Cesar Chavez Jr jailed after US deportation
The Mexican boxer was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Studio City, Los Angeles, five days after fighting Jake Paul in nearby Anaheim.
The 39-year-old has now entered a prison in the northern Mexico state of Sonora, the country's national arrest registry showed on Tuesday.
It said that the boxer was arrested at a checkpoint in the border city of Nogales on Tuesday morning and transferred to a federal institution in Sonora's capital of Hermosillo.
Mexico's president Claudia Sheinbaum said in her daily news conference that he had been deported.
She previously said there was a warrant for his arrest for charges of arms trafficking and organised crime, and that prosecutors were working on the case.
The Mexican attorney general's office declined to comment.
Chavez Jr, who held the WBC middleweight title from 2011 to 2012, is the son of three-weight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez.
Mexican prosecutors allege he acted as a henchman for the powerful Sinaloa cartel, which Washington designated a foreign terrorist organisation earlier this year.
Chavez Jr's lawyer and family have rejected the accusations.

A video posted on social media showed immigration agents yanking Colombian TikToker Tatiana Martinez from her vehicle during an arrest last week. Martinez was detained on Friday in Los Angeles while sitting inside her Tesla. She was streaming on TikTok when federal agents approached her vehicle, according to Newsweek. McLaughlin said Martinez came to the United States in 2022 and "was RELEASED by the Biden administration." "Under President Trump and @Sec_Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences," Homeland Security said in a post on X. The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the social media videos. During her arrest, Martinez complained about shortness of breath and was given medical treatment, McLaughlin said, and is being held at a facility in Calexico, California. It's not clear if she has obtained an attorney. Martinez gained followers on TikTok after posting videos documenting the ICE raids under President Donald Trump's push for mass deportations, Newsweek reported. She also shared guidance on what people should do if Immigration and Customs Enforcement stop them. McLaughlin said that as agents were detaining Martinez, another person "unlawfully towed a government police vehicle." "He mocked and videotaped ICE officers chasing after him. Secretary [Kristi] Noem has been clear: Anyone who seeks to impede law enforcement will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," McLaughlin said.

Man, 26, arrested on suspicion of murder after fatal stabbing in Wembley
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Wembley. Officers were called to reports of a stabbing in Monks Park, Wembley, just after 6pm on Tuesday. Paramedics from London Ambulance Service also attended and treated a 38-year-old man for stab wounds. Despite their efforts, the man sadly died at the scene. His family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers. In the early hours of Wednesday, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. A 31-year-old woman was arrested at the scene for conspiracy to murder and also remains in police custody. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller who is leading this investigation said: "Our thoughts remain with the victim's family and friends at this hugely difficult time. 'We have made quick progress overnight and made two arrests, both these people remain in police custody. However, detectives are still working at pace to understand the circumstances around this sad event. 'We are urging anyone with information to get in touch and residents can continue to expect an increase in the number of officers in the local area as we continue our investigations. "Additionally, we ask all residents in the area to look at any doorbell or camera footage around Monks Park and to make contact if there is anything that they feel would assist police."
