Authorities discover vehicle traveling at 142MPH
BENNINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – One individual was taken into custody after they were found traveling at over 100 miles per hour Friday.
Police conducted a stop on a vehicle driving along VT Route 279 at about 4:13 p.m. Authorities say they confirmed that the vehicle, a a 2021 Audi S4, had been moving at about 142MPH. The posted speed in this area is 55MPH.
This driver, a New-York resident, was taken into custody. He is set to appear in Vermont Superior Court-Bennington Criminal Division June 2. The vehicle operator faces charges for excessive speed and gross negligent operation.

Man federally indicted after allegedly shooting police K9
WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging a Waco man with one count of possession of an unregistered firearm. According to court documents, Darrin King allegedly fled from Waco Police officers on May 28, who were dispatched to a civil disturbance involving a firearm. A police K9 was deployed in pursuit of King, who allegedly produced a firearm and fired multiple shots at the dog, striking the K9 twice in the neck and once in the chest. The Department of Justice says King was subsequently taken into custody and the firearm was recovered. The firearm was allegedly equipped with a machinegun conversion device (MCD), also known as a 'Glock switch,' allowing the firearm to fire as a fully automatic weapon. MCDs are defined as machineguns under the National Firearms Act, even when not installed. The DoJ says King faces up to ten years in prison if convicted. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Four Juneteenth celebrations taking place in Vermont
VERMONT (ABC22/FOX44) – Vermonters across the state will be gathering together to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, but it has been traditionally celebrated among African-Americans in the U.S. since 1866, shortly after Emancipation and the Civil War. Vermont was one of the first states to abolish slavery in 1777, before it became part of the U.S.. Juneteenth: The long road to becoming a federal holiday The City of South Burlington will hold its celebration on Thursday, June 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park. The events will include a craft fair and music, and the city says it will be 'highlighting BIPOC food vendors and business owners as well as BIPOC-focused non-profit organizations'. Winooski is holding its 'Juneteenth Block Party' in Rotary Park on Friday, June 20. The event is scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Burlington's Juneteenth festivities will take place on Saturday, June 21 from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m., with celebrations on Church Street and in City Hall Park. City mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak welcomed the public to the event, calling it 'not just a commemoration of freedom, but a powerful statement of our commitment to racial equity and social justice in the City of Burlington.' Suspects in multiple Hanley's General Store thefts caught on camera
JEFFERSONVILLE, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – State police are searching for two suspects allegedly involved in multiple thefts from the Hanley's General Store in Jeffersonville. The most recent theft occurred Sunday afternoon June 8. Both suspects, one male and one female, were caught on camera. Authorities believe the duo is driving a brown Honda Accord.
