Jagtar Singh Johal acquitted in India terror case
A Scottish Sikh man detained in India for seven years has been acquitted in one of the nine cases against him.
Jagtar Singh Johal, from Dumbarton, faces several terror charges in connection with political violence in the north of India but has never been convicted.
The 37-year-old was arrested in Punjab in November 2017, just weeks after his wedding there.
His family and legal team said all the cases against him are similar and the other eight should now be dropped.
He is accused of travelling to Paris in 2013 to hand over £3,000 to a co-conspirator in the knowledge the money would be used to fund a series of attacks against Hindu nationalists and other religious leaders in Punjab.
Mr Johal's trial for the eight most serious cases against him started in 2022 and is ongoing.

Merseyside Reform candidate removed as social media posts surface week before election
A Reform UK candidate has been expelled after "unacceptable" comments surfaced on social media. Reform UK confirmed it had removed Irene Davidson, who was due to stand as a candidate in the Blundellsands by-election taking place next Thursday, June 19. In recent days posts on Ms Davidson's X account had been re-shared on the social media platform by other users highlighting the language used in them. A spokesperson for Reform told the ECHO the social media account had not been disclosed to the party's vetting team. Harvey Weinstein guilty of sexual assault after New York retrial
Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of sexual assault in a six-week trial in New York, after his first conviction in the state was overturned last year. A panel of seven female and five male jurors deliberated for five days before unanimously voting to convict the disgraced film mogul of one of three counts. The jury found him not guilty of an additional sexual assault charge, and have yet to return a verdict on a charge of rape. The conviction is in addition to a 16-year sentence that Weinstein has yet to serve after being convicted of sex crimes in Los Angeles.
