Channel 4's ‘nerve-shredding' thriller is now available to binge
From the makers of Slow Horses, In Flight will hit screens tonight, with none other than Katherine Kelly taking the lead.
The former Coronation Street actress is a failsafe when it comes to TV dramas these days, having played huge roles in The Long Shadow, Happy Valley, and the highly decorated Mr Bates vs the Post Office, to name just a few.
But now, her work sees her take to the skies for a crime drama that will, quite literally, have you gasping for breath.
In the series directed by Chris Baugh, Kelly plays a flight attendant named Jo Conran whose son has been arrested and locked up in Bulgaria.
The teenager is sentenced to 15 years behind bars, catapulting Jo into a terrifying criminal underworld as she entangles herself with a gang that has inside knowledge of his case.
As her mundane life very quickly starts to spiral, the single mother is blackmailed into drug smuggling, while her son maintains his innocence after being accused of murder.
With fast-paced storytelling and a high-pressure backdrop, the six-parter is guaranteed to get your mind racing and chest tightening, as Jo goes to extremes to protect her boy, making impossible choices along the way.
Speaking ahead of the show's release this evening, as shooting took place last November, Innocent actress Kelly, 45, said: 'I am really excited to be taking on the role of Jo, and I can't wait to tell her compelling story.
'I am delighted to be working with Buccaneer Media again, and it's a joy to be filming in Belfast.'
And when the former soap star announced her latest role on social media and shared a preview pic of herself in character aboard the aircraft, fans were quick to express their own excitement.
'Will definitely be watching!', commented Instagram user @cheekychic_biarritz.
'I cannot wait to watch this!!!! 👏👏', wrote @rachelemmawoodington.
'Katherine is a absolutely amazing actor 👌❤️🎥 [sic]', added @superfitguy.
As well as Kelly, the cast comprises historical drama star Stuart Martin as gang member Cormac, star of Netflix's Hostage, Ashley Thomas as London airport customs officer Dom, and The Fall's Bronagh Waugh as Melanie.
Rising star Harry Cadby also plays Sonny, Heartstopper's Corinna Brown portrays Kayla, and Black Mirror star Ambreen Razia is Zara.
As for the behind-the-camera crew, there are plenty of established names on board, assuring viewers that they are in safe hands.
The series is written and co-created by Mike Walden, who worked on Marcella and Whitstable Pearl, and Adam Randall of Slow Horses and iBoy.
In a teasy statement, the pair called In Flight '[their] spin on the noir genre, a high-stakes, stylish, romantic thriller with iconic characters and nerve-shredding action.'
They added: 'Jo is a character close to our hearts. She is an ordinary woman facing extraordinary odds. We can't wait for audiences to meet her.'
Rebecca Dundon, Executive Producer at production company Fremantle, also called the drama 'a surprising, propulsive standout—a high-stakes action crime thriller that combines the intensity of international drug smuggling with the emotional depth of a mother's relentless quest to save her son'.
'Set against the high-pressure world of global travel, this series offers a fresh, commercially powerful mix of suspense, sacrifice, and gripping drama,' she promised. 'I couldn't put the script down, and audiences everywhere will feel the same.' More Trending

The complaints come after presenter Morgan McGlynn Carr has shared a health update with fans after she revealed she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. The TV star and author, 38, who has a regular spot as a cheese expert on the show, recently posted a picture of her from her hospital bed as she announced the 'earth shattering' news. In October 2024, Morgan received her diagnosis after finding a lump in her right breast and received six months of weekly chemotherapy. On two occasions doctors told the mother-of-one the lump was breast-feeding related, but after having a gut feeling something still wasn't quite right she went for a third opinion and got her diagnosis - which she says 'saved her life'. Now, Morgan has shared a positive health update with fans as she appeared on the latest episode of the Channel 4 show on Sunday. Speaking to hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy, she broke down in tears as she told the anchors she's been given 'the all clear'. While fighting back tears, she explained: 'As some of you know and some of you don't, I'm already wobbling, I am sorry.' Tim then reached to comfort Morgan before she continued: 'I got diagnosed with breast cancer last October, so we got the all clear, like a week ago.' The cheese presenter confirmed she is now 'healing' as she joyfully admitted she received some 'very, very good news' following surgery last month. Sharing her journey, she wrote: 'On the eve of my daughter's first birthday, I found a lump in my right breast. I'd recently stopped breastfeeding and assumed it was related. 'But my husband made me promise to go to the doctor first thing Monday - and, by pure chance it happened to be CoppaFeel! Week. My feed was full of women talking about breast cancer. 'The GP said it was definitely breastfeeding-related. The breast clinic consultant said she was 99% sure it was nothing. 'I got a third opinion and that decision saved my life... Trust your gut. Always. 