Thanks to Ginny & Georgia's abortion storyline, we finally have a powerful, real portrayal of what it's like
Netflix series Ginny and Georgia isn't exactly known for its gritty verisimilitude (the second season ends with a wedding, a police investigation and a shock confession), and with the show having returned for a third season, you can expect the melodrama to continue. But it's a tender and more understated moment towards to second half of the season that will resonate over the hyperbole, and will remain with viewers long after the series ends. For those not up to speed, Ginny meets Wolfe in her poetry class, and after some mild flirting, the pair end up having a brief liaison in the laundry room – leaving 16-year-old Ginny unexpectedly pregnant. It's a clear moment of contention for Ginny when she manages to speak to Georgia, after Wolfe's disappointing response to the news ('That's wild!' was his reaction, before fleeing). With Georgia having been a teenage mum herself, Ginny is painfully aware that if her mother had chosen to have an abortion, she wouldn't be here. This knowledge leads to uncertainty, even though Ginny knows having a baby isn't the right choice for her. Ginny ultimately decides to have the procedure, which is shown with quiet, raw accuracy – some pills, and Ginny returning to her home with a hot water bottle as she undergoes painful cramping. She gently asks her mother whether she should feel guilty, before asking her dad whether she is damaged. It is made clear that Ginny has not done anything wrong – that she did what she felt was right to her in a difficult situation. What makes this storyline so powerful is that it does not attempt to moralise or present any scenario as more correct than another – instead it is subdued in its approach, showing the reality for so many young girls who find themselves pregnant unexpectedly, and the difficulty of making that life-changing decision they are forced to reckon with. It's an accurate reflection of messiness because there is no right answer; for Georgia, having kids young was her saving grace. For Ginny, it might have inhibited a bright future – and the series makes it clear that it's vital she has the ability to make that choice for herself. The abortion storyline is particularly brave, considering it's an increasingly contentious topic in the States. Ginny & Georgia is set in Massachusetts, where abortion is still legal in certain circumstances - but this is not the case in many parts of America. Since the overturning of Roe v Wade in 2022, and the second term of Donald Trump's presidency, a women's right to have autonomy over her own body is being increasingly challenged by right-wing politicians and Evangelical extremists. It's something that we're now starting to see echoes of in the UK too. Abortion may be legal here, but under particular caveats. Two doctors need to agree that it would cause less harm to the woman's physical or mental health, or the health of existing children, than continuing the pregnancy before 24 weeks. However, right wing figures such as Nigel Farage are increasingly gaining power in the UK; Farage himself has since suggested reducing the abortion limit to below 24 weeks should he be handed the keys to No.10 in the future. It may not necessarily have the bombast or excitement as other storylines in Ginny & Georgia, but the abortion scenes show the quiet yet urgent reality needed for women, no matter what the circumstances, to be able to make the choice over her own body – and future. Ginny and Georgia: Who has Georgia Miller killed? Your reminder of the fictional character's crimes
Ginny and Georgia has finally landed on Netflix for an unbelievably dramatic season three. The new 10-part season picks up right where the last one ended, with Georgia getting arrest for the murder of Tom Fuller. And now in the new season we'll be seeing her undergo trial and prove her innocence. Except if you've watched even one episode of this show, you'll know Georgia (Brianne Howey) is far from innocent. Over the first two series it's been revealed she's killed three people, shot another and committed a variety of crimes including theft and shoplifting. And as she is about to be put under the microscope, we thought it was only right to reexamine her various crimes, after all, it's been two years since the show was last on, so we're a little hazy on the details. So here is everything you need to know about Georgia Miller's murders. During Ginny and Georgia we get scenes both in the present timeline and also in various flashback timelines throughout Georgia's life. In season one we come to learn about Georgia's first murder. About a year after giving birth to Ginny, Georgia leaves Zion and his family and ends up working in a hotel in New Orleans. There, she meets Anthony Green, the owner of the hotel who looks after Ginny when she's working. During her time at the hotel Georgia starts an illegal poker ring to start earning some more money, however at one point she gets busted and lands in jail, with Ginny being sent to foster care. In order to try and get Ginny back, Georgia agrees to marry Anthony and come off as a woman in a happy healthy relationship with a stable home for her daughter. During their marriage she tries to knock him out with drugs to stop him irritating her, however she gives him too high a dosage and he overdoses. She calls on the help of the gang she used to run with called the Bloodeyes who help her to cover up the death and make it look like Anthony has gone missing. In season one we also learn about Georgia's first intentional murder. Just before they move to Wellsbury in the pilot episode, it turns out Georgia was married to a wealthy guy named Kenny Drexel. Kenny ran a series of yoga studios that Georgia ended up teaching at whilst married to him. One day she sees Kenny touch Ginny inappropriately and decides she needs to get her children out of the situation. She decides to kill Kenny by posinig him. She adds wolfsbane to his morning smoothie, which causes him to have a heart attack and crash his car while driving to work. This murder is unlike the others and is the one that sees Georgia land herself in jail. Throughout both seasons of the show, we know Georgia's frenemy Cynthia's husband Tom has suffered a serious illness which has left him in a coma. It takes it's toll on Cynthia throughout the series and at one point she tells Georgia in a drunken state: "I just want it to be over." In own twisted way of being a supportive friend, while picking Austin up from a playdate with Cynthia's son Zach, she goes into Tom's room and smothers his face with a pillow, killing him. What she doesn't realise at the time is Austin is watching his mother kill Tom from inside the cupboard. Will Georgia finally be sent to jail for her crimes? We really kinda hope not, but guess we'll just have to watch season three to find out. Ginny and Georgia is available on Netflix now

How old are the Ginny and Georgia cast? The characters vs the actors who play them
It's back! Ginny and Georgia season three has officially landed on Netflix, reuniting us with one of the most chaotic towns in America - Wellsbury. The third season sees Georgia face trial for the murder of Cynthia's husband Tom and if that wasn't already dramatic enough, there's friendship breakdowns, new romances and high school dances to contend with. But amongst all the madness we can't help but be distracted by one small, but very important detail - Austin is supposed to be nine years old?! The younger child of Georgia Miller, Austin, is meant to be nine years old in the events of season two and three, but given it's been two years since the show was last on TV, Diesel La Torraca who plays Austin has of course grownup and is now a 14 year old playing a nine year old. Yeah the maths isn't mathing on this one. And he's not the only cast member in Ginny and Georgia to be playing a different age to his own, in fact the majority of the teenage cast are played by fully grown adults in their mid 20s. Curious to know more? These are the exact ages of the Ginny and Georgia cast and the characters they play.
