'Exhausted' Queen Elizabeth's six-word retort when Harry and Meghan quit
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a step back from the R oyal Family as senior working members of the Firm in 2020 and relocated to California, it sent shockwaves across the world. One person who was arguably most impacted by the decision was the late Queen Elizabeth, who worked to hold the remaining royals together during the tumultuous time.
While putting on a brave face during public engagements, the late Queen was heartbroken behind closed doors over her grandson's decision to leave the UK and the family for good. One royal author has claimed that the late monarch was 'exhausted' by the situation, which was informally dubbed 'Megxit'.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl's book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth's Legacy and the Future of the Crown claims that Her Majesty 'didn't want to think about it' when being pressed for her thoughts about the emancipation.
In the book, it was claimed that an insider - who spoke about the late Queen's reaction to Harry and Meghan leaving the Firm - said: "She (the late Queen) was very hurt and told me, 'I don't know, I don't care.'
The source said she added, "I don't want to think about it anymore."
Despite being understandably upset over the situation, Queen Elizabeth did her best to maintain some kind of a relationship with her grandson, even when they relocated to the other side of the world.
It has long been claimed that the late Queen would often call Harry and Meghan, and speak to their children Archie and Lilibet over video call.
It is also believed that despite the strained relationships, Queen Elizabeth would still send gifts to her great-grandchildren, as she famously sent Archie a waffle maker so Meghan could make him his favourite waffles for breakfast.
While the late Queen didn't often see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they left the UK, the royal family was able to spend some quality time together when the Sussexes returned to England for the monarch's Platinum Jubilee in 2022: just three months before Queen Elizabeth passed away.
It is widely believed that during the Jubilee celebrations was the only time the Queen met Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet, who is named after the late monarch's childhood nickname.
While Queen Elizabeth did spend some time with her great-grandchildren, she was still upset over not seeing them more regularly, and expressed her sadness over them not attending a sleepover weekend at Balmoral Castle.
Katie Nicholl said in the book: "It was a source of sadness to the Queen that she got to see so little of Archie and Lilibet and that Harry and Meghan were not able to join her for a weekend at Balmoral in August when the Queen used to host a 'sleepover' for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren."

Harry and Meghan's ‘desperate' reason for reunion with Royal Family
It was reported last week that Prince Harry is seeking a reconciliation with King Charles and that his and Meghan's multimillion pound Netflix deal will soon come to an end. It was reported last week that a truce could be on the cards for King Charles and Prince Harry when aides for both royals met in London. Now a royal expert has had his say on the alleged reconciliation following reports that Harry and wife Meghan Markle 's lucrative deal with Netflix could be coming to an end. Robert Hobson reckons that Harry and Meghan are now looking for 'handouts' from the King after Harry caused controversy earlier this year when he told a BBC interviewer he was no longer in touch with the monarch. Speaking on the Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Jobson said: 'Well, the deal was always set at about $100 million, wasn't it? And the talk of that figure sort of blew a lot of people's minds, but I think that was for productions and things that they're supposed to have done. 'Where does it leave them? Probably with a bit of a bowl out, looking for some handouts. Maybe that's why they were over with their staff, were over here having discussions with the King. I don't know. 'The reality is in the past they got support from the King and the late Queen , and they said they were going to go and make their way. They've lost Spotify, they've lost Netflix. They can't rely on the spare money forever, can they?' Jobson was joined on the show, as writes the Mirror, by Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills, who voiced her own suggestions on what Harry and Meghan could be set to do when the contract with Netflix ends in September. She said: 'It's just fascinating. They have this very expensive lifestyle. They have to pay for their security, pay for that big mansion. How do you kind of keep the money coming in?' Reports surfaced earlier this month that Netflix will not be renewing its five-year deal - believed to be worth about £100million - with the Sussexes when it finishes up. Since signing up with the streaming giant in September 2020, they've collaborated on three big projects - their 2021 docuseries Harry & Meghan, Harry's polo documentary and Meghan's lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. However it was reported that the big-budget projects failed to bring in the audience numbers that Netflix bosses had wanted. With Love, Meghan was the 383rd most watched show worldwide while Polo came in at 3,436th place with just 500,000 views. Harry previously told Oprah Winfrey in a 2021 interview that the deals with the likes of Netflix 'were never part of the plan' but they were forced to take them on in the wake of them being denied official security following their exit from royal duties. He said: "That was suggested by somebody else by the point where my family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Harry Styles fans convinced he's launching sex toy range after cryptic clip
