Borel Fire wonder dog is now living a survivor's life of luxury in Tehachapi
Remember this little story from last year's Borel Fire?
If exhausted Kern County firefighters needed a morale boost they got one last July 26 — a grateful, abandoned dog, injured by the flames, who turned up just as the men were refilling their depleted reserves of stamina and preparing to move on. They called the pooch Walker, after Walker Basin, where introductions were first made.

Engine 318 from Stallion Springs found the dog with significant burns on all four paws. The three-year-old Shepherd-cattle dog mix recovered at the Tehachapi Veterinary Hospital. Stormy Fralick, a staff tech at the vet hospital, looked after him.
Kern County Animal Services searched for the dog's owner, who they realized might have lost their home in the fire or might have otherwise evacuated. They placed 'found dog' notices all over social media, gave it some time — and ultimately allowed Fralick to adopt him.
Now his name is Reggie — and photographic evidence suggests he's happy, healthy and enjoying his two adoptive siblings.
All's well that ends well.

3 bodies recovered from small plane crash in California: Reports
Three bodies have been recovered following a July 26 small plane crash in Pacific Grove, California, according to local reports. Television stations KION and KSBW reported that the U.S. Coast Guard recovered the bodies July 27. USA TODAY has reached out to the USCG Pacific Area and the Monterey County Sherriff's Office for confirmation. The Federal Aviation Administration said in a preliminary statement to USA TODAY that three people were on the Beechcraft BE55 it alerted as missing off the coast of the town July 26. Flight tracking data published by FlightAware shows flight N8796R leaving from San Carlos Airport at 10:11 p.m. PT heading toward the Monterey Regional Airport. The tracker indicates that the plane turned around over the seaside town and was last seen around 10:37 p.m. PT. Cal Fire told KSBW that witnesses reported hearing an aircraft engine revving, followed by a splash in the ocean. The NTSB will lead the investigation, the FAA said in its statement. Hero Edinburgh RNLI crews were sent to rescue a kite-surfer in difficulty at a beauty spot. The RNLI Queensferry Lifeboat was sent to Pettycur Bay on Saturday, July 26, to undertake a search of the area. The team were made aware after participating in a demonstration alongside Kinghorn Lifeboat. The casualty was located just east of the No.8 channel market off Kinghorn Bay. The casualty was then taken back to where they had launched from at Pettycur Beach. A statement from RNLI Queensferry reads: "Queensferry Lifeboat and crew were visiting Kinghorn Bay to take part in Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat Open Day celebrations on Saturday 26 July. "Just after participating in a demonstration alongside Kinghorn Lifeboat, UK Coastguard recieved reports of a kitesurfer in difficulty at Pettycur Bay. As Kinghorn Lifeboat had already recovered and Queensferry Lifeboat was in the area, the Queensferry crew were tasked to the incident. The casualty was taken back to where they had launched from at Pettycur Beach and had been with a group of kitesurfers, who had raised the alarm."
