Teacher accused of molesting disabled student in Rembau school
The incident reportedly occurred on May 5, with the student lodging a police report on July 5.
Rembau police chief Supt Hasani Hussain confirmed the case, stating that the student, enrolled in the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), alleged the molestation took place around 10.40 am.
The student claimed the 36-year-old teacher massaged her legs after she complained of pain following a cross-country run.
'According to the student, the teacher massaged her legs, starting from the soles of her feet to her calves and then to her thighs.
During this, she felt the teacher had touched a sensitive area,' Hasani said.
The student initially shared the incident with a friend before reporting it to another teacher on June 30. The suspect was detained at 10 pm on July 5 but has denied the allegations.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. - Bernama

Court of Appeal reduces welder's jail term for stepdaughter sexual assault
PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has reduced a welder's prison sentence from 24 years to 16 years for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter on four separate occasions. A three-member bench led by Justice Datuk Azman Abdullah allowed the 57-year-old man's appeal and reduced each charge's sentence from six years to four years. The court ordered the sentences to run consecutively from the date of his arrest on March 21, 2022. Both the accused and the prosecution filed cross-appeals to the High Court challenging the sentence, but the High Court dismissed them in January last year. Defence counsel Mohamad Zaidan Daud urged the appellate court to consider his client's age, contending that a lengthy custodial term would have a 'crushing effect.' He further requested that the sentences run concurrently, which would have resulted in a six-year term. Zaidan also argued that under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, the maximum penalty is 20 years' imprisonment, and therefore the 24-year sentence imposed by the Sessions Court exceeded the statutory limit. Deputy public prosecutor Iznina Hanim Hashim opposed the request, stressing that the offences were distinct acts committed on different occasions and therefore warranted consecutive sentences. Melaka To Launch G.A.M.A Programme To Combat Bullying In Boarding Schools
MELAKA, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government, through the State Education Department (JPN), will launch the Anti-Bullying Movement for Boarding School Students (G.A.M.A) Programme next week in a bid for a safer and bully-free environment in boarding schools. State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman described the programme as a strategic initiative and added value to the 2019 formation of the Melaka Anti-Bullying Task Force, whose role is to combat bullying in boarding schools. "The G.A.M.A programme is organised by the Student Affairs Unit, Student Development Sector of the Melaka JPN, in collaboration with the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, the Melaka Police Headquarters and the Islamic Family Laws Division of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM). "This programme is also in line with the Education Ministry's 'Reformasi@Sekolah' agenda, which emphasises support, accountability and strategic cooperation between schools, local communities and enforcement agencies,' he told reporters today. Earlier, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sekolah Menengah (SM) Pay Fong dormitory building, which was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof. Elaborating, Rahmad said the G.A.M.A programme launch would be held at SM Sains Muzaffar Syah on Wednesday (Aug 27). Meanwhile, Rahmad said sterner action would be taken against students involved in the bullying case at a boarding school in Melaka, including the possibility of expulsion. Immigration Department detains 52 foreign workers in Kulim factory raid
ALOR SETAR: The Malaysian Immigration Department detained 52 foreign workers during a raid at an electrical component manufacturing factory in Kulim yesterday. Kedah Immigration Director Mohd Ridzzuan Mohd Zain stated that the operation began at 11.30 am and was conducted under 'Op Mahir' based on intelligence and public complaints. He confirmed that 695 individuals were inspected during the raid, including Malaysian, American, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Myanmarese and Chinese nationals. 'Of the total, 52 foreign workers aged between 22 and 52 years were detained on suspicion of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963,' he said in a statement today.