Harry Styles fans think that his brand Pleasing might be about to drop some sex toys – and they might actually be onto something. The Watermelon Sugar singer, 31, launched his brand Pleasing in November 2021, a pop-up focused on selling nail varnishes and marketed as unisex. The brand has since expanded and become an online shop with a permanent retail deal with Selfridges in London. The shop now has a range that includes perfumes, scarves, lip balms, tote bags, tees, and now… vibrators? Teasing a new launch on the website, Pleasing has informed fans: 'Something Pleasing, Coming Soon.' Pretty innocuous, right? But then there's this message: 'This page is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older.' So what is the product that's only suitable for adult eyes? Pleasing encourages fans to be the first to sign up to learn about the launch, by entering their contact information. After signing up, fans then receive an email that reads: 'Message received. You've been so good at communicating what you want. 'On July 25th we'll be ready to give it to you online and in person at 251 Elizabeth Street, New York City.' Give us what though? Of course, that's not the only piece of evidence that's getting fans in a tizzy. On social media, Pleasing has shared some promotional adverts. The first post showed a business card for 'Something Pleasing' being slotted into a flip calendar. The caption read: 'You forgot 251 Elizabeth Street N.Y.C. 25th of July.' The second was a video of a finger tapping out Morse code on a Telegraph key with a glass of milk in the background. A woman presses her ear against a door and then gasps when the code finishes. 'For those playing at home,' reads the caption, with again, a New York address and a date for July 25- 27. A third video, posted on Thursday, showed a woman dialling a phone. Then a mobile vibrates on a couch. Then several other phones began vibrating, answered with a gasp or a moan – hubba hubba. Finally, the shot cuts to a red dial-up phone with what appears to be Harry's tattooed hand picking up the phone to answer the call. 'Say that again,' read the caption. The vibrating phones, suggestive gasps and moans, and teasing captions about 'playing at home' have fans convinced…this is the start of a sexy launch. 'Is this something sex related? Like sex toys or lubricants related? lol sorry,' said- kyloyun_i.stagram in the comment section of Pleasing's Instagram. 'Woah I missed a chapter Harry Styles is selling what now?' said brookeybaxter. 'Oh so we are getting sex toys,' said 'Emphasis on the vibrations, can't wait til the BIG reveal,' said Oceangirlx. 'My bingo card did not include my first ever Harry Styles merch in 2025 being literal dildos and vibrators,' said cherrissue on X. While fans were slightly baffled by this possible new venture, many were over the moon and already preparing to part with their pay cheque to afford something from this new sexual wellness range. More Trending '@Harry_Styles can i klarna the pleasing vibrator?' asked noacfc**t on X. 'harry styles pleasing vibrator rumors got my kickin my feet (i will be buying it),' said musclemansmom5. Love Island star 'threatens to quit show' after reaching 'breaking point'
Love Island's Shakira Khan has reportedly threatened to leave the dating show after being caught in a love triangle with her ex Harry Cooksley and his new belle Helena Ford Love Island star Shakira Khan has reportedly threatened to quit the ITV2 dating show in scenes yet to air on TV. The 22-year-old hasn't had the easiest time in the villa so far, with the reality star struggling with ex Harry Cooksley being in the villa. Earlier this week, fans were left "concerned" for Shakira after she appeared "drained", having confessed to friend Toni Laites that there were unresolved feelings with Harry despite the fact that she was coupled up with Conor Phillips. She later ended her romance with Conor, telling him that she can't give him "what he needs". Now, there are reports that Shakira threatened to quit the show over the situation with Harry. A source told The Sun: "Shakira has been through the wringer and was already at breaking point over her heartbreak by Harry. "When Harry made it exclusive with Helena, everything unravelled and she realised she wasn't ready to be with Conor properly. She did the brave thing by ending that, but then the floodgates opened and she just didn't want to be in the villa anymore." They added that Shakira went to the Beach Hut and asked to leave the villa, with the duty of care team helping her "through her emotions". Afterwards, she decided to stay. The Mirror has reached out to ITV for comment. Despite Shakira's tough journey in the villa so far, many fans have taken to social media to comment on how "mature" she's been throughout her love triangle drama. "Shakira is the most respect, self aware, mature person in love island history, never mind the fact that she's only 22 #loveisland #loveislanduk," one fan wrote. Another tweeted: "Shakira is so real that she's willing to leave the villa without a man or winning instead of faking it with Conor till the end, if anything we can be proud of her for staying true herself but damn Harry?!? #LoveIslanduk #LoveIsland." Earlier this week, Harry decided to take his relationship with Helena to the next level, becoming exclusive with the fellow Islander. This was despite Harry offering a shoulder for Shakira to cry on over her ending things with Conor. Tonight's episode will see Shakira open up to Harry about her feelings, with Harry telling her: "I can read between the lines a little bit, but I don't really know exactly what you're thinking." Shakira then tells him that she still felt "very strongly" towards him and didn't know how to deal with the situation. "I just don't think that I really dealt with the situation how I should have dealt with it and maybe haven't processed things properly, and you and Helena being exclusive may have resurfaced things," she said. Harry goes onto tell Shakira that while it looks like he's moved on, it wasn't "one sided". He adds: "You'll probably disagree, but I felt it and like I say I haven't processed it and have tried to just get on with things." He then chats to Helena about his conversation with Shakira, with Helena asking: "Does that change anything for you?" ITV has a number of duty of care protocols in place, with Islanders receiving training before entering the villa with regards to language, behaviour and understanding mutual respect in relationships.
