Charges laid following fires set in Vulcan County, Olds

Mounties out of Vulcan County and Olds, Alta., have laid charges against an Okotoks man following fires set in both towns.
In Vulcan County, on July 31, a home was set on fire.
A vehicle and several guns were stolen from the home.
And the next day, police say a man was spotted 'setting small fires in the middle of the road.'
The man took off through a field, police say, but the vehicle and some of the guns were found.
An arrest was made on Aug. 13.
Luke Peterson faces the following charges out of Vulcan County:
arson;
theft of a motor vehicle;
break-and-enter and theft (x2); and
theft over $5,000.
He also faces the following charges out of Olds:
possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized (x2);
possession of a firearm obtained by offence (x2);
possession of a weapon dangerous to the public (x2);
careless storage of a firearm (x2); and
possession of property obtained by crime (x2).
He remains in custody and will next appear in court in Lethbridge on Aug. 21.
Police also picked up a second person 'for arson and theft.'
Police have said that individual is a woman but have not named her, as the charges against her have yet to be sworn.
She's not currently in custody and is due to appear in court in Lethbridge on Oct. 8.

The golden retriever also needed medical treatment after getting bitten on its hind legs. The owner of the dog is described as a woman between the ages of 18 and 20 with brown hair. Police said the dog looked similar to a boxer. Police are asking the public to contact them at 780-458-7700 with any information regarding the incident. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

RCMP looking for man involved in Louis Bull homicide

RCMP are looking for 20-year-old Ashton Deschamps, a Louis Bull First Nation resident, who has been charged with second-degree murder. (Supplied) Maskwacis RCMP are looking for a man involved in a homicide that took place at a home on Louis Bull First Nation Wednesday. A news release said officers were dispatched to a firearms complaint around 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 where they found a deceased man. An autopsy done on Aug. 15 deemed the death a homicide. Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit has charged 20-year-old Ashton Deschamps with second-degree murder. Police are asking the public to provide any information about Deschamps' whereabouts. He has associations with Maskwacis, Edmonton and North Battleford, Sask. Tips can be called in to Maskwacis RCMP at 780-585-4600 or submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
