Swift RPF action saves life of boy who fell from train

Nagpur: After a 4-year-old boy fell off a running train from a sleeper class emergency window, the personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South East Central Railway (SECR) worked on war footing and succeeded in saving his life.
Now admitted to a Raipur hospital, the boy has been declared out of danger.
Sagnik Bera had slipped through the open emergency window of the Kurla-Shalimar Express train and landed on his head on the track in the Dongargaon-Jatkanhar Railway Division of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday evening. The RPF's Herculean effort paid off, especially their swift actions in the golden hour after the boy was picked up from along the track.
Sagnik was travelling with his mother, Anandita, a native of East Midnapur (West Bengal), in Coach S-3 from LTT to Kharagpur. As Anandita was climbing to the upper berth, Sagnik fell through the open emergency window while playing on the seat. Her screams prompted passengers to pull the chain, halting the train. Escorting head constable TNS Chouhan and lady constable Jyoti Bala from RPF Nagpur Division acted swiftly.
They, along with the mother, ran on the tracks for almost a kilometre to pick up Sagnik, who had fortunately landed at a safe distance from the track.
Divisional security commissioner, SECR, Deep Chandra Arya said that a team was sent from Dongargaon to help the escorting RPF personnel, who had picked up the boy from the track. "The RPF staffers checked on Google for the nearest hospital and took the boy to a medical facility at Dongargaon," said Arya.
"The boy was later rushed to a hospital in Rajnandgaon and from there to Raipur," said the RPF official. Arya instructed inspectors Taruna Sahu and Prashant Aldak, in-charges of RPF posts Rajnandgaon and Dongargarh, to coordinate real-time updates.
SECR general manager Tarun Prakash, Bilaspur principal chief security commissioner Munawar Shaikh, and Nagpur divisional railway manager Deepak Kumar Gupta were kept informed, and they too directed all possible assistance to save the child's life.
Due to Sagnik's critical condition, he was referred to Pendri Medical College, Rajnandgaon. Assistant sub-inspector Arjun Singh, along with sub-inspector DB Meshram and head constable SK Mishra ensured his smooth transfer to a hospital in Raipur for advanced treatment.
The RPF team coordinated with hospital authorities & transport department, arranging an ambulance and accompanying the boy to Raipur, where a CT scan & other tests were conducted. The RPF also retrieved the family's belongings from the train & provided essential supplies, including medicines & water, to the distressed mother.

Two siblings found dead, missing father suspect

On Thursday, when Lakshmipati visited the house again, he saw Ravishankar's bicycle outside. While trying to move it to the verandah, he experienced a foul smell. He pulled a window curtain aside and was shocked to see the children lying motionless on a bed inside the room. He alerted police immediately. After inspecting the scene, the cops discovered a pesticide bottle on a stool in the verandah. Ravishankar was missing and his mobile phone was switched off. Lakshmipati told the police that his son was under severe financial stress due to multiple debts. Ravishankar reportedly stopped showing up at his workplace about a week prior to the incident. The missing man's letter allegedly read, "No one is responsible for my death, I have achieved nothing in my life. I am taking the children along with me. I am under heavy debt." Based on this note and other evidence, the cops suspected that first he killed the children, and then may have attempted to take his own life or fled the scene. They are also probing if he had borrowed money to send his wife abroad for work. His family members noted that though Ravishankar often mentioned being in debt, he never mention the total amount of debt and the reasons behind cops have launched a search operation to trace Ravishankar. AAP govt turns commission agent: Jakhar on land acquisition
Ludhiana: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar accused the AAP government of conspiring to usurp 25,000 acres of land in Ludhiana and said that the state government was playing the role of commission agent for big real estate houses. He also said that both chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal were acting as land aggregators. The AAP government is colluding with real estate dealers to illegally usurp prime agricultural land of Ludhiana by cheating farmers, Jakhar said, adding that BJP would not allow such nefarious designs to succeed. AGTF seizes marijuana worth 2cr, arrests five for smuggling in Jaipur
1 2 3 4 Jaipur: In a major crackdown on interstate drug smuggling, Rajasthan's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Friday seized 424 kg of marijuana concealed in a truck and arrested five individuals, including the alleged kingpin in Jaipur. The seized consignment, valued at approximately Rs 2 crore in the international market, was being trafficked from Chhattisgarh to Jaipur under the guise of a medical delivery. According to ADG (Crime and AGTF) Dinesh M N, the AGTF team intercepted a Scorpio SUV at the Shivdaspura toll, which was found escorting a mini-truck. Based on a tip-off, the police set up a blockade at multiple locations. The truck was later seized in the Chaksu police station area, loaded with sacks of marijuana hidden beneath boxes labelled as medicines. The arrested accused include Sumer Meena (48), the alleged ringleader and a resident of Khorabisal, Jaipur West; Narendra Singh Jat (45); Nanagram Balai (55); Deepak Gurjar (38); and Himanshu Mata (29) of Karnal, Haryana. All five were booked under the NDPS Act.
