Daniel Dubois believes beating Oleksandr Usyk would put him among greats

'Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson and Rocky (Marciano) and all of those greats who have come and gone,' Dubois said when asked who his boxing idols are.
'This fight puts me up there with all of them and to be remembered through all kinds of history.
'It speaks for itself on Saturday and then I'll put myself up there. I'll bring chaos to the ring and win by any means necessary.'
It has not been a smooth journey to the top for Greenwich-born Dubois.
He was heavily criticised for his 2020 defeat to Joe Joyce before he managed to string together four straight wins prior to his round-nine loss to Usyk in Poland two years ago.
He has since been on a devastating run, stopping Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Joshua in the space of nine months between December 2023 and September 2024 to earn himself a rematch.
'I couldn't of imagined and wouldn't of known how it would happen but I would've loved to believe that I would get there you know?,' Dubois added on whether his younger self would have thought he would get a chance at undisputed status.
'It's been a long road with a lot of work, going to the gym with my dad, sparring, training, it's been a long road and I've been training for this day for a long time.
'I believed in myself, Frank (Warren) has been there matching us right and the whole team has been moving forward and staying focused.'
Queensbury promoter Warren said: 'Last time they were fighting Daniel the boy, now they're fighting Daniel the man and that's the difference.
'On the strength of his record, he's the best heavyweight of his generation (Usyk) but everyone is the best until they get beaten and I think his time is up.
'Daniel has the tools and the ability to do the business and come away with the prize.'

Oleksandr Usyk leaves Daniel Dubois baffled with four-word press conference message
Oleksandr Usyk left Daniel Dubois and his team baffled with one comment at the final press conference before their rematch at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Usyk interrupted Dubois' head coach, Don Charles, to repeat a four-word message that left everybody perplexed. Usyk said: 'Don't push the horses…don't push the horses.' Charles, visibly confused, said that he needed a translator while Dubois sat speechless. What Usyk actually meant is uncertain, as he grinned from ear to ear after briefly disrupting proceedings. Usyk's bizarre message came after a tense exchange between Charles and the Ukrainian's manager, Egis Klimas. Charles accused Klimas, of being 'asleep' while his fighter beat Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, after Klimas claimed Dubois had not improved since his first fight with Usyk. Charles said: 'We know what we have done, we know what we have been witnessing, he must have been sleeping for the last three fights Daniel has had, he must have been fast asleep, can someone please wake him up?' Klimas had a quick retort to Charles, saying that while he was 'asleep', Usyk also beat Tyson Fury twice. Frustrated by Klimas, Charles told him that Fury was not here to defend himself and that they needed to keep their focus on the man in front of them, saying that this was a Daniel Dubois show. Charles replied: 'Tyson's not here to defend himself. Keep your eye on the Job. This is a Daniel Dubois show. So let's stick to that.' Usyk appeared to take offence to Charles' unwavering confidence in his man as he called on the trainer to settle down in his own unique way ahead of what promises to be an explosive weekend of heavyweight action. Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury enjoying very different summers ahead of comebacks
Joshua has recently been snapped enjoying some time away on the beach - just weeks after it was revealed he will make a return to action this year Anthony Joshua appears to be enjoying his summer, while British rival Tyson Fury continues to put the work in ahead of his boxing comeback. The two-time heavyweight champion has not fought since suffering a devastating knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last September at Wembley. Both Joshua and Dubois seemed destined to face off in an immediate rematch, but 'AJ' needed some more time away from the ring after sustaining some minor injuries in their September showdown. The 35-year-old has since had surgery on his elbow and is eyeing a comeback before the end of the year. Joshua has been enjoying some time outside of the ring following the surgery and the 35-year-old has recently enjoyed luxury trips to Oman, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. The Brit was recently given a hero's welcome and was mobbed by fans after touching down in Ghana last month. His little tour around the globe has not stopped, though, after he was recently pictured soaking up the sun in Mykonos, Greece. 'AJ' was seen wearing a pair of Under Armour shorts as he purchased a cigar from a vendor and shopped for a few bargains in the process at the beach. The Brit took a quick dip in the sea to cool off from the scorching Greek sunshine, showing off his muscular physique. With Joshua enjoying as much sun as possible, Fury - on the other hand - is continuing to put the work in after making a retirement U-turn. The 'Gypsy King' - who retired in January following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk - is set to return to the ring next year after Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh revealed that the Brit will fight again in 2026. Over the last few months, the Morecambe native has been seen training regularly. Fury continues to ramp up training ahead of his comeback and the boxing legend posted a video of himself going for a morning run on Thursday. While many fighters will be taking time off to enjoy as much sun as they possibly can, the 'Gypsy King' is seemingly taking no family trips away and is eager to get back into shape. Amid talk of a potential showdown between Joshua and Fury next year, the pair must get through warm-up bouts first. During a recent appearance on 'The Boxing Voice,' Alalshikh is eager to make the dust-up between the British heavyweights. The two stars have exchanged verbal jabs over the years, but are yet to resolve their rivalry inside the ring. While the Saudi boxing chief admits they are trying to host the fight in 2026 - both men would need to get through tune-up fights first. " Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury next year, we are trying to do it and we are thinking about it," he revealed. "Why? Because they are both coming off losses. It's to build it up." Earlier this month, Joshua had vowed to "take the division by storm again" ahead of his highly-anticipated return this year. Speaking at the unveiling of Matchroom Boxing's rebranding, the heavyweight star is plotting a destructive comeback. He said: "I took a year out, first time in about 12 to 13 years as a professional, not even including the amateur stuff. "But I took a year out, get my body right. I'm at a different stage in my career where I can look at time a bit differently. I'm all these years in front of me like the main man here, so I've got to make like really executive decisions about what I do next. So the minute I come back, you know I'll come back with a bang rather than just keep rolling through and just going with the motions of the sport. I just thought, let me take some time out so when I do come back I come back fully active and ready to go and take the division by storm again." When is Anthony Joshua's next fight? Joshua is expected to make his return to the ring before the end of the year. Eddie Hearn has recently revealed that 'AJ' is now looking to move on with his career after continuously calling for a fight with Fury, but still hopes to one day settle the score with the 'Gypsy King' before calling it a day. In an interview with Sky Sports, when asked about the future of Joshua, Hearn replied: "Yeah, good, he had that operation recently... that elbow surgery, which went very well. You will see him return in October, November or December. We're looking for that opponent in the top ten. Deontay Wilder I think fights next week. "I know he is a name that has been mentioned. For AJ, like I said, 2026 I think could be his last year in the sport and it seemed to get headlined, but what else do you expect? That is three or four fights away. He cannot go on forever! He is motivated. Physically feeling good now to return to camp and ready for one little last roll to this incredible career. "Hopefully that involves a fight with Mr (Tyson) Fury. But after he is done parading his kilt around on Netflix, hopefully he joins us in the ring in 2026. It would be an incredible occasion for British boxing. But first thing is first, AJ will return during that period this year and obviously he must win and that performance will tell us a lot about the future of Anthony Joshua."

