Germany beat France on penalties to reach Euro 2025 semis
German defender Kathrin Hendrich was sent off after 13 minutes for pulling an opponent's hair, and Grace Geyoro opened the scoring for France from the resulting penalty.
Germany hit back with a superb equaliser when Sjoeke Nuesken flashed a header from a Klara Buehl corner into the net in the 25th minute.
France had two goals ruled out for offside and Nuesken had a second-half penalty for the Germans saved.
With neither side able to fashion a goal in extra time, the game went to penalties, with Berger both firing home herself and then saving Alice Sombath's penalty to send Germany through.

"He won't be doing the 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke," Castel told Franceinfo on Monday. "It's a choice we made because we're in a post-Olympic year and he's never had the opportunity to do a 200m medley without having a race before or after it on the same day. He wanted to test this isolated 200m medley and see what he was capable of." The swimming events at the world championships will take place in Singapore from July 27 to August 3. Venus Williams wins doubles comeback after 16-month break
VENUS Williams marked her return to competitive tennis with a victory in the women's doubles at the Washington Open on Monday. The 45-year-old American, who had not played a match in 16 months, partnered with Hailey Baptiste to defeat Eugenie Bouchard and Clervie Ngounoue 6-3 6-1 in the round of 16. Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, last competed at the Miami Open in March last year.
