Om Infra stock soars over 12% on landing ₹199 crore hydro-mechanical order from NHPC

Mint26-06-2025
Shares of Om Infra Ltd surged over 12 percent intraday on Thursday, June 26, 2025, following the announcement of a landmark contract worth ₹ 199 crore. The order, awarded by state-run hydropower giant NHPC Ltd, involves turnkey hydro-mechanical works for the Dibang Multipurpose Project, a 2,880 MW power generation facility in Arunachal Pradesh. The substantial order has not only lifted the stock but also reinforced investor confidence in Om Infra's technical capabilities and its focus on strategic water infrastructure projects.
The contract comprises two distinct components:
Equipment Supply: Om Infra will provide piping, intake and draft tube gates, hoists, mandatory spares, tools, and tackles for the Lot‑5B package—valued at ₹ 167.86 crore on an ex-works and on CIF/CIP basis.
Services Package: The firm will manage inland transportation, site handling, installation, testing, commissioning, and performance testing for these supplied components, with this portion valued at ₹ 31.98 crore.
Together, these form a comprehensive turnkey contract requiring execution within 46 months from the start date. The combined scope positions Om Infra as a single-point delivery partner—from manufacturing to site commissioning.
Om Infra has built its reputation in water management, irrigation, civil construction, and engineering services. MD & CEO Vikas Kothari emphasized that this project leverages the company's deep experience in hydro-mechanical components for large-scale dams, reinforcing its strategic ambition to expand into hydroelectric, pumped-storage, and water-management sectors.
Adding to its ongoing projects, this ₹ 199 cr contract significantly boosts Om Infra's revenue visibility, providing a medium-term pipeline and scope for margin expansion through high-value engineering services.
The successful execution of complex hydro-mechanical contracts like the Dibang project bolsters Om Infra's credentials in handling sophisticated, technically-intensive work—a key advantage in winning future tenders tied to national initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission and other hydropower and irrigation schemes.
In his remarks, Mr. Kothari highlighted Om Infra's commitment to quality, efficiency, and technological integration during project execution. With a 46-month timeline, the firm has sufficient runway to stage orderly delivery, potentially translating into improved profitability and steady revenue accrual over multiple fiscal years.
The deal also enables the firm to 'support regional development and strengthen our standing as a trusted infrastructure partner,' aligning with national priorities. The Dibang project itself, as India's largest hydropower facility, underscores the scale and prestige attached to this contract.
On the news, Om Infra's shares hit a day's high of ₹ 146.50, gaining nearly 12.5 percent. Despite the rally, the stock remains 36 percent below its 52‑week high of ₹ 227.90 reached in August 2024, and 56 percent above its 52‑week low of ₹ 94 seen in April 2025.
Over the past year, the stock has declined approximately 22 percent, reflecting volatility amid broader market and sector-specific factors. However, the company has progressively clawed back up 8 percent in June, following incremental gains of 12 percent in May, 0.6 percent in April, and 9 percent in March—even after significant corrections of 27 percent in February and 10 percent in January.

Davanagere villages get 24X7 drinking water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission

Davanagere: Under Jal Jeevan Mission, 51 villages in Davanagere district now have round-the-clock drinking water — the highest for any district in Karnataka. Of 75 villages statewide with 24x7 supply, Davanagere accounts for most. The World Bank , which funded the scheme, praised the achievement and invited ZP CEO Gitte Madhav Vittal Rao to present a demo. The project is set to be officially launched on Thursday. According to sources from Davanagere zilla panchayat, the project is being implemented through state and central shares of 55% and 45%, respectively. Within the district, Davanagere taluk has implemented the project in 12 villages, the highest among the taluks. Nyamati taluk has 11 villages, Channagiri and Honnali taluks have eight villages each, Jagalur taluk has successfully implemented seven villages, and Harihar taluk is last with five villages. When contacted, ZP CEO Gitte Madhav Vittal Rao stated that their district is leading the state in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission, having successfully provided 24/7 drinking water to 51 villages. He added, "The authorities of the World Bank have appreciated this initiative and considered it as a model. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Skin Issues? The previous CEO of ZP, Suresh Itnal, did great work, and after that, I sped up the work through daily monitoring. " An IAS officer noted that households no longer need to store water in tanks as they are receiving water continuously, which will reduce unnecessary water wastage and prevent waterborne diseases. The implementation of the scheme is expected to avoid at least 25% of drinking water waste. "We have installed meters to calculate water usage and appointed members of SHG to collect water tax in the village. However, the water tax is not high; it is intended for villagers. Therefore, I appeal to everyone to use this initiative as a model and extend their cooperation to Panchayat staff and SHG members. Not only installing pipelines under the Jal Jeevan Mission, but we must also arrange water resources. Now we have sufficient water to supply 24x7, and the project will be implemented in seven more villages by next week," Rao added. V Somanagouda, a villager from Chatnalli in Nyamati taluk, expressed his satisfaction, saying, "We never expected this in a rural area. Most cities have not been getting water 24x7 but Davanagere ZP has implemented it successfully, thanks to the authorities and elected representatives." Fraud worth Rs 60 crore: EOW to summon Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra in cheating case

