Air India Cancels Milan-Delhi Flight Due To Maintenance Issue
Mumbai: Tata Group-owned private carrier Air India on Sunday said it cancelled its Milan-Delhi flight of August 16 after detecting a maintenance issue at the last minute. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination at the earliest, Air India said in a statement. "Flight AI138 operating from Milan to Delhi on August 16 was cancelled due to a maintenance task identified during pushback," the statement said. "Our ground team in Milan extended immediate assistance to all the affected passengers, providing hotel accommodation and offering full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling as opted by the passengers," it said. According to Air India, along with the maintenance issue, the operating crew of the flight come under the mandatory flight duty-time limitation norms. Air India generally operates its Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft fleet to cater to European destinations. The airline, which came under private hands in January 2022, has, of late, been delaying, cancelling some flights at the last minute due to technical and maintenance issues. This is despite airline CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson repeatedly claiming that Air India has carried out comprehensive checks on its Boeing 787 aircraft fleet. A Delhi-bound Air India flight from Bhubaneswar was cancelled just prior to its departure on August 3 due to high cabin temperature. On July 31, an Air India Boeing 787-9 aircraft flying to London had to abort take-off at Delhi airport and return to the bay due to a technical issue. In a message to the customers recently, while listing out the various steps taken after the fatal crash of an AI-171 flight to London soon after take-off from the Ahmedabad airport, Wilson said detailed inspections of its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft were done and "no issues were found during inspection".

46% Metro Commuters Spend Up To 30 Mins Just To Reach Station: Survey
1 2 Nagpur: Around 46.3% of Nagpur Metro's passengers spend between 10 and 30 minutes or more simply to reach a station before even boarding the train, a RITES primary survey revealed. The data has also been used for the city's Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) shows how last-mile connectivity continues to remain a major hurdle for the project. While ridership numbers speak of acceptance, the time taken to access stations paints a different picture. Around 33% of passengers spend 6–10 minutes reaching their nearest station, while 20.4% manage it within 5 minutes. A significant 15.9% spend 11–15 minutes, and nearly 28.6% take as long as 15–30 minutes. Nearly 2% of commuters take over 30 minutes. Altogether, about 46% of total passengers invest up to half an hour merely to get to a station. The survey findings also reveal that a majority, 59.3%, of passengers rely on the Metro for work and business trips, underlining its role as a daily transport backbone for the city's working population. Students account for 13.7% of the ridership, while 26.9% travel for other purposes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo In terms of frequency, the system has clearly emerged as a daily mode of travel, as 91.1% of passengers use the metro every day. The rest — barely 3.2% weekly, 2.9% monthly, and 2.9% occasionally. The survey also notes that cost is not a barrier for most commuters. A massive 86.7% of passengers spend less than Rs10 to reach their Metro station, while just 0.6% spend over Rs50. This makes it clear that the real challenge is not affordability but accessibility. Experts suggest that unless Nagpur Metro addresses the bottlenecks of feeder services, pedestrian access, and parking facilities, the issue of prolonged station access time will continue to dampen its efficiency.
