Disney Scales Back "Snow White" Hollywood Premiere
Yara Sameh
Disney is hosting a Hollywood premiere of 'Snow White' on March 15, but won't be rolling out a robust red carpet like it usually does.
The afternoon festivities will include a pre-party and screening at the El Capitan Theatre with titular star Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, expected to attend.
However, the red carpet will not include the dozens of media outlets usually invited by Disney to interview the cast and creatives at its premieres.
Instead, the coverage will be limited to photographers and a house crew.
While the studio did not comment for this story, the scaled back plans come amid controversies surrounding the Marc Webb-directed movie, which hits theaters March 21.
Some toxic Disney fans questioned Snow White being played by Zegler when her casting was announced because she is a Latina actress.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star also faced backlash when she called the 1937 original 'dated' because the prince 'literally stalks Snow White.'
In an interview with Variety at D23 two years ago, Zegler said, 'She's not going to be saved by the prince. She's not going to be dreaming about true love. She's dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.'
Peter Dinklage spoke out about the movie's portrayal of little people for perpetuating negative stereotypes.
'Literally no offense to anything, but I was sort of taken aback,' he said on the 'WTF With Mark Maron' podcast in January 2024. 'They were very proud to cast a Latino actress as Snow White, but you're still telling the story of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.' Take a step back and look at what you're doing there.'
Shortly following Dinklage's remarks, Disney said in a statement to 'Good Morning America,' 'To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.'
Zegler reasons that the backlash to the movie is due to the 'passion' for the original movie. 'I interpret people's sentiments towards this film as passion,' she said in an interview in the March issue of Vogue Mexico. 'What an honor to be a part of something that people feel so passionately about. We're not always going to agree with everyone who surrounds us and all we can do is our best.'
World politics have also come into play. Zegler has promoted 'free Palestine' on social media. At the same time, Gadot, who is Israeli, has become an outspoken supporter of Israel on social media.
Gadot has stayed away from politics in the past but has said she felt she needed to speak up after the October 7 Israel-Hamas war.
MAGA supporters also blasted Zegler for her reaction to Donald Trump's reelection when she posted on Instagram, in part, 'May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.'
She apologized for her remarks two days later.
'Snow White' publicity plans have already included Gadot and Zegler presenting together at the Oscars
Zegler is also set to make a promotional appearance in Tokyo as well as travel with Webb to Spain for the movie.
The "West Side Story" star will also host a screening in New York City for the Broadway community.

"Jennifer's Body" Sequel Is Happening with Amanda Seyfried & Megan Fox Returning
Yara Sameh The cult horror film 'Jennifer's Body,' starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody, is nearing its 20th anniversary. Despite the film's cult status, sequel talks has been moving at a steady pace in the years following its 2009 release. Seyfried and Brody, in contention for Emmy nominations this year, recently reunited for Variety's ' Actors on Actors ' conversation where and shared important updates on the second film. 'We're making another one,' Seyfried told Brody definitively during their interview. 'I heard, what can you tell me?' he asked in return. In the original movie, 'Mamma Mia!' star Seyfried played Anita 'Needy' Lesnicki, the wallflower best friend of bad girl Fox (the titular Jennifer). Brody played Nikolai, lead singer of the aspiring rock band Low Shoulder. When the girls head to a local dive bar to see them play, Brody's character reveals bigger plans for his groupie Jennifer — a ritual sacrifice that will kill her and bring the band massive fame. Some problems arise in the fine print and Fox is transformed into a flesh-eating demon. Seyfried let on that the sequel is being spearheaded by producer Mason Novick ('Tully,' '500 Days of Summer'), who made the original with Jason Reitman and Daniel Dubiecki, which saw Brody and Fox's characters perish in the end. 'Are you going to do it?' Seyfried asked Brody about the next film, who said he hadn't been contacted about the project but noted that his character died. 'But so did Megan, and I'm not doing it without her,' Seyfried added, pitching Brody to play the devil this time around. She also suggested that original director Karyn Kusama ('Destroyer,' 'The Invitation') may be in the mix to return and that the pair had been trying to work together again after the first film. Considered a flop when the former 20th Century Fox brought it to theaters, the original grossed $31 million at the global box office on a $16 million budget. Pressure was high on Fox, who had broken big in Paramount's 'Transformers' franchise and on 'Jennifer's Body' screenwriter Diablo Cody, who had just come off an Oscar win for 'Juno.' But enduring fandom, the advent of streaming and discovery on platforms like TikTok have given 'Jennifer's Body' a strong cross-generational audience base. The movie was just shouted out on Benito Skinner's coming-of-age comedy 'Overcompensating.' Brody wondered to Seyfried what the second film should be called. 'Needy's Body,' she said. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Miley Cyrus Reveals Disney Banned Her from Performing ‘Hannah Montana' Songs After End of Show: 'I Wasn't Allowed To Sing Them'
Yara Sameh Miley Cyrus is opening up about her music career after she left Disney following her run on the 2006 hit sitcom "Hannah Montana." In a new interview, Cyrus explained why she had not performed the songs she popularized on the Disney Channel series, such as 'Best of Both Worlds.' 'After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music,' she said on Spotify's The Ringer podcast. 'It's not like I wanted to, I mean performing 'The Best Of Both Worlds' between 'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball,' wouldn't have really made sense," Cyrus continued. 'It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn't allowed to sing them.' However, when the superstar was honored as a Disney Legend in 2024, things changed and she was permitted to perform those songs again. 'After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool,' she added. Following her run as the star of Hannah Montana, Cyrus looked to reinvent her image and caused uproar in a series of performances and public appearances. In 2013, she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she twerked on Robin Thicke during the performance of 'Blurred Lines.' During her acceptance speech of the Disney Legend honor, she apologized to Mickey Mouse for her 'malfunction' era, saying, 'I definitely wasn't created in a lab and if I was there must've been a bug in the system which caused me to malfunction somewhere between the years of 2013 and '16. Sorry, Mickey.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

The movie is a sequel to the 2003 comedy 'Freaky Friday,' starring Curtis and Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the sequel features a 'multigenerational twist,' with the pic picking up many years after Tess and Anna originally swapped bodies. Anna has a daughter of her own, plus a soon-to-be stepdaughter. Tess and Anna navigate the challenges that come with merging two families and 'discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.' Joining Curtis and Lohan are returning stars Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. 'The Acolyte' star Manny Jacinto, 'Never Have I Ever' breakout Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters have joined the sequel. The original movie, based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel of the same name, follows Tess and Anna, a mother-daughter pair. Tess, a widowed mother, is prepping for a big wedding while musician Anna gears up for a gig that could make or break her band. When the two receive a mystical fortune cookie that causes them to swap bodies, they're forced to accept each other unconditionally. Disney officially announced in March 2024 that the sequel was moving forward, with Ganatra directing. The filmmaker and screenwriter has helmed episodes of Hulu's 'Welcome to Chippendales' and Max's 'And Just Like That…' and directed feature films 'The High Note,' starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and 'Late Night,' starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson. Andrew Gunn, who produced the first movie, is producing the sequel alongside former Disney exec Kristin Burr, with a script from 'Dollface' creator Jordan Weiss. The sequel is set to release in theaters on August 8.