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) which has been probing a cheating case of Rs 60 crore against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband Raj Kundra, will soon summon them and record their statement. A senior IPS officer confirmed that an FIR has been registered on Wednesday night against the Kundra couple. 'As Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband Raj Kundra have been named in the FIR, it is a legal mandate that their statement should be recorded in the matter'. The complainant, Deepak Kothari, said that he and his company made repeated attempts to recover the money from businessman Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty, and a mediator, but failed, as they cited pandemic-related delays. A resident of Juhu, Kothari is a director of Lotus Capital Financial Services Limited, which is a non-banking financial company, which provides loans. Kothari eventually found that the couple had used the funds for personal benefit, and had cheated him. In his FIR, Kothari alleged that Rajesh Arya, who was working as a loan agent in his firm, said that Kundra and Shetty wanted to take on a business loan, and he knew them personally. A meeting was arranged in a five-star hotel in Juhu, where Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty, Arya, and the complainant, along with his son, met in 2015. Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra claimed that they were directors of Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a now-defunct home shopping and online retail platform. At the time, Shetty reportedly held 87.61 per cent of the shares in the company. Both allegedly sought a loan of Rs 75 crore at 12 percent interest, and the complainant agreed. However, the FIR said, the couple persuaded him to route the funds as an 'investment' to avoid higher taxation, while assuring monthly returns and repayment of principal. As per the complainant, he had given the loan of Rs 60.4 crore for business expansion during the period from 2015 to 2023. Believing these assurances, Kothari agreed and transferred Rs 31.95 crore in April 2015 under a share subscription agreement, followed by Rs 28.53 crore under a supplementary agreement in September 2015. The amount was allegedly credited to Best Deal TV's HDFC Bank accounts, and the couple had paid stamp duty of Rs. 3.19 lakh, the complainant alleged in the FIR. The FIR further states that despite providing a personal guarantee, the complainant received an email from Shilpa Shetty's email address that she had resigned as director in September 2016 from Best Deal TV. Kothari asked the reasons, but she did not give a satisfactory answer and avoided him. Kothari later discovered that insolvency proceedings had been initiated against the company in 2017 for defaulting on another agreement. Kothari approached the Juhu Police Station, and based on his complaint, an FIR was registered Wednesday under sections 403 (dishonest and misappropriation of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (common intention) against Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The case was handed over to EOW since the amount involved exceeded Rs 10 crore. EOW is now investigating the case and trying to trace the money trail, and the role of each suspect in the alleged conspiracy, said a EOW official.

Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra claim ‘no criminality involved' in Rs 60 cr cheating case filed against them: ‘Nothing but baseless and malicious'

Actor Shilpa Shetty and her businessman-husband Raj Kundra have issued a statement through their lawyer after a case was filed against them for allegedly cheating a businessman of over Rs 60 crore. The complaint, filed by businessman Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services Ltd, claims the incident took place between 2015 and 2023. 'My clients have been informed by certain segment of electronic and print media that there is an alleged case registered against my clients at the Economic offence wing , Mumbai. At the outset , my clients deny all the allegations against my clients which are purely civil in nature and have been adjudicated by the NCLT Mumbai on 04/10/2024. This is an old transaction , wherein the company went in to financial distress and eventually got entangled in a long legal battle at the NCLT,' said Advocate Prashant Patil, who's representing the celebrity couple in the matter. Kothari alleged that the couple took the money under the pretext of expanding their business but used it for personal expenses instead. According to him, in 2015, Shetty and Kundra approached him through a mediator seeking a Rs 75 crore loan for their company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, which promoted lifestyle products and ran an online shopping platform. The proposed interest rate was 12%. Later, they reportedly asked him to provide the funds as an 'investment' instead of a loan, assuring him of monthly returns and repayment of principal. Kothari claimed he transferred Rs 31.95 crore in April 2015 under a share subscription agreement, and another Rs 28.53 crore in September 2015 under a supplementary agreement. The total amount was credited to Best Deal TV's bank accounts. Repeated attempts to recover the funds allegedly failed, and Kothari accused the couple of 'dishonestly using' the money for personal benefit. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is currently conducting a detailed investigation into the financial transactions, agreements, and the alleged misappropriation of funds. 'There is no criminality involved, and our auditors have submitted all the necessary supporting documents from time to time, as requested by the EOW, including detailed cash flow statements. The investment agreement in question is purely in the nature of an equity investment,' argued Patil, adding, 'The company has already received a liquidation order, which has also been placed before the police department . The concerned Charter accounts have visited the police station for last one year for more than 15 times with all the evidence supporting the claims of my clients.' On the work front, Shetty will be next seen in Prem's Kannada action film KD: The Devil, slated to release in cinemas on September 4. Meanwhile, Kundra was last seen as a contestant on Prime Video India's reality show The Traitors earlier this year.
