Flying Airbus grab their second trophy of the campaign

The Wingmakers followed up their Cymru North Cup final triumph over Bangor 1876 to defeat Cymru South Cup winners Trefelin 3-2 and lift the national Cymru Cup.
It's a case of job done for Airbus boss Mark Allen, who also has his sights set on another piece of silverware before the hectic closing spell to the season concludes.
On Tuesday, the Wingmakers will take on Ardal League Corwen in the semi-finals of the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup.
Ahead of Saturday's final, Allen told the Cymru Leagues website: 'Like I've said all season, we set ourselves certain targets at the start of the year and one of them was silverware.
'It's really important for us to finish on a high, we've got the regional one but the national one is significantly better so we're looking forward to the game on Saturday and we want to win.'
Trefelin were let off the hook when George Peers prodded over from close range after Tyler McManus' hopeful effort rebounded off the crossbar.
But Peers would put Airbus in the lead when he latched on to Danny Warren's chipped pass before drilling the ball past Alex Pennock.
Airbus started the second half sharply and Jordan Evans struck a well-placed free-kick through a weak Trefelin wall and into the bottom corner.
Lively Trefelin forward Roan Piper threw his side a lifeline, but a close-range finish from Nathan Williams restored Airbus' two-goal cushion.
With seven minutes remaining, Trefelin defiantly tested Airbus's nerves after earning a penalty that Callum Saunders thumped into the bottom corner. However, Allen's men held firm to secure part two of what they hope will be a trophy treble.
What a day it turned out to be for Ryan Reynolds!
The co-chairman was at the Racecourse to see Wrexham secure a third successive promotion, while his namesake made sure Cardiff Met made it through in the Cymru Premier League play-offs.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Reynolds grabbed the dramatic goal as Met defeated Bala Town 1-0.
It was the Louis Lloyd show as Caernarfon Town recovered from an early deficit to beat Barry Town United.
Eliot Richards had Barry in front after eight minutes, however Lloyd grabbed four goals as the Canaries turned things around to record a 5-2 win. Adam Davies netted the other for Caernarfon, as Kayne McLaggon grabbed a late United consolation.

Minnesota Twins' billionaire owners make shock decision on future of the franchise

After a fire sale of a trade deadline that saw the team give up almost all of its top players, seen by many as a clear indication that a sale was inevitable, the Pohlad family has decided to keep their majority stake in the Minnesota Twins. Last October, it was reported that the family had hired the investment bank Allen & Company to explore a possible sale after four decades of ownership. But now, in a stunning move, the family has reversed course - choosing instead to take on two minority partners. 'For more than four decades, our family has had the privilege of owning the Minnesota Twins. This franchise has become part of our family story, as it has for our employees, our players, this community, and Twins fans everywhere,' a statement from the family read. 'Over the past several months, we explored a wide range of potential investment and ownership opportunities. Our focus throughout has been on what's best for the long-term future of the Twins. We have been fully open to all possibilities. 'After a detailed and robust process, our family will remain the principal owner of the Minnesota Twins. 'To strengthen the club in a rapidly evolving sports landscape - one that demands strong partnerships, fresh ideas, and long-term vision - we are in the process of adding two significant limited partnership groups, each of whom will bring a wealth of experience and share our family values. 'We see and hear the passion from our partners, the community, and Twins fans. That passion inspires us. This ownership group is committed to building a winning team and culture for this region, one that Twins fans are proud to cheer for.' The Twins have not won a playoff series since 2002 and have not won a World Series since 1991.

'Light years away from ready' - fans concerned as start approaches

We asked for your views on whether Wolves are ready for the new season as they prepare to start at home to Manchester City on are some of your comments:David: Wolves have been lacklustre, disorganised and creativity-free in all of their hardly challenging friendlies. There is little sign of a team capable of finishing outside the bottom third of the Premier Unless the sold players are replaced with established, proven ones, I fear the worst. If the pre-season games are any reflection of current squad quality, they will be in a survival battle and yet another decent manager will go because of the lack of support. He will be in No! Very poor pre-season - they are not adaptable enough, they can't change from a rigid, five-at-the-back system to counter the opposition and so get overrun in midfield. Yes, fans want more incomings but we need desperately to be able to change our playing style within a match to outplay the opposition. Clearly the loss of Semedo, Ait-Nouri and Cunha place Wolves in an unenviable place this Light years away from "ready". Embarrassing transfer policy under which we sell some of our best players each year then look around desperately for (inadequate) replacements at the last minute, as if the sales were wholly unexpected. Two points from first 10 games if we're lucky, and manager will have walked out by Christmas. What a complete, recurring fiasco. Get your money on We look OK - if the season was still five weeks away. We just seem to be lacking in all areas of the pitch. We played like it was an end-of-season testimonial. Let's hope there's three terrible teams in the league this season, as that is the only way I can see us not being in the bottom three. Time for Jeff to put his hands in his very deep pockets.

Ali Carter pockets £105k prize money after ‘Merry Christmas' text from snooker pal Mark Allen

ALI CARTER bagged £105,000 at the Shanghai Masters - but he only qualified thanks to Mark Allen. The Essex cueist reached the final where he was beaten by former world champion Kyren Wilson, 11-9. 3 3 3 But he very nearly missed out on the invitational event as he is ranked No.17 in the world, with only the top 16 given a place. Fortunately for Carter, his pal and world No.10 Mark Allen was forced to withdraw. The Northern Irishman shared the good news with a cryptic text that left Carter rather confused. Carter explained: "He just texts me and says 'Merry Christmas, mate'. "I didn't quite understand what he meant, but then I read between the lines and he said he's not going to Shanghai. "I was like 'thanks mate, I owe you a vodka!'" Carter, 46, reached the final after breezing past Le Qui and Mark Williams in the opening rounds. He then beat Xiao Guodong in a close contest 6-5 to set up a clash with Mark Selby. The tense encounter almost went to the final frame, but Carter won four frames in a row to book his place in the final. He was narrowly beaten by Wilson but collected a £105,000 cash prize for finishing runner-up.
