A BODY has been found in the search for a missing hiker who vanished on a walking route more than two weeks ago.
Richard Dawson was reported missing on Saturday, July 26, after he failed to return from a planned walk of the Five Sisters of Kintail.

The 61-year-old had arrived in the Glen Shiel area of the Highlands on Friday, July 11, but failed to show up for his hotel booking.

Police Scotland today confirmed a body has been found in the search for the hiker.
His body is yet to be formally identified, but Richard's family has been informed.
The grim discovery was made in an area below the ridge of the Five Sisters of Kintail around 4pm yesterday.
The body was located and recovered with the assistance of the HM Coastguard helicopter and Kintail Mountain Rescue Team.
There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Richard was described as being 6ft 1ins, of athletic build, with short brown hair, a goatee beard and wearing glasses.
He had a dark coloured rucksack and usually wore a baseball cap or a straw hat.

A Scots teen who has been locked up for six years for plotting a mass shooting at his own school has been unmasked for the first time. Felix Winter wanted to recreate the horrors of the notorious Columbine massacre in Colorado in the United States in 1999 at his Edinburgh secondary school. He "idolised" the killers who gunned down 12 students and a teacher during a murderous rampage. He was today sentenced to six years in jail for Terrorism offences at the High Court in Glasgow after police unravelled his plans. Reporting restrictions meant he could not be identified or pictured before now, due to his age. Felix, now 18, , from Edinburgh, repeatedly spoke about launching a deadly attack at his secondary school, referring to the planned massacre as "Doomsday" and describing how he would one day "clear it out". The court previously heard that Winter "idolised" the two gunmen responsible for the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Colorado, which left 12 students and a teacher dead. A police investigation was launched in summer 2023 after a photograph circulated on social media showing Winter in full combat gear, holding an imitation firearm on school grounds. The image caused widespread panic among pupils and parents. At the time, Winter had already been referred to the UK's anti-terrorism Prevent programme, designed to stop individuals from becoming radicalised. Winter pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace and an offence under the Terrorism Act, with his crimes taking place between June 2022 and July 2023. Police have today released a photo of Winter as they praised officers who worked tirelessly during an "extremely complex" investigation. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said:'This was an extremely complex and fast-moving investigation, and I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the diligence and hard work of the officers who worked tirelessly to gather the evidence and bring the perpetrator to justice. Footage shows a seething driver of a grey Nissan denying he was involved in an accident. He can be heard shouting: "I didn't hit your f***ing car, prove it." The man repeatedly claims the damage is the "wrong side" before approaching the other driver screaming "call the f***ing police then." James, the owner of the black BMW, proceeds to claim that the damage on his motor matches with the mark left on the Nissan. He points toward the black paint on the Nissan arguing: "That's consistent with the damage on my car". Shocked locals watched as both drivers started shouting at each other in the middle of the road. The footage then switches to James alleging that "this gentleman here has just threatened to kill me". The driver of the Nissan then goads James, continuing to deny that any damage had been caused. James added that when he asked the driver for his insurance details, he refused saying "I don't see why I should". More people started to appear on the street to see what happened before the "aggressor" left the scene. James claims he notified the police online but they said they weren't going to attend because nobody was injured. "I posted a link of the video on the Nextdoor app to see if anyone local knew of him and a woman called Caroline mentioned she had run in with him previously," James added. As they swam, the siblings were reportedly swept by the current and separated by a hundred metres, Civil Protection sources told DiariTots21. Their dad reportedly made a desperate attempt to save them and had to be rescued himself after nearly drowning. Three local cops had heroically jumped into the sea to rescue the family, with Chief Inspector Jose Luis Gargallo telling reporters that the sea was rough and a yellow flag had been raised. One of the officers, identified only by his first name and the initial of his surname as Younes A, said: 'A hotel worker was trying to get one of the three out of the sea when we arrived. 'We were told when we helped get that person out that another two people were in the sea who could be minors. 'We tried to locate them, saw bits of clothes and seconds later were able to locate and get a young girl out of the water and began resuscitation and another police force was the one responsible for getting the other child out of the sea. 'When the emergency services arrived they took over the efforts to save them until they said they couldn't do anything more. 'We don't know the circumstances leading up to them getting into difficulties. 'I leapt into the water with two other colleagues to get the father to safety first before going back to rescue one of the children.' Lifeguards were not at the beach as their duties finished at 8pm - just 48 minutes before the harrowing incident unfolded, Gargallo said. Cops managed to save the children's dad, who had swallowed a lot of water and was very exhausted, Gargallo said. The children were also brought to the shore but tragically could not be resuscitated. Gargallo said: "When the officers arrived, there were three people with significant difficulties getting out of the sea; all resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the children, but without success. "We did everything possible, we put the father in a safe area, we also took the minor and performed resuscitation on him, but without success." He added that CPR continued to be performed until emergency services arrived. Gargallo explained how the couple had five children, and while the dad and two of the children were out swimming, the mum stayed at the hotel with the other three. Salou Town Hall carried out a minute's silence just before midday local time today following the tragedy. Authorities said the deaths marked the 15th and 16th fatalities on Catalan beaches since June 15. The number "already exceeds by five those registered in the same period last summer". Around five hours before the British children died, a 54-year-old German tourist drowned at a nearby beach in the resort of Cambrils. He was rescued alive but died soon after he reached the shoreline. The tragic incident occurred around 4.30pm yesterday at Cap Sant Pere beach in Cambrils. Cambrils' mayor Oliver Klein said afterwards: 'We profoundly regret the loss of a human life on our coast. 'It's a tragic incident which has left us deeply moved. I want to express my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person affected.'