'After scans, biopsies, mammograms, CTs, MRIs - in October 2024, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. It was nothing short of earth-shattering. 'But we've done our best to keep life feeling normal as possible for our daughter. Treatment is different for every person. No two paths are the same. But here's what happened to me: 'I was given a week before chemo to get my ducks in a row, which included chopping my hair off and IVF and egg retrival, something I'm incredibly grateful I was able to do. 'Then came six months of weekly chemotherapy. The hardest thing I've ever done. Some weeks I sat for 13 hours at a time, and I was never alone thanks to my friends who kept me company. On two occasions doctors told the mother-of-one the lump was breast-feeding related, but after having a gut feeling something still wasn't quite right she went for a third opinion and got her diagnosis - which she says 'saved her life 'And those who've been through the cold cap you'll known it's no joke. I had to catch my breath and get through the hardest parts before sharing this. So why now? 'Because if even one person sees this, and it prompts them to check a lump or get a second opinion, it could save a life. Please, trust your gut.' Morgan revealed she had a successful surgery last month and received some 'very good news' a few days ago. She continued: 'Two weeks ago, I had surgery - and a few days later, we got some very, very good news. 'I've not really known how to share this. To be honest, I'm still finding my feet after everything.' Morgan added: 'This year has changed me. There's still a road to recovery to come - but I'm here, I'm healing, and I'm more grateful than I've been.' What is triple negative breast cancer? Triple negative breast cancer is a form of the disease that does not have receptors for the hormones oestrogen or progesterone, or the protein HER2. This makes it trickier to treat due to the tumour not responding to these hormonal or protein therapies. Triple negative breast cancer makes up around 10-to-20 per cent of all forms of the disease. It tends to be more aggressive than other breast tumours, with patients having a worse prognosis. The condition is more common in those under 40 and black women. It is diagnosed via a sample of the cancerous cells. Symptoms are similar to other forms of breast cancer. These can include: Lump or thickening in the breast Change in the size, shape or feel of the breast Dimpling of the skin Change in the shape of the nipple Rash or blood-stained discharge coming from the nipple Swelling in the armpit Treatment usually involves surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. Chemo may be given first to shrink the tumour before a patient goes under the knife. It may also be given after the operation to prevent the disease returning.

The Happy Valley actor, 40, partied with friends at the festival ahead of watching headliners Chase and Status. James cut a casual figure as he layered a red open shirt over a black tank top and matching jeans. The Grantchester star, who was seen partying with singer and actress Lily Allen earlier this year, was joined by two male pals while enjoying beverages at the festival. It comes hot on the heels of the actor partying with Ms Allen at Lido Festival in east London on June 14, where the pair had their fans talking after being seen cosying up to each other as they chatted and danced together. However, two weeks later Norton was reportedly seen holding hands with socialite Flora Huddart at the NYC Downlow nightclub at the Glastonbury festival. Ms Huddart is the daughter of Vogue stylist Arabella Huddart and the sister of Georgiana Huddart, co-founder of cult swimwear brand Hunza G. Ms Allen, 40, ended her four-year marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour, 50, last December after reportedly discovering that he had a secret profile on the exclusive dating app Raya. He dated his War And Peace co-star Jessie Buckley from 2015 to 2017 and was engaged to the actress Imogen Poots, but they split after six years together in 2023. I thought I was going to have kids. The life I thought I was going to have disappeared at 38.' The Happy Valley actor previously insisted he hasn't given up hope of having a family, despite the end of his engagement. He told The Sunday Times: 'Getting older is a struggle if you are freaking out about the choices you've made, but I don't carry regret. 'And, you know, some of the choices recently weren't mine, yet I don't feel begrudging. Maybe next year I'll have a family and a relationship ... 'You have a certain amount of control over your life and choices you make, and at other times you don't. 'But if you made those choices or not, it's a shame to spend time agonising over either.' And despite his desire to have children, James doesn't think it would have been 'fair' for him to start a family in recent years. He said: 'I don't sit on set where I'm playing a dad and feel sad and broody. 'I love hanging out with kids - most of my friends have kids so I'm not quite in step with my peers - but the past few years have been the busiest I've been, so it would not have been fair to bring a child into that. 'Also, the inherently unfair benefit of being a man is there is less rush. I am lucky I can have kids later, so now I'm happy, actually, with my life. I feel really excited by the choices I've made.'
