Gaza has seen its food stocks run out since Israel cut off all supplies to the territory in March and then lifted that blockade in May, but with conditions that it says are needed to prevent aid from being diverted to militant groups. However, aid agencies say that only a trickle of what is needed is currently reaching people in Gaza.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
said the health agency was unable to deliver any food for nearly 80 days between March and May, adding that the resumption of deliveries was still far below what is needed.
"The 2.1 million people up in the war zone that is Gaza are facing yet another killer on top of bombs and bullets, starvation; we're now witnessing a deadly surge in malnutrition related disease," Ghebreyesus said.

Economic ties with Beijing may be easing but with caution, says FM Sitharaman
New Delhi: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday indicated the possibility of stepping up India-China business engagement, stating that various domestic stakeholders have been calling on the government to facilitate greater access to the Chinese market and investments, and that Beijing has also reached out for the purpose. "There is something, some kind of a beginning. As to how far it will go that's something we have to wait and see. But it might help the economy. However, a sense of caution would have to be built into it," Sitharaman said. She was speaking at a function held in Delhi for the release of a book in honour of economist Shankar Acharya. Kotak Mahindra Q1 profit flat at Rs 4,472 crore as provisions, credit costs rise
Kotak Mahindra Bank reported flat growth in consolidated net profit in the June quarter at ₹4,472 crore, as provisions linked primarily to microfinancing advances shot up, credit costs spiked, and margins shrank. The Mumbai-based bank, with the fourth highest Nifty weighting among lenders, had reported a net profit of ₹4,435 crore in the corresponding period last year. At a standalone level, profit was ₹3,282 crore in the June quarter, down 7% on year.
