‘Get in the hole!': Staff member at Kananaskis Country Golf Course nails an ace in her first round of golf
A first-time golfer pulled off one of the unlikeliest holes-in-one in golf history recently at Kananaskis Country Golf Course.
Emma Strong came from Britain to work at the snack shack on the golf course in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains even though she had never played golf in her life.
Recently, her work colleagues convinced her golf can be fun when it's not completely exasperating, so she agreed to give it a shot.
For her first par-3 of her life, the 99-yard long fourth hole, Strong decided to go with driver, figuring a first-timer needs all the club she can get.
As it turned out, it was exactly the right amount of club, as the ball found its way into the hole, setting off a celebration on the green.
It didn't go as well on the next par-3, the sixth hole, but that's golf.
'Emma is so understated and quite honestly was having a tough time grasping how unlikely it is to do what she did as she is a new golfer!' Kananaskis Golf Course posted on its Instagram page.
'If you see her in the snack shacks please share with her how great this accomplishment was and commend her on how quickly she has picked up the game!!'
CTV News has reached out Kananaskis Golf Course for comment, and whether Emma will reveal her secret to CTV Calgary's Glenn Campbell, who has been golfing for decades and has a Golf Tips segment every week -- and has never made a hole-in-one.

Late TD lifts Elks to win over Alouettes
Edmonton Elks' Kaion Julien-Grant (11) celebrates with teammates after he scores during second half CFL action against the Montreal Alouettes in Montreal on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025. MONTREAL – Cody Fajardo and Kaion Julien-Grant joined forces to haunt their former Montreal Alouettes teammates Friday night at Percival Molson Stadium. The Edmonton Elks teammates connected twice for touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the last major score from quarterback Fajardo to receiver Julien-Grant coming with 15 seconds left, to give the visitors a 23-22 victory. The Alouettes' (5-4) defence had been solid up to that point, but the Elks (2-6) found a way to break through at the very end to win their first road game of the season. Travis Theis, on a spectacular 80-yard punt return, and Cole Spieker — Montreal's first offensive touchdown in more than two games — scored for the Alouettes, who also saw kicker Jose Maltos-Diaz make field goals of 34, 42, and 53 yards. The Elks' offence came from touchdowns by defensive back Tyrell Ford, on an interception return of a horrible pass by McLeod Bethel-Thompson, and twice by Julien-Grant. Kicker Vincent Blanchard made a 12-yard field goal, but missed a 54-yarder. Bethel-Thompson, who talked all week about delivering a worthy performance, failed to live up to expectations and was replaced after two quarters, completing 10 of 15 passes for just 79 yards and a costly interception. (Christopher Katsarov/The Canadian Press) Caleb Evans did more in relief, but it wasn't enough for the Alouettes, who must hope for a quick return from Davis Alexander. Late in the first quarter, Theis brought the stadium to life. With the Elks trapped deep in their own territory and forced to punt, Theis returned the ball 80 yards for the game's first major and made it 10-1. It was the first career touchdown for the running back, who was used as a returner on Friday, as well as the Alouettes' first kick return this season. The Alouettes then drove to the Elks' 28-yard line and, with a second down and 10 yards to go, looked poised to at least score a field goal. That's when Bethel-Thompson gave the visitors a boost. His pass to Charleston Rambo fell just six yards short, directly into the hands of Ford. Ford juggled the ball, but he found himself facing an empty field when he finally got a grip on it. He returned it 87 yards, and the Alouettes headed into the locker room with the score 13-11. Evans replaced Bethel-Thompson early in the third quarter. The offence then regained some momentum, enough for it to score its first touchdown in 138 minutes and 14 seconds, since the second quarter in Calgary against the Stampeders two weeks ago. (Christopher Katsarov/The Canadian Press) As in Calgary, it was Spieker who caught a pass, a 19-yard play in the end zone. Despite Maltos-Diaz's missed one-point conversion, the Alouettes were able to breathe a little easier. Once again, the defence came to the offence's rescue. On the next drive, they knocked down two Fajardo passes to force a punt. When the Elks regained possession, a Shawn Lemon sack pushed the visitors back to a second down and 28 yards. Blanchard then missed the 54-yard field goal try, but as he came out of the end zone with the ball, Tyler Snead was hit hard, losing the ball, which the Elks recovered at the eight-yard line. Snead was left prone on the play. Fajardo didn't ask for more. Two plays later, he connected with Julien-Grant for a two-yard touchdown to bring the Elks within two points. Then, with 15 seconds left on the clock, Fajardo connected with Julien-Grant again for the game-winning touchdown. By Frédéric Daigle in Montreal

Stamps rookie defensive back Jaydon Grant making an impact
Jaydon Grant has been making big plays in his first year in the CFL. He'll look to keep that up, as the Stamps try to stop a two-game losing streak. This is Jaydon Grant's first year in the CFL, and the rookie is making a statement. The 27-year-old from Portland, Ore., is just happy he has a place to play and says he's loving the Canadian game. 'It's been a blessing,' he said. 'It was a little bit of an adjustment to the game down south, but I've been blessed with a great coaching staff and great players around me to help adjust, and it's really just been an awesome experience.' In eight games with the Calgary Stampeders, Grant has a pair of interceptions and 13 defensive tackles. Head coach Dave Dickenson says he's been one of the best rookies on the team. 'Really smooth, and he's settled right in there,' said Dickenson. 'He doesn't make a lot of mental errors, which is surprising for a rookie. 'Even though he's young and a rookie, he's a pro. 'He really understands what it takes to take care of your body and do the right things, so he's really fit in well.' Grant says that's just how he was coached. 'Especially as a safety, your job is to protect and help everybody else and really make everybody's job around me a little bit easier, so I try to do that wherever I am,' he said. Father played in the NBA For Grant, being athletic runs in the family. His dad, Brian, played 12 seasons in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. Grant says he learned a lot from his dad, no matter what sport he was playing. 'One of the biggest things was how to approach the game as a professional; I got to witness that firsthand growing up,' said the younger Grant. 'I also think the biggest thing that I took away from my dad is how to be a good teammate—how to put my teammates before myself and how to sacrifice and do whatever it takes. 'Whatever your team needs you to do, in whatever role that may be.' Grant says he did play basketball at a high level when he was younger, but in his senior year of high school, he started playing football and fell in love with the sport.
