Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum praises Kuwait's shooting excellence at the Amir Championship

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The men's and women's trap competitions of the His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Shooting Championship are set to begin today at the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club. Around 220 male and female shooters, along with their technical and administrative teams from 18 Arab and international countries, will participate. Official training for the event will begin at 9:00 am, with the competition scheduled to start at 2:30 pm. The championship promises high-level competition, featuring numerous shooters with previous experience in the Olympics and various world and continental tournaments. The His Highness the Amir Championship is widely respected and recognized for both its technical expertise and its exceptional organization, earning admiration from national shooting federations worldwide. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Hasher Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Shooting Federation, expressed his enthusiasm for attending the event in Kuwait. He noted the significance of the championship and shared his appreciation for Kuwait's success in shooting sports on the global stage. He remarked, "As always, my connection to Kuwait and its shooting achievements is personal. Kuwait has consistently raised its flag in international competitions, including the Olympics and regional tournaments." Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Hasher Al Maktoum continued, "When it comes to hosting major championships, Kuwait has continually excelled. The His Highness the Amir Championship stands as a prime example of this success. The organizing team has not only maintained a high standard but continues to set new benchmarks in creativity and excellence, garnering widespread praise from participants." He also commended the athletes competing in the championship, acknowledging their commitment to competing at the highest level. "I look forward to meeting many of the Kuwaiti shooters during my visit," he added, emphasizing the strong bonds he shares with them and wishing success for all competitors in their pursuit of top results.

Al Dhaid Club concludes 30th Ramadan Shooting Championship

Organised in collaboration with the UAE Shooting Federation, the championship took place at the club's shooting hall and saw wide participation from various age groups. The event reflected the club's commitment to promoting sports culture and encouraging engagement from all segments of society—both amateurs and professionals—in a competitive Ramadan atmosphere that fostered sportsmanship and community spirit. Intense Competition Across Different Categories The championship featured fierce competition among participants across different categories, including juniors, youth, and adults, as well as professional shooters. This diversity provided an opportunity for all participants to showcase their skills and enhance their abilities in this traditional sport, which enjoys great popularity in the UAE. In the "Young Shooter" category (ages 6-14), Abdullah Amin Mathna Taher secured first place, while Mattar Saeed Mattar Dalmouk Al Ketbi claimed the top spot in the youth category (ages 15-20). In the men's category (ages 21-50), Abdulrahman Saad Kamal Al Shorbaji emerged as the winner, whereas Emad Faisal Tawfiq Qasim took first place in the senior men's category (ages 51 and above). The broad age range of participants highlighted the strong turnout and enthusiasm surrounding the event. Outstanding Performances in the Professional Categories The professional competitions showcased remarkable skill and precision. In the "Youth Rifle" category, Sultan Saleh Mohammed Hassan claimed first place, followed by Fatima Obaid Al Suwaidi in second and Malak Ali Al Bashar in third. In the "Open Rifle" category, Yasmeen Abdulrahman Tahlak secured the top spot, with Shurooq Hassan Al Ali and Saleha Hassan Abdullah Al Ali taking second and third places, respectively. The "Youth Pistol" category saw Abdullah Obaid Rashid Al Ali emerge victorious, while Mohammed Kamel Al Kaabi secured second place, and Reem Abdullah Al Ketbi finished third. Meanwhile, in the "Open Pistol" category, Ahmed Abdullah Ibrahim Al Amiri clinched first place, followed by Amin Mathna Taher Ahmed in second and Salem Mohammed Abdullah Al Badi Al Tuniji in third. The strong performances highlighted the intense competition and high level of skill among the participants. A Grand Closing Ceremony Honouring the Winners The championship concluded with a prestigious awards ceremony attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Shooting Federation, and Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of Al Dhaid Club. Also present were Saif Ali bin Dallwan Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee, Malek Musabah Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Marketing and Investment Committee, Hamad Rashid Mohammed bin Masoud Al Tuniji, Director of Al Dhaid Municipality, and Mhir Obaid Al Khayyal Al Tuniji, Executive Director of Al Dhaid Club. The attendees praised the championship's exceptional organisation, emphasising that its continued success over the past 30 years reflects the club's vision of supporting traditional sports, refining young talents, and providing a dynamic sports environment that blends entertainment with fair competition. This commitment further strengthens Al Dhaid Club's position as a leading community sports destination in the Emirate of Sharjah.
