Georgia Steel slammed for wearing 'white dress' at Dani Dyer's wedding

Daily Mirror3 days ago

Love Island star Georgia Steel has been slammed on her latest social media post after sharing her 'risky' outfit for bestie Dani Dyers countryside wedding to Jarrod Bowen
Former Love Island star Georgia Steel has been slammed online by fans after she attended Dani Dyer's wedding in a 'white' lace dress. Dani tied the knot with West Ham United footballer Jarrod Bowen in an intimate wedding in the picturesque English countryside at the weekend, surrounded by her close friends and family.
Just before attending the wedding as a guest, Georgia took to TikTok where she shared a video showing off her wedding attire. The influencer is seen walking away from the camera, ensuring a full-length view, before spinning around and showing all angles of the dress.

The lacey midi dress featured a cutout feature on her chest and frilly fringe detailed around the top. Georgia, who first met Dani on Love Island, paired the look with white heels and a white clutch bag. While fans agreed the dress was beautiful, there was a dispute over the colour and whether it was wedding-appropriate.

The dress, which can be bought online for £206, had followers claiming that it was a 'risky' and 'too bridal' for a wedding due to its light colour and lace trim. One follower commented: 'Why would you wear a dress that's too close to white to a wedding?'
While another added: 'Stunning on you! It's a shame that it's such a pale yellow it looks cream. maybe it's brighter off camera but it's a risky colour for a wedding IMO'.

Other fans jumped to Georgia's defence and said: 'All the colourblind people in the comments, it's YELLOW', while another added: 'Let the girl wear her YELLOW dress in peace'.
While Georgia looked the epitome of a spring/summer wedding guest, embracing this year's 'butter yellow' trend, bride Dani, of course, stole the show in a beautiful Suzanne Neville dress. The wedding dress was simple and elegant with off-the-shoulder sleeves. Striker Jarrod also cut a smart figure in a classic three-piece black suit.

The newlyweds confirmed they've officially tied the knot with a sweet Instagram post. Sharing a loved-up snap of their ceremony, Dani simply wrote: "The Bowen's."
On her Instagram, Dani said, "The most perfect, special day," alongside a video of herself getting married. A purpose-built glass marquee had been erected in the Buckinghamshire countryside for the event, although the ceremony itself took place outside to make the most of the sunny weather.
After the couple cut a giant white cake, a band could be seen in the background poised to begin, so everyone could get the party started with some dancing.
The couple walked the aisle than a year after Jarrod popped the question to Dani. After seeking Dani's dad's permission, Jarrod got down on one knee during to boat trip in Ibiza. The proposal came a year after the couple welcomed twins into their family, Summer and Star, who are now two.

Jessie J's celebrity friends leave touching messages of hope amid cancer journey

Jessie J, famed for Price Tag, Domino and other tunes, has been diagnosed with early breast cancer and plans to have surgery following her performance at this month's Summertime Ball Jessie J has received messages of support from celebrity friends - including Rochelle Humes - after announcing she has cancer. The singer, 37, said she will have surgery after her performance at the Summertime Ball and remained optimistic she will return with more hits. However, she admitted she "needs a hug" through the difficult time, having been diagnosed with the breast cancer at an early stage. ‌ Friends quickly shared messages of support, telling the songwriter how much they love her. Humes, who presents The Hit List with husband Marvin, said: "We love you so much." Former Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock added: "Sending you so much love" amid the flurry of public messages. ‌ And the rapper Wretch 32, whose real name is Jermaine Scott, said: "Continued strength and guidance, you're loved and you're cared for, you fight my gangster." Jessie J, born and raised in Chadwell Heath, east London, said in an Instagram video yesterday she has spent much of her recent time "in and out of tests". She stressed, though, she is "holding on to the word 'early'" and is looking at surgery in the coming weeks. But the musician, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, says she will still perform at the Capital's Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Sunday June 15. She is on the line-up alongside the likes of Mariah Carey, Benson Boone and Tate Mcrae. Speaking in the Instagram clip, Jessie J said: "I just wanted to be open and share it... One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. ‌ "I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse - that's the bit that kills me. "The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time. But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don't want this to be any different." The singer, who won the Critic's Choice award at the Brits in 2011, welcomed her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023, having miscarried in November 2021. She has battled with ill health throughout her life, having been diagnosed with a heart condition aged eight, suffering a minor stroke aged 18 and having briefly gone deaf in 2020. Claire Taylor, chief nursing officer at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "Receiving a cancer diagnosis is a life-changing moment for anybody and our thoughts are with Jessie and her family. "Her openness in sharing her story will not only bring comfort to others who are facing a similar situation, it will also raise vital awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early diagnosis. We know that diagnosing cancer early can mean treatment is more likely to be effective and potentially less complex."

