Royal Ascot horse dies seconds into race as ITV viewers left devastated There were tragic scenes on the second day of Royal Ascot There were tragic scenes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday There was tragedy on the second day of Royal Ascot as a horse died just moments into a race. Harry's Girl was racing for the Richard Hannon-Sean Levey combination in The Queen Mary Stakes at the world-famous racecourse when she broke down and died seconds into the five furlong race on Wednesday afternoon. The tragedy left racing fans in the stands and viewers at home devastated, with ITV presenter Ed Chamberlin saying it "cast a shadow" over the day's action. ‌ It was the dame's third race, having won on her debut at Newmarket in April before also racing at York last month. ‌ A statement from Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday read: "Unfortunately, Harry's Girl suffered a fatal injury during The Queen Mary Stakes. "Our thoughts go out to all connections at this time." Shortly after the race, Chamberlin confirmed the sad news to viewers watching at home, describing it as "desperately sad". Article continues below He said: "We've just had this confirmed by Ascot - Harry's Girl did suffer a fatal injury. "Our thoughts go out to connections," he added. "It's desperately sad for the Hannon team after they celebrated with their winner Haatem yesterday." ‌ The tragedy left ITV viewers devastated, as one took to X to write: "A sad start to the day, with a horse lost in the Queen Mary. "It's hard to celebrate or feel excited for the rest of the meeting when this happens. Thoughts with Harry's Girl and those who loved her. Rest easy, love." Another added: "Sadly Harry's Girl suffered a fatal injury. Talented horse, gone too soon." ‌ Tragically, Harry's Girl's death comes just weeks after another horse trained by Hannon, Norman's Cay, died during the Derby meet at Epsom. The Queen Mary Stakes was ultimately won by True Love, ridden by Ryan Moore for Aidan O'Brien. She finished ahead of 100-1 shot Flowerhead in second, while Lennilu finished third. ‌ The win also gave O'Brien his first ever victory in the Queen Mary Stakes. Speaking before the race Harry's Girl's handler said: "She's a very precocious filly who won well on debut at the Craven meeting and did everything right bar win at York in the Listed Marygate Fillies' Stakes. "I really thought she'd win that day and she appeared home and hosed but got caught close home by a fast finisher on the other side of the track which she didn't see coming. Article continues below "Her work has been very good, and she looks magnificent in her coat. "It's a typically competitive Queen Mary, but she's a strong traveller with plenty of boot and this race has been the plan all along so I'm hopeful of a bold show."

Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha 'absolutely devastated' as co-star axed from show in ITV cuts

ITV Loose Women star Nadia opened up on her YouTube channel about the cuts. Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha has said she's "devastated" after learning that a co-star and friend had been axed from the ITV show. The move comes as the channel announced it was being forced to cut the budget for the daytime TV schedule, hitting Loose Women, Lorraine and Good Morning Britain particularly hard. Nadia spoke about the huge cuts on her YouTube channel, about how the changes were affecting her and how one of her close friends no longer had a job, writes The Mirror. ‌ Speaking with husband Mark Adderley, she said: "From next year there will be no Loose Women audience. I am totally devastated by this fact, I can't get over it at all. Not only because the audience is so important for the show, but also my dear friend Lee who I work with every day.' ‌ Comedian Lee Peart has been the warm-up act for the last eight years on Loose Women. ITV's budget cuts were first announced last month, with a number of popular programmes taking a huge hit as the broadcaster battles a mounting financial crisis. The Lorraine Show will lose its long-standing hour-long slot from January 2026, and will now air for just 30 minutes, from 9:30am until 10am. The show, presented by Scots TV legend Lorraine, has seen its airtime been slashed in half and the talk show has also been restricted to being broadcast just 30 weeks of the year. Fears have been circulating that the former journalist may quit her show, which has been running since 2010, as a result of the cuts. Lorraine received the news after returning to work following a surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes last year. ‌ The operation was described as "preventative" and performed via keyhole surgery.' As part of the shake-up, Good Morning Britain will have its current 6am to 9am slot extended until 9:30am. During the 22 weeks of the year that Lorraine will now be off-air, Good Morning Britain's airtime has been extended until 10am, adding an extra hour to its original schedule. ‌ ITV competitions are also taking a hit. ITV's Andi Peters and Jeff Brazier will reportedly no longer be sent on lavish holidays abroad. Over the past year, the duo have been whisked off to a number of sun-soaked locations to front ITV competitions, appearing on programmes such as Good Morning Britain, Loose Women, This Morning and Lorraine. Andi's enviable locations have included the Maldives, Australia, Cape Town, and Florida while Jeff has been sent to Thailand, Sri Lanka and Malta. However, channel executives believe it's in "bad taste" to continue flying presenters to exotic destinations after announcing hundreds of devastating redundancies across ITV as part of their cost-saving measures. The moment Kim Woodburn branded Phillip Schofield 'phoney' on This Morning

