Hyd: Police arrests two involved in tampering passports, Visas
Hyderabad, May 15 (UNI) The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in tampering passports and Gulf Visas, a police release said here on Thursday.
On reliable information, the RGIA Police along with SOT Shamshabad Zone apprehended two accused persons at Nampally in the city, for being allegedly involved in tampering passports, VISAs and encouraging ECR passport holders to bypass immigration laws and sending the innocent people to gulf countries without POE (Protect of Emigrant) certificates, Work Contract documents.
The entire operation was coordinated by Anji alias Penegalapati Ramanjaneyulu, resident of Asif Nagar , Hyderabad and Satyanarayana, resident of Penugonda Mandal of West Godavari District (Andhra Pradesh), who are currently absconding.
Seized Tampered VISAS (14 Nos), Passports (14 Nos), Copies of the Flight tickets up and
down from RGI Airport to Muscat (16 nos) besides seven mobile phones, one laptop and stamps from the accused.
They used two types of documentation to mislead authorities.
In one type, passports contained a 'CANCELLED' stamp on a work VISA, supported by tourist VISAs and round-trip tickets to be shown at departure.
In the second type, the 'CANCELLED' stamp was removed, and documents included original work VISAs, Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), and boarding passes to be shown at the arrival immigration in Gulf countries.
As per emigration rules, ECNR passport holders could travel for work without POE clearance if they had original work VISAs and PCCs.
ECR passport holders, however, required POE, job contracts, insurance, and original work VISAs. Ignoring these requirements, the accused sent individuals on tourist VISAs, destroyed those documents mid-journey, and presented fake work-related documents upon arrival. UNI KNR SSP

India, Central Asian nations condemn Pahalgam attack, reaffirm commitment to fighting against terrorism
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) India and the five Central Asian countries today unequivocally condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and reaffirmed their firm commitment to fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. In a joint statement, issued after the 4th meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue held in New Delhi today, under the chairship of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, the countries reiterated that providing safe haven, using terrorist proxies for cross-border terrorism, terror financing, arms and drugs trafficking, dissemination of a radical ideology and abuse of cyber space to spread disinformation and incite violence, goes against the basic principles of humanity and international relations. They stressed that perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of terrorist acts must be held accountable and brought to justice. In this context, they called for early adoption of the UN Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism. They also stressed the need to strengthen UN-led global counter-terrorism cooperation and fully implement the relevant UNSC resolutions, Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and FATF standards. The participating ministers at the dialogue include: FM Sirojiddin Muhriddin of Tajikistan, Deputy PM and FM Murat Nurtleu of Kazakhstan, FM Zheenbek Kulubaev of Kyrgyz Republic, FM Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan and FM Bakhtiyor Saidov of Uzbekistan. The Ministers appreciated the First meeting of the India-Central Asia Joint Working Group on Chabahar Port held in Mumbai in April 2023. India welcomed the interest of Central Asian countries to utilise the services of the Shahid Beheshti Terminal, being operated by India, at the Chabahar Port for facilitating their trade with India and beyond. They agreed to continue engagement for further developing the transit and transport potential of their countries, through simplification and streamlining of goods transit procedures, including greater use of TIR Carnet between India and Central Asia for movement of goods. The ministers underlined the importance of greater financial connectivity between India and Central Asian countries, including through digital payment systems, enhanced interbank relations, and trade in national currencies to encourage greater trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. They also expressed interest in setting up a Joint Working Group to explore ways to further deepen banking and financial connectivity between India and Central Asian partners. The Ministers emphasised optimum usage of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) to enhance connectivity between India and the Central Asian countries. They stressed that connectivity initiatives should be based on the principles of transparency, broad participation, local priorities, financial sustainability, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. India reiterated its support for the membership of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in INSTC. In this context, Ministers appreciated the initiative taken by Kazakhstan to develop the eastern branch of INSTC. The Ministers noted the importance of holding regular consultations among the National Security Councils of India