Kate Middleton is no stranger to an outfit rerun or a statement heirloom. This particular prowess was on display again this week as the Princess joined her family at Westminster Abbey this Thursday for a commemorative service on the 80th anniversary of VE Day—held to honour the end of World War II in Europe.
For the occasion, she was styled in a familiar polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich, featuring long gathered sleeves, an eighties-style bodice and shoulders, and a high neck detail. The dress was previously seen on her at The Order of the Garter service in 2023, styled with a black and white fascinator and similarly coloured pumps. This time around, the tea-length dress was paired with a black Juliette Botterill fascinator, a nude bag and matching Ralph Lauren stilettos. Of most significance and the key accessory featured both times were her oft-worn Collingwood drop pearl earrings, once belonging to the late Princess Diana.
The Princess of Wales also wore the pearls often, including at the 1994 Vanity Fair party with her famed 'revenge dress'. However, one look of particular note was her ensemble at the Royal Ascot in 1988. The People's Princess wore a white polka dot dress, with a matching hat and two-toned shoes, much like Middleton's original look in 2023. Princess Kate has often paid homage to her late mother-in-law, and does so while shining a light on the British fashion industry and sustainability. Her look this Thursday was no different and was quintessentially reflective of her timeless style ethos of getting the most out of her wardrobe.
Take earlier this week, when the Princess wore a plum Emilia Wickstead coat-dress and Jane Taylor bow hat at the VE Day military procession. An ensemble worn initially in 2022 for the President of South Africa's state visit to the UK, her outfit also featured the heirloom pearl earrings. Hailee Steinfeld Marries Josh Allen During Intimate California Ceremony

LONDON, ENGLAND – APRIL 14: Hailee Steinfeld attends the 'Sinners' European Premiere at the Cineworld Leicester Square on April 14, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by) It's official! Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen have tied the knot in an intimate California wedding ceremony this weekend. The Sinners star was photographed walking down the aisle in a strapless and corseted column gown with an extravagant train. She paired the dress with opera gloves and a floor-length veil over a sleek bun. This seems to continue the sartorial trend of understated corseted gowns with dramatic veils as the go-to for starlets. Allen, 29, kept it classic in a black tuxedo and white shirt. In all candid photos, the newlyweds looked ecstatic to be celebrating the momentous occasion. The private ceremony comes only a few months after their engagement in November of last year, which the couple announced via a joint post on Instagram. In an interview with Who What Wear in February, Steinfeld, 28, was asked whether she suspected the waterfront proposal was imminent. 'Oh my God, no!' She told the outlet. 'You talk to your girlfriends about that, right, where you're like, 'I just don't want to know.'' She admits the memory of the moment is a blur, but it was 'magical' nonetheless. Hailey Steinfeld and Josh Allen proposal / Image: The couple have been linked together since 2023, keeping their relationship private for the most part. 'When you realise that so much is already out there in every other aspect of your life, you really learn to cherish the little that isn't,' Steinfeld reflected on the low-profile nature of their relationship. 'It just makes things extra special, and it's just for you.' Josh Allen, Hailee Steinfeld at the 14th Annual NFL Honors held at Saenger Theatre on February 06, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Variety via Getty Images) Despite this, they have not been out of the limelight entirely. After a year of dating, they went Instagram official in July 2024 , with Allen posting a snap of the two in front of the Eiffel Tower. Another key moment came earlier this year at the annual NFL Honours ceremony, where they made their red-carpet debut as a couple. Allen, a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, mentioned Steinfeld in his acceptance speech for Most Valuable Player. 'You've been my rock, you're my best friend,' he said. 'I would not be standing on the stage if it weren't for you.' LONDON, ENGLAND – MAY 13: Catherine, Princess of Wales tours design spaces with designer Patrick McDowell during a visit to the British Fashion Council to present the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, at the British Fashion Council at 180 Studios on May 13, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by Aaron Chown –) Princess Catherine is making headlines once again for her timeless yet contemporary style — this time, thanks to an olive green pantsuit by none other than Victoria Beckham. The Princess of Wales presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design to sustainability-focused designer Patrick McDowell during a ceremony hosted by the British Fashion Council. Held at 180 Studios in London, the event celebrated the best in emerging British talent, with Kate serving as the elegant yet powerful embodiment of the industry's evolution. Her look? A commanding yet feminine ensemble by Victoria Beckham, featuring the Patch Pocket Jacket and Alina Trousers in the muted, earthy 'Willow' tone — a choice that subtly nodded to nature and renewal while reinforcing her commitment to British design. (Photo by Aaron Chown –) It was a moment packed with meaning. Kate, who has championed sustainable fashion throughout her royal career, presented the honor to McDowell, a designer known for his circular luxury approach. But her outfit spoke volumes, too: a British-made suit by a female designer, worn while supporting the next generation of innovators. And while the significance was clear, so was the style. The sharply tailored silhouette featured utilitarian pocketing, crisp pleats, and Beckham's signature minimalism. Paired with a ruffled ivory blouse and understated gold accessories, the look struck a perfect balance between formal and fashion-forward. (Photo by Ilyas Tayfun Salci/Anadolu via Getty Images) Blouse: Suit: Heels: A Fashion Moment With Meaning Kate Middleton's choice of Victoria Beckham was more than a stylish decision — it was a strategic one. While she's previously worn Beckham's designs on royal tours, choosing the British designer's suit for this high-profile occasion was a powerful endorsement, especially amid ongoing media chatter around the Beckham family's public dynamics. (Photo by Aaron Chown –) It also marked a clear return to royal duties with purpose. By presenting the Queen Elizabeth II Award — which recognizes forward-thinking British designers — Kate not only celebrated sustainable fashion but also used her platform to uplift the creatives shaping its future. From the label she wore to the designer she honored, the Princess of Wales led by example. And with that, she reminded us that true style isn't just about what you wear. It's about the message it sends.
