IIT Delhi New Courses: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) continues to remain one of the most sought-after institutions in India for higher education and advanced research. In the latest QS World University Rankings 2025, IIT Delhi made a jump of 27 ranks, securing the 123rd global position and emerging as the top-ranked institute in India.
While IIT Delhi is traditionally known for its flagship BTech and MTech programmes, it has recently expanded its academic portfolio to include diverse short-term, certificate, diploma and interdisciplinary undergraduate programmes. These new courses cater to emerging industry needs and offer flexibility in learning. List of new courses announced by IIT Delhi for 2025
Here's a list of newly introduced courses by IIT Delhi from November 2024 to June 2025, for which admissions were open or ongoing until January 2025.
BTech in Design
This is a degree course with a duration of 4 years.
The BTech in Design combines creativity with technology and introduces students to industrial, communication and interaction design. It is offered by the newly formed Department of Design at IIT Delhi.
Eligibility: Admission through UCEED, not JEE Advanced.
Course Fee: As per regular BTech fee structure of IIT Delhi.
BS in Chemistry
This is a 4-year degree course under the Department of Chemistry.
The BS in Chemistry focuses on foundational and advanced chemical sciences, preparing students for careers in research, pharmaceuticals, and allied sectors.
Eligibility: JEE Advanced 2025 qualification required.
Certificate in Finance for Non-Finance Professionals
This is a certificate course with a 6-month duration.
The course aims to impart financial literacy and management skills to professionals from non-finance backgrounds. It is being offered through the Continuing Education Programme (CEP).
Eligibility: Open to graduates and working professionals in non-finance domains.
Course Fee: Rs 1,50,000
Certificate in Supply Chain Management
This is a certificate course with a 6-month duration.
This programme is designed to provide practical understanding and strategic insights into modern supply chain systems, logistics, and operations.
Eligibility: Open to graduates and mid-level professionals.
Course Fee: Rs 1,50,000
Certificate in Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing
This is a certificate course with a 6-month duration.
It focuses on the growing field of semiconductor fabrication, microelectronics, and VLSI design—aligned with India's chip-making ambitions.
Eligibility: Suitable for engineers, science graduates, and early-career professionals in electronics.
Course Fee: Rs 1,50,000
MTech and PhD Programmes – IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi
These are postgraduate degree programmes, with durations of 2 years for MTech and variable for PhD.
These programmes are part of IIT Delhi's new international campus at Abu Dhabi and focus on sustainable technologies, energy, and data science.
Eligibility: Bachelor's/Master's degrees with GATE or equivalent qualifications.
Interdisciplinary courses announced for upcoming batches
Multiple interdisciplinary UG and PG-level course options have been introduced with flexible curricula under the 2025–26 academic year reforms. These include modules in AI, healthcare technology, humanities integration, and skill-based minors, offering students the ability to chart personalised academic paths.

Sharing his thoughts after having breakfast with students at IIT Delhi, the minister described the institutes as central to building a strong ecosystem of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the country. Pradhan wrote on social media platform X that IITs are not just centres of academic excellence but also vital contributors to India's innovation landscape. "Our IITs will be the bedrock of a self-reliant India", he posted. He stressed that with the "rock solid support" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country's young generation will rewrite the rules of technology and business. "Backed by the rock solid support of PM Narendra Modi, our talented Yuva Shakti are going to rewrite the rules of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship and build a 'Samridhh and self-reliant Bharat'," the Union Minister added. The minister expressed confidence that India's talented youth will play a decisive role in shaping the nation's future.