and the Central Asian countries to strengthen efforts to counter terrorism and other emerging challenges in the region. They looked forward to the third edition of the Consultations to be held in the Kyrgyz Republic. They also expressed interest in joint exploration of rare earth and critical minerals. Appreciating the outcomes of the first India-Central Asia Rare Earth Forum held in September 2024 in New Delhi, they called for holding the second India-Central Asia Rare Earth Forum meeting at the earliest convenience. They also encouraged exchange of delegations to explore new areas of cooperation in critical minerals. Earlier, EAM Jaishankar in a post on X said he expressed India's appreciation of the Central Asian partners condemning the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 'Delighted to chair the 4th India-Central Asia Dialogue in Delhi this morning. 'Thank my Central Asian colleagues DPM & FM Murat Nurtleu, Deputy Chairman & FM Rashid Meredov, FM Zheenbek Kulubaev, FM Sirojiddin Muhriddin and @FM_Saidov for their assessments and views. 'Expressed India's appreciation on Central Asian partners condemning the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 'Held productive and wide-ranging discussions on themes of connectivity, regional security & terrorism, technology cooperation, development partnership and people-to-people exchanges. Delhi Court extends judicial custody of Tahawwur Rana till July 9
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana till July 9. Special Judge Chander Jit Singh after the hearing extended the judicial custody of Rana, who was produced before the court through video conferencing (vc) after expiry of his earlier judicial custody. In this matter, Tihar Jail Authorities had been permitted earlier by the court to file its response to the application of Rana seeking to talk with his family members. The application of Rana will be considered by the court on June 9. The National Investigation Agency filed its reply on the application of Rana and also supplied its copy to the Jail Authorities on the direction of the Court. Tahawwur Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, is said to be a close associate of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks main conspirator David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani, a US citizen. The court had earlier also dismissed the application of Rana seeking to talk with his family members. A group of 10 Pakistani terrorists went on a rampage in Mumbai in November 2008, carrying out a coordinated attack on a railway station, two luxury hotels and a Jewish centre, after they sneaked into the metropolis using the sea route in the Arabian Sea. About 166 people were killed due to this assault. Rana is accused of conspiring with Headley and operatives of designated terrorist organisations to carry out the three day-long terror siege of India's financial capital. The US Supreme Court earlier this year dismissed the review petition of Rana, against his extradition and cleared the way for his transfer to Indian custody. UNI XC RN

Armed with court order, Assam police attach property of cyber criminals
Guwahati, June 6 (UNI) In a significant move, the Assam Police have attached the property of cyber criminal Shariful Islam worth over a crore rupees and sent a strong message to the cyber criminals that a similar fate awaits them. Armed with an order by the Morigaon sessions court, the district and police administration of Morigaon district attached the property of Islam, a known cyber criminal who had amassed property with over crores of rupees by duping people. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), of Morigaon Samiran Baishya said that the police, along with the district administration, have executed the order of the Morigaon sessions court to attach the property of Islam. "It is the first such incident in Assam where the court has issued an order to attach the property of cyber criminals," Baishya said, adding that Shariful is absconding but operations are on to nab him. "There were four cases registered against him. The Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) has the provision under Section 107 that the property of criminals can be attached," he said. It may be mentioned here that Morigaon in Assam has become the "Jamtara" of Assam, with most of the cyber crimes being done by the criminals in the district. Baishya said that the police are working to nail more cyber criminals in the district, and similar action will be taken against them also. Baishya, who has been investigating the cyber crimes in the district, said that police have arrested 265 cyber criminals in the last two years from Morigaon who had been duping people of their hard-earned money. Narrating on the modus operandi, he said that the criminals like Islam procured people's PAN card and made fake Aadhar card, which were later used to dupe people. According to police records, Islam had been operating 16 bank accounts opened under different names. "We found that while the names and address of the account owners were different the photograph he used of himself. We have records that he has done transactions worth crores of rupees from these accounts," he said adding that police are now investigating other cases of cyber crimes also. UNI ANP BD
