Torquay United 'relaxed' ahead of key game at Truro
Torquay United manager Paul Wotton says his side are "relaxed" ahead of their key National League South trip to leaders Truro City.Wotton left the Cornish club in the summer to take over at Plainmoor and both sides still have eyes on winning the title, with three games to play. The fourth-placed Gulls are three points behind Truro and face the Tinners while second-placed Worthing travel to third-placed Eastbourne Borough. "The mood's relaxed because it's not in our hands," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon."There's three teams above us, so there's no pressure."We've trained very well, I've got the team in my head that we're going to play, and the subs, and we'll go down there and look forward to what will hopefully be a good game."
Wotton could hold an advantage over other managers in the sixth tier having spent almost five years as Truro City manager. He led the Gulls to a 1-0 win over his former club when the two sides met at Plainmoor in the league on New Year's Day.Wotton's side also recorded a 1-0 win over his former employers in the FA Trophy back in November. "I know a lot about them, I signed a lot of their players and I'm very familiar with a lot of their players," he added."They're having a fantastic season. I've watched them and we'll go down there and give as good an account of ourselves as we possibly can."He added: "Everyone who's going to be there, including the players and the fans, they know how important the game is if you want to go on and achieve something this season."We're as prepared as we possibly can be, we've left no stone unturned and we're going own there in good spirits."But we're playing against a very, very good football team who've got an exceptional home record, so it's going to be tough."

Title disappointment can spur Torquay on
Torquay United goalkeeper James Hamon has said the side will be spurred on by narrowly missing out on promotion last Gulls finished second in National League South on goal difference as Truro City won the title thanks to scoring two more goals across the 46-game were knocked out of the play-offs in the semi-finals by Boreham Wood, who would go on to claim the other promotion spot. "To come so close and still miss out was such a difficult pill to swallow," Hamon told BBC Radio Guernsey. "I think it's still going to take time to get over, which is a good thing I feel because I think we could use that to add fuel to the fire to really kick us on this year and go one better and get up into the National League."That's exactly where this club deserves to be and the fans deserve it to be, and I think when it goes up once it's got the chance and the ambition to go again and again." The Guernsey-born goalkeeper signed a new contract earlier this week to keep him at the club for a second Gulls will embark on a second campaign under new fan owners the Bryn Consortium, having gone into administration and had 10 points docked in March 2024."The whole club within itself is definitely in a great place and it's only going to get better, which is a massive improvement from where it was two years ago," said Hamon."Us as players now we've got the chance to give the fans what they want and hopefully go one better this season than what we did last year."He added: "They're averaging 5,000-5,500 people at home games, they're all buzzing about the place again, there's no bad words to be said about anybody really, which is great."Prior to that in the years gone by it's been a bit of a difficult situation between fans and owners and managers, but the foundations that the Bryn Consortium have built now everybody seems to be singing off the same hymn sheet and it's all lining up to be a successful season and push Torquay back to where it belongs."

Is Cleverley the right man for the job? Argyle fans have their say
So Plymouth Argyle have got their man in Tom Cleverley. Chairman Simon Hallett says the former Watford boss is the "the perfect person to be our next head coach". But what did you think? Here are some of your takes on Cleverley being the new man in the Argyle dugout. Andy: I welcome any new manager and wish Tom all the best and hope great things come for Argyle. Am still a bit concerned by his lack of experience but every novice manager has to start I am not convinced. I hope I am wrong but really wanted a more experienced manager with proven success. Hoped for Ruben Selles but guess the South West wasn't for As an Argyle fan living in Hertfordshire, I've seen plenty of Watford over recent years. The fans adore Tom Cleverley and you don't reach that status at a club without being top quality. Some fans seem worried that it's another ex-Man Utd player but I see Cleverley having very little in common with Rooney. Andrew: Another unproven manager with little track record but a flashy name who will use us as a stepping stone. But that's what everyone wants. Personally I'd rather we gave it to one of our own like Paul Hopefully now, we have a manager that will be loyal through success and the board loyal to him through the tough times. Give him a full season in charge and see where we are. If promotion does come along, make it very hard for him to leave. Mark: Great appointment after being relegated. Shows ambition to go straight back up with the new early signings. Need a top striker, with [Ryan] Hardie we will be flying. Leonardo: Rooney 2.0? Wish we had gone for an older, wiser, experienced manager to steady the good ship Argyle after recent seasons of turmoil and upheaval, not another experimental unproven project. Surely new young managers should start with a few non-league clubs?Keith: We needed someone with Argyle ties, not another celebrity. No win scenario. Cleverley fails and Argyle fail, or he succeeds and accepts the first offer to go elsewhere. Shilton, Rooney, Cleverley... just another high profile name. Will we ever learn?Phil: Well done to the board for making a decision early. It remains to be seen if it's the right one but Tom has shown qualities needed for success so let's give the man a fair go. A decent start will have the fans backing him to the hilt and quickly forgetting last season's We got the best coach available. The Green Army will back him. He must keep Joe Edwards as he's our captain and leader. His blood flows green and he has the ethos of the club in his Definitely a positive appointment. Thought that Tom was very unlucky to get the sack at Watford. It promises a very attractive brand of football, the way he manages. Hopefully he can get Argyle back in the Championship at the first attempt and can persuade Adam Randell and Ryan Hardie to stay at Delighted. Decent young coach who sold £30m worth of players last summer, reinvested just £3m and still managed to improve on their previous finish.

£1.5million bid from Championship club for Northern Ireland star rejected
The midfielder starred for Orient in League One this season, playing in the east London club's Play-Off Final defeat to Charlton. Now the 24 year-old could move to the club that tasted victory at Wembley last month. However, Nathan Jones' Charlton are just one of a handful of Championship clubs - including Sheffield United and Swansea City - keen to snap up the Manchester United youth product. Orient boss Richie Wellens believes Galbraith has the ability to play in the English top flight. 'There is no doubt in my mind that Ethan Galbraith is a Premier League player,' said Wellens earlier this season. Galbraith has won seven caps for Northern Ireland. Another Northern Ireland star who may be on the move is goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell. His club Birmingham City are expected to sign England U21 international James Beadle on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, a move that would likely see Peacock-Farrell drop down to third-choice ahead of Birmingham's return to the Championship. Meanwhile, former Northern Ireland international Lee Hodson has signed for newly-promoted National League South club Totten. The 33 year-old was 24 caps for his country and was part of the squad at Euro 2016.