The Wire actor Tray Chaney shares tearful update after his teen son was carried away by a tornado

The Wire actor Tray Chaney shared an update on his son Malachi's condition after the 19-year-old was carried away by a tornado that swept through their home on May 29. Chaney, who played Malik 'Poot' Carr on the acclaimed HBO series, revealed last week that a tornado had destroyed his family's home in Locust Grove, Georgia — near Atlanta — while he was in bed. Malachi was sucked into the vortex and brutally thrown 300ft away from the home — about the length of an American football field — while his father was knocked unconscious before emerging from the wreckage of his home, which was totally destroyed and had collapsed around him. Luckily, his son survived, but the college student suffered devastating injuries, including broken ribs, multiple scratches over most of his body and fractures on every bone in his face. But Chaney shared a positive update with TMZ on Wednesday, and he revealed that his son was in stable condition and had finally been moved to a less-severe unit after spending six days in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU). 'But it's going to be a long journey and a long road to recovery. We're not out of the hospital,' he said. Chaney added defiantly, 'We went to war with a tornado and came out on top,' while noting that everyone in the house could have been killed in the natural disaster. While Malachi is dealing with lacerations across his upper body, his lower body miraculously escaped without any major cuts, as he had been wearing sweat pants when he was pulled into the air. Chaney added that he had suffered a head injury after the house fell down around him, so he regained consciousness only to find the wreckage of the destroyed home on top of him while he was lying in the mud. Neighbors rushed to help him and pull debris off him, but once he was able to look through the home he found nothing in useable condition, except for his cell phone, which miraculously survived in workable condition. It wasn't initially clear where Malachi was, as he had been tossed into the woods near their home by the deadly winds. 'We went through war with a tornado, you know?' Chaney said in the interview. 'The tough part is watching [Malachi] be stable and respond the best way he can. And every single day, he doesn't know what happened.' Malachi's hospital stay coincided with his birthday on June 1. Although Chaney and his family could only have a muted celebration for his son in the hospital, he shared a special message that Shaquille O'Neal had recorded to wish him a happy birthday. Malachi avoided cuts to his lower body because he was wearing sweatpants when he was swept away and thrown the length of a football field into the woods near his house View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tray Chaney (@traychaneyvision) The actor looked back on the devastating tornado — which was later determined to be an EF-2 level storm — and admitted that he didn't realize there was a tornado heading toward them until he heard what sounded like a 'train was coming' while he was in bed. 'I just remember turning to my right and my walls, and my TVs and my dressers and my bed turned upside down and I levitated in the air,' Chaney said as he began to tear up. 'I just remember covering [my face with my arms] like this, yelling my son's name out.' Luckily, Chaney's wife Ayesha wasn't home at the time of the tornado, but she returned shortly after it hit to find the destruction. Chaney added that he wasn't sure what the future held for his family now that their home had been destroyed and their lives had been shaken up. 'It's only six days. Me, my wife Ayesha and my son Malachi, [we've] got a long — we're got a lifetime to go because I don't know what's ... coming, and I'm not trying to figure it out,' he said. The family have since set up a GoFundMe page to help them rebuild while they stay alternate staying with friends and in hotels or shelters. As of Wednesday evening, the fundraiser was only about $1,500 shy of reaching its initial $100,000 goal.

Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins on ‘ridiculous' feud rumours

There has been speculation that the two co-stars had drifted apart after being on the HBO show, which follows the lives of guests and staff at a luxury resort as dark secrets are revealed and tensions rise over the course of the holiday. The third series sees the positive Chelsea, played by British actress Wood, 31, try to keep her mysterious older boyfriend, Rick, played by 53-year-old US actor Goggins, calm in Thailand. Following the 2025 series, Goggins appeared to step away from his fellow co-stars, and unfollow Greater Manchester-born Wood on Instagram. They both addressed the swirling rumours during a joint interview for US publication Variety, which was published on Wednesday. Goggins said: 'There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman (Aimee) madly, and she is so important to me.' He added that 'she's special', and explained he had not addressed the reports before as he did not want to talk about Wood when she was not there. 'I think it's such a comment on where we're at culturally. Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don't give a shite about Instagram,' Wood said. Goggins said that when he finished The White Lotus he 'needed to just back away from everyone', as it is his 'process' when filming a project ends. 'It's all so ridiculous,' he said. 'It's just a part of me just saying goodbye to this character so that now Aimee and I will be friends for f****** ever.' Wood previously criticised a Saturday Night Live sketch, with an cast member impersonating her with exaggerated prosthetic teeth, calling it 'mean and unfunny' on Instagram. She told Variety that it 'felt misogynistic. It felt like the punchline was a woman's appearance, which is just not funny. It's not cool'. Goggins shared the same sketch online and praised Jon Hamm for playing a version of his character, before deleting the Instagram post, ahead of hosting SNL> He said he was 'gonna say it (something) to your face', and added: 'I don't use social media in any way, and I'm not a mean guy.' SNL apologised for the April sketch, according to Wood, and the comedian and cast member who impersonated her, Sarah Sherman, sent her flowers to apologise. Wood is also known for Netflix teen show Sex Education, BBC comedy Daddy Issues and the 2022 drama film Living with Bill Nighy. Goggins has been in Western series Justified, post-apocalyptic series Fallout, and drama Sons Of Anarchy. He has had two Emmy nods, while Wood has won a TV Bafta for Sex Education and been given a Rising Star Bafta nomination.
