
Al Dhaid Club concludes 30th Ramadan Shooting Championship
Organised in collaboration with the UAE Shooting Federation, the championship took place at the club's shooting hall and saw wide participation from various age groups. The event reflected the club's commitment to promoting sports culture and encouraging engagement from all segments of society—both amateurs and professionals—in a competitive Ramadan atmosphere that fostered sportsmanship and community spirit.
Intense Competition Across Different Categories
The championship featured fierce competition among participants across different categories, including juniors, youth, and adults, as well as professional shooters. This diversity provided an opportunity for all participants to showcase their skills and enhance their abilities in this traditional sport, which enjoys great popularity in the UAE.
In the "Young Shooter" category (ages 6-14), Abdullah Amin Mathna Taher secured first place, while Mattar Saeed Mattar Dalmouk Al Ketbi claimed the top spot in the youth category (ages 15-20). In the men's category (ages 21-50), Abdulrahman Saad Kamal Al Shorbaji emerged as the winner, whereas Emad Faisal Tawfiq Qasim took first place in the senior men's category (ages 51 and above). The broad age range of participants highlighted the strong turnout and enthusiasm surrounding the event.
Outstanding Performances in the Professional Categories
The professional competitions showcased remarkable skill and precision. In the "Youth Rifle" category, Sultan Saleh Mohammed Hassan claimed first place, followed by Fatima Obaid Al Suwaidi in second and Malak Ali Al Bashar in third.
In the "Open Rifle" category, Yasmeen Abdulrahman Tahlak secured the top spot, with Shurooq Hassan Al Ali and Saleha Hassan Abdullah Al Ali taking second and third places, respectively.
The "Youth Pistol" category saw Abdullah Obaid Rashid Al Ali emerge victorious, while Mohammed Kamel Al Kaabi secured second place, and Reem Abdullah Al Ketbi finished third. Meanwhile, in the "Open Pistol" category, Ahmed Abdullah Ibrahim Al Amiri clinched first place, followed by Amin Mathna Taher Ahmed in second and Salem Mohammed Abdullah Al Badi Al Tuniji in third. The strong performances highlighted the intense competition and high level of skill among the participants.
A Grand Closing Ceremony Honouring the Winners
The championship concluded with a prestigious awards ceremony attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Shooting Federation, and Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of Al Dhaid Club. Also present were Saif Ali bin Dallwan Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee, Malek Musabah Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Marketing and Investment Committee, Hamad Rashid Mohammed bin Masoud Al Tuniji, Director of Al Dhaid Municipality, and Mhir Obaid Al Khayyal Al Tuniji, Executive Director of Al Dhaid Club.
The attendees praised the championship's exceptional organisation, emphasising that its continued success over the past 30 years reflects the club's vision of supporting traditional sports, refining young talents, and providing a dynamic sports environment that blends entertainment with fair competition. Panels will delve into MENA's burgeoning $38bn connected TV market, dissect the content strategies of major digital players such as TikTok and YouTube, and explore how regional platforms are carving out their space. One of the most anticipated sessions will spotlight the rise of vertical micro-dramas—short-form content of just one to three minutes—which has grown into a $5bn global trend and presents a major opportunity in the Arab world. Next-generation sports broadcasting will also be a focus, with discussion on how AI, virtual reality and over-the-top (OTT) platforms are revolutionising fan engagement in a sports rights market valued at $6.5bn. Mashreq's SMASHREQ TikTok padel game smashes records, connects with Gen Z
Mashreq has revealed details behind the success of its latest SMASHREQ campaign, which was rolled out in the form of an augmented reality (AR) game on TikTok, connecting Mashreq with the padel community. Reportedly, the first-ever padel game on TikTok, SMASHREQ has officially claimed the title of TikTok's top AR sensation, outperforming more than 40 other games released during the last two years. The campaign was launched to raise awareness about of Mashreq's long-standing association with padel and to reinforce the bank's involvement in sport and wellness. In addition to connecting with youth through digital engagement and padel gamification, the brand also aimed to establish relevance, strengthen Mashreq's positioning as a 'premiere padel brand'. Using creative, entertaining content, Mashreq reflected padel as a dynamic, social sport that resonates with both existing followers and new audiences, thus, creating a community and establishing a network of Padel enthusiasts. Mashreq also created a hook advertising film to aggressively promote the trending game. Rollout of the SMASHREQ campaign The game went live on TikTok from 25 March 2025 to leverage from Ramadan's social traffic. The game has already been on the platform for 30 days, as of 25 April 2025, and will remain on the platform for another 30 days. Mashreq has ensured relevance and reach through a programmatic push combined with digital PR. Additionally, through this period, Mashreq had influencers endorsing the game, paid social content to promote the game, and even incentivised the game itself to increase engagement. TikTok also noticed that content creators have organically picked up the game, played it, and promoted it on their channels. The campaign was supported by collaborations with some of the UAE's top padel players who promoted challenges around the game such as goading people on to beat their high scores. Top players from the UAE Padel Association (UAEPA) and the Egyptian Padel Federation (EPF) advocated for the game. Success of the SMASHREQ campaign While most TikTok content garners attention for approximately 70-90 seconds, Mashreq, quite literally, smashed it with a commendable dwell time of 200 seconds, which is a whopping 143 per cent above the norm. 'Players can't get enough. With an average of 2-3 returns for another round, it's clear that SMASHREQ is the game everyone's talking about,' said Suad Merchant, Global Head of Brand, Partnerships, and Corporate Communications at Mashreq.
