Teen dies in Prayagraj after Yamuna Bank Park gate falls on her
The deceased's father lodged a complaint at the Kydganj police station against the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the contractor who built the gate.
Amanya Gupta, 17, was the youngest of the four daughters and one son of retired PMC employee Umeshchandra Gupta, resident of Kydganj locality.
After the walk, the three sisters reached the main gate of the park. While opening it, the gate suddenly fell on Amanaya. Suffering serious head injuries, Aamanya fainted on the spot with blood oozing out of her head.
Hearing her screams, people present around removed the gate and pulled her out of the rubble. She was rushed to SRN Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
SHO Kydganj police station, Sanjay Kumar Singh, said that the deceased's father had filed a complaint against the PMC officials and the contractor accusing them of negligence. Legal action will be taken after investigating the matter, he added.
Locals said that about two weeks ago, the gate of the park had collapsed causing a fracture in a youth's shoulder. After that the people living in the slum in front of the park had somehow erected the gate and tied it with wire and rope.
The Yamuna Bank Park was constructed by PMC on the banks of Yamuna river under the Mahakumbh project. Mayor Umeshchandra Ganesh Kesarwani had inaugurated the park on April 26, 2025.

2 constables injured after being hit by speeding bike
Prayagraj: Two constables, including Ranjeet Kumar and Lokesh Kumar Baisala, posted at Baghrai police station, sustained serious injuries after they were hit by a speeding bike near Losanapur ground road under the limits of Baghrai police station of Pratapgarh district late on Monday night. The biker, identified as Adarsh Kumar Yadav alias Gopal Yadav (22), a resident of Nawabganj (Prayagraj), was arrested by the police. Yadav was also hurt in the incident. Both the injured constables were initially taken to Baghrai CHC, where doctors referred them to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj for treatment. The other cops on duty, however, managed to nab the errant biker, who was also injured in the incident. Cops took all three injured persons to Baghrai CHC and then to the district hospital in Pratapgarh for treatment. UP Police functioning improved due to hard work, smart tech use: Yogi
Lucknow: Highlighting the changes in the state's law and order machinery since 2017, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that under the previous govts, it used to take years to catch criminals, but now they are apprehended within 24-48 hours. He said that with hard work and smart use of technology, UP Police have ensured that no criminal has the chance to escape the law. Addressing the opening ceremony of a three-day summit on 'Dimensions of cyber warfare, multilateral legal frameworks, forensics, and strategic countermeasures' organised by the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Forensic Sciences, the CM attributed this improvement to the better use of technology and forensic science. "Before 2017, there were only four forensic labs in the state, and their condition was terrible. Now, 12 new labs have been established, and six more are under construction. Mobile forensic units are being provided in 75 districts to collect forensic evidence," he said. Attack on ward councillor: HC stays arrest of Patna mayor, son
1 2 Patna: Patna high court has stayed the arrest of city mayor Sita Sahu and her son Shishir Kumar, wanted for allegedly assaulting ward councillor Jeet Kumar during a general body meeting of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on July 11. A single bench of Justice Shailendra Singh, while hearing a criminal writ application filed jointly by Sahu and her son, passed the order on Aug 14, however, the same was made available on Monday.
