‘A hand up': Tennessee celebrates Day of Hope
The Metro Drug Coalition hosted four events this Day of Hope, supporting homeless people, justice-involved individuals, youth and families, and those in need of mental health and faith initiatives. 6 News went to the event in Sam Duff Park to see how they were helping the unhoused community.

Josh Webb with Metro Drug Coalition explained that giving back was a passion of his, especially to the unhoused.
'This is a hand up and a give-back, something we can do that's so easy to get someone back on their feet,' Webb said.
Another person with Metro Drug Coalition said, 'If you want to come out and volunteer, don't be shy, don't be scared. Every little thing helps. Even if you just come out to talk to somebody, make them feel like they're important, make them feel like their life is worth something, sometimes that's all it takes to make somebody want to seek that help to do better.'

After two cars stolen, Palm Beach Police remind residents to lock their vehicles
After two cars were stolen in recent days in Palm Beach, the town's police department is reminding people to lock their vehicles. In an alert sent Aug. 2, the Palm Beach Police Department cautioned people to take valuables out of their vehicles and lock their cars and homes. The two vehicles that were most recently stolen on the island were unlocked, said Palm Beach Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Ogrodnick. Six total vehicles have been stolen in Palm Beach this year, he said. "We have these groups that come up from the south, and they're coming through town for a reason," he said of would-be thieves, while noting that this issue is not isolated to Palm Beach. People should remove from their vehicles items that are high in dollar value, and remember to also remove items such as purses, cash and phones that could entice a potential thief, Ogrodnick said. People also should not leave their key fobs in their vehicles — a move that makes it even easier for a car to be stolen, he said. As long as the key fob is nearby: "They can start the car," Ogrodnick said. "And the car is gone." He declined to share the makes and models of the vehicles that were stolen or more details about the incidents, citing the active investigation. People who see something suspicious should contact Palm Beach Police at 911 for an emergency and 561-838-5454 for a non-emergency. A Jaguar F-Pace was driven into this shop and £6,000 of goods were stolen
A Jaguar F Pace was driven into the front window of a family-run department store in the middle of the night before more than £6,000 worth of goods were stolen. An investigation into the burglary at Webbs Stores in Crickhowell has been launched and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Dyfed-Powys Police say that a white Jaguar F Pace, with three male occupants, was used to "gain entry" into the store before they left with more than £6,000 worth of goods shortly after 1am on Wednesday, July 23. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. After the crime scene investigators left, the family and staff quickly cleaned up to reopen the store. "It's all been boarded up and we are back up and running," Mr Webb said. "Obviously it's going to take some time now to replace the window and whatever, but we're not going to let it get to us. You've just got to carry on. You can't let these people win. "We've still got a business to run. We've been here for 90 years so we're not going to let this bring us down." Driver accused of killing woman kicks her, tells her to get up, TN officials say
A driver had alcohol and cocaine in his system when he hit two pedestrians and told a woman lying in the street with fatal injuries to get up, Tennessee prosecutors said. After a five-day trial, a jury convicted 46-year-old Kenyan Roshad Warren of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and reckless aggravated assault in the 2022 crash, according to the office of District Attorney General Charme Allen. Information about Warren's legal representation was not immediately available. Warren was driving down the road in Knoxville on Aug. 6, 2022, when he struck two pedestrians who were crossing the street, prosecutors said in a news release July 8. According to police reports, a woman identified as Stephanie Llewellyn died of injuries from Warren's pickup truck, WVLT and WATE reported. A man had serious injuries, including a major skull fracture, according to prosecutors. Witnesses said before police got to the crash scene, Warren got out of his truck and walked over to Llewellyn, who was lying in the road, according to prosecutors. Witnesses recounted he kicked her, telling her to get up, then cursed at her and tried to drag her to the side of the road, prosecutors said. When officers arrived, they said Warren threw a beer can under his vehicle in front of them. 'Warren smelled like alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet,' prosecutors said. A mandatory blood draw revealed his blood alcohol content was .106, and he tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, according to prosecutors. He's scheduled for sentencing Aug. 20.
