Morocco Grants Housing Aid to Over 55,000 Beneficiaries
The program had recorded 55,512 beneficiaries, 47% of whom are women, Baitas said at a press briefing following the weekly cabinet meeting, adding that the majority – 76.3% – are residents in Morocco, while 23.7% are Moroccans living abroad.
Fez tops the list of cities with the most beneficiaries, followed by Berrechid, Meknes, Kenitra, Casablanca, El Jadida, Benslimane, Settat, Oujda, and Berkane.
The number of applicants has reached 177,344 across Morocco's 12 regions, with 37% under the age of 35 and an average applicant age of 41, Baitas said.
About 62% of applications concern homes priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams, while the remaining 38% are for homes costing less than 300,000 dirhams.
The housing support program, launched for the 2024–2028 period, offers direct financial assistance to first-time homebuyers. Eligible buyers receive 100,000 dirhams for homes priced under 300,000 dirhams, and 70,000 dirhams for homes priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams, taxes included.

Turkiye is also one of the top destinations for Moroccans, with 15% of the Sunergia survey respondents ranking the country as their favorite destination for summer vacation. As for local tourism, Moroccans prefer Tangier as a destination for tourism, alongside Marrakech and Agadir. About 38% of Moroccans see Tangier as their top destination, followed by Marrakech (33%), Agadir (26%), and Tetouan (22%). Morocco's temporary tax amnesty program contributed to a significant slowdown in cash circulation growth during 2024, according to Bank Al-Maghrib's annual financial report. The peak occurred in August at 446 billion ($ 48.86 billion), then declined to MAD 444 billion ($ 48.59 billion) by year-end. Economic implications and concerns The continued rise in cash circulation presents several economic challenges, including reduced financial transparency, increased tax evasion, growth in undeclared activities, and diminished effectiveness of monetary policy. These concerns have prompted Bank Al-Maghrib to encourage citizens and merchants to adopt electronic payment methods.
