From humble beginnings helping his mother make ends meet by washing tea glasses at a stall, to lifting the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) trophy in Season 10, Aslam's story is one of grit, resilience, and self-belief. "My childhood was very hard. Our only goal was that nobody in the family should go hungry. I worked in hotels, on farms, anywhere I could — but I never let go of my passion for kabaddi," recalls Aslam on 'The Chill Hour' podcast with Deepak Pareek. That passion found an outlet thanks to his brother Wasim and local coach Rahul Balkar. Despite years of obscurity — "For 10 years, I was just a kabaddi player with no money or fame" — Aslam's big breakthrough came in 2019. By 2021, he was making his Pro Kabaddi League debut with Puneri Paltan, soon establishing himself as a fearless raider. The economics of PKL, he believes, have transformed not only players' lives but also the perception of the sport. "If a PKL player gets Rs 2 crores continuously over three-four seasons, it means he earns at least INR 8 crores… This changes a person's life and the way the sport is being viewed," Aslam says. But success came with setbacks. After captaining Puneri to their maiden PKL title in Season 10 and being named Most Valuable Player, he suffered a major injury in Season 11. Doubts about his comeback swirled. "People said I won't be able to play at that level again. But I don't pay attention to negativity. I believe in myself more than anything else," he says. It is this mindset — equal parts calm and determined — that defines Aslam. "I don't take life too seriously. I live in the present. Whatever you do, do it openly, enjoy every moment," he says with a smile. Consistency, he believes, is the real test of a sportsperson. "Getting success is easy. Keeping it is the hardest thing. Many players shine for a year and disappear. For me, it's about hard work plus smart work. That's what keeps you at the top." He credits much of his growth to Puneri Paltan's ecosystem and his mentor Ashok Shinde. "Every player hears advice from hundreds of people. But in life, you must listen to one person you trust completely. For me, that's Ashok sir. He always told me — I'll make you a big player. And I trusted him." Today, Aslam Inamdar is not just a kabaddi champion but an inspiration for youngsters chasing big dreams from small towns. His journey is proof that hunger, discipline, and self-belief can carry you from the sidelines of a tea stall to the center stage of world sport.