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page Following her death, Kim Woodburn has left behind an 'iconic' legacy within British television for her no-nonsense put-downs and fiery clashes. From taking down an entire panel on Loose Women to butting heads with Phillip Schofield on This Morning, the British public will sorely miss the How Clean Is Your House? star. In a career spanning nearly 25 years, Kim became a household name after her stints on reality TV shows Celebrity Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! She later went on to present shows such as Too Posh to Wash, When Kim & Aggie Went to Hospital and Kim's Rude Awakenings. But regardless of what show she was on, she will always be remembered for her unapologetic attitude. Taking a look at her most iconic moments, here is a summary of her best clashes on TV. Kim Woodburn has been hailed by viewers as an 'icon' of British television (Credits: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock) In what was perhaps her most memorable onscreen argument, Kim locked horns with former This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby in 2017. After being asked about her blazing rows in the Celebrity Big Brother House, Kim seemed less than impressed by their line of questioning. Responding to whether or not she regretted going in, she said: 'No, I'll tell you why, I may be 74 but don't mess with me.' She later continued: 'Don't think that you're going to bully me, I've been around too long.' Towards the end of the interview, she then called Phil 'a big phoney' after Holly thanked her for coming on the show. It would certainly not be the last time she became embroiled in a spat on the This Morning sofa, however, after she appeared on the show again later that year and accused Kate Smurthwaite of talking 'utter tripe' during a discussion over whether it was rude to call someone 'darling'. Taking on Loose Women To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page On This Morning, it might have been two against one as Kim took on Holly and Phil. However, on Loose Women, the How Clean Is Your House? star took on the entire panel during a scathing episode on the ITV show. After butting heads with Coleen Nolan on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, Kim proved they were still far from friends a year later when she appeared on the talk show. Kim fumed at the former singer by saying: 'I wouldn't want to sit and talk to lying trash like you,' before getting up from her panel seat and walking out. Coleen could only reply by saying: 'I think that's sad', to which Kim said: 'She's a horrible person.' Celebrity Big Brother rows To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page If you thought This Morning and Loose Women were intense, wait until you see what happened on Celebrity Big Brother. Appearing alongside Coleen, Jedward, Chloe Ferry and Spencer Pratt, Kim got herself into some very heated moments while in the house. A particular highlight came when Kim called Jamie O'Hara a 'chicken livered bugger.' After Jamie then went on to call Kim a bully, she continued by shouting: 'Go away, you adulterer. 'You're an adulterer. You're an adulterer who two-timed his wife.' Security thankfully managed to separate the two, but for viewers at home, it was certainly entertaining. I'm A Celebrity argument Kim was renowned for some iconic moments when she appeared on I'm A Celebrity Big Brother in 2015. One memorable moment came when she complained about her fine hair breaking as she adapted to jungle life. But her most iconic moment has to be her heated exchange with Australian boxer Joe Bugner after a Bush Tucker Trial. After Joe refused to cook when the camp's meal was dropped in, Kim snapped by saying: 'Either shut up or do it.' She then continued: 'I'm not going to have this. It is utterly ridiculous.' Writing on X, @SamuelJohn100 said: 'The amount of quotes she gave us is truly iconic.' Sharing her view on Matt Hancock Rounding out this list of Kim's best moments has to be her brutal assessment of former Health Secretary Matt Hancock during an appearance on GB News. Asked by host Dan Wooton what she thought of Hancock entering I'm A Celebrity, Kim gave a furious response. Speaking alongside two other guests, Kim began by saying: 'When you're going home to that woman and your three children and you're shagging your secretary morning, noon and night,' before being cut off. Responding to another guest who said 'it has nothing to do with the jungle', Kim replied: 'What's wrong with you? Are you an adulterer by any chance?' The shocked faces of her fellow guests can only sum up what a hilarious moment it was. Writing on X, one viewer described the interview by saying: 'One of the very many TV GOLD moments from our Kim Woodburn. The emphasis on 'shagging' kills me.' Got a story?