Alexander Isak tells Newcastle he wants to LEAVE as Liverpool consider £125m transfer
Alexander Isak has told Newcastle that he wants to explore a move away in a bombshell development. Isak, 25, has put Liverpool on red alert after they made an approach to sign him last week. The Premier League champions were told by Newcastle that the striker wasn't for sale and Liverpool turned their focus to fellow striker Hugo Ekitike. On Wednesday, Liverpool announced the signing of 23-year-old Ekitike after agreeing a £79million deal with Eintracht Frankfurt. It then emerged that Isak hadn't travelled with Newcastle's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia. Newcastle insisted that the Swede has been nursing a minor thigh injury and medical staff were concerned about the long-haul flight. However, as first reported by The Daily Mail, Isak has informed Newcastle that he wishes to consider his options and explore a transfer away from the club. He also doesn't want to commit to signing a new contract, with his current deal not expiring until 2028. Eddie Howe revealed following Saturday's friendly with Celtic that he'd sent Isak home because of the 'speculation' over his future. If Newcastle were forced to sell, they'd demand a fee in excess of £125m - a new British record. Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal have also been linked with a money-spinning move, but are, of course, have the same overall ownership as the Magpies. Howe explained Isak's absence for the Celtic game, a 4-0 loss, post-match. "It was my decision. He travelled back to Glasgow with us but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him," the Magpies boss confirmed. "The last thing he wanted is to be sat in the stand watching, that wasn't fair to him. But I'm confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window. "It's difficult for me to give 100 per cent clarity on any player. Alex is happy at Newcastle, he loves the players, the staff, the team. I'm confident he'll be here at the start of the season. Should Liverpool make a bid for Alexander Isak? Have your say in the comments section. "Yes, I've had discussions with him but that's not abnormal. I respect a player's career and how short it is. Alex has been really good, he's trained really well and I realise there'll be noise around him." Liverpool have already spent close to £300m this summer, breaking the British record themselves with the £116m signing of Florian Wirtz while making a further six signings. With the potential sales of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott, the Reds DO still have the financial capacity to bid for Isak - even after signing French forward Ekitike.
