Rajiv Thakur was dropped from Kapil Sharma's show, trolls called him ‘boring'; career took a hit after he was mocked by a child on TV
The actor then went on to reveal the reason behind his absence from Kapil Sharma's show. He said, 'Dates didn't match, they were calling in-between, and I had prior commitments which I don't like to break. It's also that they have to deliver a very short, 55-minute long, show and within those 55 minutes Krushna Abhishek, Sunil Grover, Kapil — they all have to perform their skits. Along with that, conversation with guests is also there. They have so much to do in those 55 minutes and which is why space for me was very less in the show, then it is not possible to do justice with me.'
When Rajiv was asked about how important it is for an actor or comedian to be able to take a joke on himself, he recalled an instance about how this very thought process ended up hampering his career. He spoke about his time on the show Comedy Circus, where he was paired with child artist Saloni Daini. Since Saloni was a kid at the time, Rajiv didn't find it appropriate to make fun of her and instead asked Saloni to only take jibes at him. While the audience laughed at Saloni's jokes, they started perceiving Rajiv in a certain light, which, he said, affected his career.
He said, 'This thought process has hampered my career in a way you can't even imagine. In Comedy Circus, comedians had partners and they would crack jokes on each other. I was cast opposite Saloni and I couldn't do that. I allowed her to make fun of me but I couldn't do that to her. In fact, I gave her dialogues to mock me on the show.'
He went on to say, 'One of the dialogues was: 'I am making a living on a kid's salary.' But people started using that dialogue elsewhere and I thought it is okay because as a performer I should be able to take a joke on myself. But slowly people started believing this line and they would tell me that, 'I bore them.' But that was wrong. Can a boring person do 14 seasons of a comedy show for 8 years?'

The Great Indian Kapil Show 3: Kapil Sharma reveals Shilpa Shetty asked Govinda, ‘If Sunita wasn't around, then who shot you?'; asks why she thinks wives are always a threat
The Raksha Bandhan special episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show season 3 was a complete laugh riot. The episode featured real-life siblings Shilpa and Shamita Shetty and Huma Qureshi and brother Saqib Saleem. In one segment of the episode, Kapil reminded Shilpa Shetty about the funny question she had asked Govinda during a hospital visit, after he had accidentally shot himself in the leg. For those unaware, in October 2024, actor Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg with his licensed revolver at his Mumbai home. He underwent surgery and was hospitalised, during which his close friend and co-star Shilpa Shetty visited him. Kapil Sharma recalled Govinda's account of that meeting from the previous season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, telling Shilpa, 'Last season, when Govinda came to our show, he told us something about you.' He then played a video from Govinda's episode recalling the time Shilpa visited him after an accidental shooting incident and quizzed her about her question. Govinda shared, "The time Shilpa came to see me. She first asked how I hurt myself and where Sunita was? I said Sunita had gone to the temple, so she asked who shot you then?' Shilpa burst into laughter about the moment and said, 'Only I can ask this?' Later, Kapil Sharma asked Shilpa Shetty why she thinks a man's biggest fear in life is his wife. Shilpa replied, 'Sometimes men hold powerful positions and the whole world fears them, but the only person they're truly afraid of is their wife. A man's eyes open only after marriage.' Shilpa Shetty was on a roll in the episode as she cracked many funny punchlines and even pulled her sister Shamita's leg about her love life. At one point, she even became a matchmaker. Kapil Sharma's security tightened in Mumbai after fresh firing at his Cafe in Canada
Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma's security cover in Mumbai has been increased, senior police sources said, following two shootings at his café in Canada and threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over his association with actor Salman Khan, news agency PTI reported. On Friday, Kap's Café in Surrey, Canada, owned by Sharma, was attacked for the second time this month. In a video of the incident circulating online, at least 25 gunshots can be heard, along with a voice saying, '…We had called the target, but he didn't hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn't hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.' Two gangs-- led by Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi-- have claimed responsibility for the attack in social media posts. The first incident occurred on July 10, when shots were fired at the café while some staff members were still inside. No injuries were reported, but at least 10 bullet holes were found in one window, and another pane was shattered. A day after the August 8 shooting, an alleged member of Bishnoi's gang, identified as Harry Boxer, released an audio warning targeting anyone working with Salman Khan. 'No small-time producers, directors or actors who work with Salman Khan will be spared,' he said, adding that the gang would go to 'any length' to carry out the threat. This comes weeks after Khan appeared as the first guest on the third season of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, which premiered on June 21. Bishnoi's gang has repeatedly issued warnings to Khan, who has been on their radar since the 1998 blackbuck poaching case during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Jodhpur. The Bishnoi community considers blackbucks sacred. Following a firing outside Khan's Mumbai residence on April 14 last year, he was placed under heightened security.
