Packers announce open training camp practice dates
This will mark Green Bay's 80th training camp, a tradition that began in 1946 under Curly Lambeau. As in the past, practices are scheduled to take place at Ray Nitschke Field, with Packers Family Night at Lambeau Field.
The Packers open training camp Wednesday, July 23, with the first of three consecutive public practices. The Friday practice will be followed by the annual meeting of shareholders at 3 p.m. CT.
After a day off on Saturday, Green Bay will hold the first of four public practices in five days on Sunday (July 27-28 and 30-31).
The Packers will host Family Night at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Aug. 2, and follow with three consecutive public practices (Aug. 5-7) before taking on the Jets at home on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. CT.
Green Bay will hold a public practice on Tuesday, Aug. 12, before going to Indianapolis, where it will have a joint practice (Aug. 14) before facing the Colts on Saturday, Aug. 16, at noon CT.
The Packers finish off the open sessions of training camp with an open practice on Aug. 19 and then an open joint practice against Seattle (Aug. 21) before facing the Seahawks at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. CT.
All public training camp practices at Ray Nitschke Field are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. CT (times are subject to change). Should inclement weather or any other factor force the team indoors, practices will be closed to the public due to space limitations inside the Don Hutson Center.

Packers sign OL Lecitus Smith
The Packers signed offensive lineman Lecitus Smith on Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of reports. In a corresponding move, the team waived wide receiver Sam Brown Jr. with an injury designation. The Steelers cut Smith in May after claiming him off waivers from the Patriots in March. The Cardinals made Smith a sixth-round pick in 2022, and he has appeared in 18 NFL games with three starts. Anthony Richardson will start for Colts this week
The Colts play their first game of the preseason on Thursday night and head coach Shane Steichen revealed who will be starting at quarterback during a Tuesday press conference. Anthony Richardson will be taking snaps to open the game in Baltimore. Steichen told reporters that he expects Richardson to play a quarter and a half before returning to the bench. Daniel Jones is set to play the rest of the first half. Jones is also in line to start the second preseason game against the Packers and Steichen said that the playing time for the two quarterbacks will be divvied up the same way. The Colts listed Richardson or Jones as their No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart they released this week and the plan for the next two weeks suggests things will stay that way through the second preseason game. It remains to be seen if that will be enough time for Steichen to make up his mind about the Week 1 game against the Dolphins, but the play of both quarterbacks will be closely watched as that date draws closer.

Packers cornerback Nate Hobbs expected to miss rest of training camp with knee injury: Report
Green Bay Packers cornerback Nate Hobbs is expected to miss the rest of training camp after undergoing surgery to repair a meniscus tear, ESPN reported Tuesday. He could return in time for the Packers' regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 7, per ESPN. "I'm not going to put a timetable on it," head coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday of Hobbs' knee injury. "But unfortunately he had to have something cleaned up. We're hoping to get him back here sooner than later." Hobbs, 26, was one of the Packers' biggest free agent acquisitions this offseason. They signed him to a four-year, $48 million deal in March. He spent his first four seasons in the league with the Las Vegas Raiders, who took him in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. Hobbs has played at least 550 defensive snaps in each of his four NFL seasons, according to Pro Football Focus. He's mostly played inside corner, with 304 of his 554 defensive snaps last season taking place in the slot, per PFF. But the Packers see him as a starting outside corner opposite of Keisean Nixon. In Hobbs' absence, third-year defensive back Carrington Valentine and veteran Corey Ballentine — who played in 37 games for the Packers between 2022-24 — are options for Green Bay at the position. The team re-signed Ballentine on Monday. This isn't the first time Hobbs has been sidelined during his NFL career. He's been out for a combined 16 games over the past three seasons because of ankle and hand injuries and illness. Unfortunately for the Packers, they're used to injuries foiling their plans at cornerback. Back in June, Green Bay moved on from Jaire Alexander after seven seasons. Although Alexander earned second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods in 2020 and 2022, he's struggled to stay on the field. In each of the past two seasons, Alexander has played in just seven games. He wound up reuniting with his Louisville teammate, quarterback Lamar Jackson, in Baltimore. There's still a chance Hobbs plays a full slate of games for the Packers this season. But before his first game action in Green Bay, he's already recovering from a procedure.
