Elton John and Chappell Roan did 'Pink Pony Club' duet for Oscars party AIDS charity event
Midwest princess Chappell Roan shared the stage with pop music icon Sir Elton John as the two performed at his annual Oscars viewing party on Sunday night.
John hosts an Academy Awards Viewing Party for his AIDS Foundation every year and this year's included Roan as his special guest. The "Tiny Dancer" singer was pulling double duty on Sunday night, as he was also nominated for best original song at the award show.
Roan performed a few songs, including her own "Hot To Go" and a cover of John's "Your Song," before the two musicians did a duet of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." Just before the night ended, Roan gave John a pink cowboy hat and expressed her gratitude to the elder statesman of pop.
"You have sacrificed so much for the queer community and you made it so I can be the artist I can be," Roan said, according to video from the night. "So thank you so much."
The two then closed out the show with Roan's hit song "Pink Pony Club," where John joined in at the choruses and danced on stage with his pink hat.
John shared a clip of their "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" duet to his Instagram and called it "nothing short of magical."
"For one night, we transformed West Hollywood Park into our own Pink Pony Club — a space filled with love and community, where everyone can be unapologetically themselves," John wrote.
The event raised more than $8.6 million, according to the Elton John Aids Foundation.
David Furnish, John's husband and chair of the foundation, called it an unforgettable night and thanked all of the participants and donors in a statement.
"Because of your generosity, we were able to celebrate with purpose, helping communities around the world access life-saving HIV prevention, treatment, and mental health support," Furnish wrote.
Video of their performances, especially the "Pink Pony Club" duet, circulated across social media platforms overnight. Fans described it as an emotional moment as two artists in the LGBTQ community from different generations joyfully came together for the cause.

Sophie went on to explain her husband's thoughts: "Ellis also doesn't speak Welsh and he is a very academically driven man, he did amazing in school and you know, he says 'I always remember my dad helping me with my homework, maths especially, so he's worried that if we send them to a Welsh school that he wouldn't be able to help them." Another said: "I went to Welsh school, parents struggled to help with homework but I liked my time at school. I didn't keep up my Welsh though and now not that confident to speak it. So if they do go encourage them to keep it up as there are lots of jobs that want specific Welsh speaking, especially in civil service. Sophie, who rose to fame on BBC talent show, Over the Rainbow, married Welsh rugby International Ellis Jenkins back in 2022. The couple first met when they were both just 18 years old. Speaking to WalesOnline previously, Sophie shared that despite their deep connection, they've faced their fair share of challenges. "When we were about 23 or 24, we went separate ways for just over a year and then realised, 'You are the love of my life' and we are meant to be together. The rest is history," she recalled. Indy Clinton has faced some not-so-subtle roasting following a meet-and-greet event in Sydney. The influencer, 27, who is the face of haircare label Bouf, was in the Castle Towers shopping centre in Castle Hill on Saturday to spruik the brand. However fans were quick to slam Indy after she shared a clip of the event to TikTok. The clip showed Indy dancing with abandon on a Bouf-themed stage to what appeared to be a smattering of Saturday shoppers. The mum-of-three looked very much in her element as she gleefully sashayed her way around the stage. A YOUNG woman has revealed that she ordered herself what she thought would be a trendy and pretty cake to celebrate her birthday. Eager to kick off her celebrations in style, Alexandra Tobie splashed the cash on a personalised birthday treat. 2 2 But when her cake arrived, the content creator was lost for words and left in tears by the fail. And not only have people said they 'wouldn't have paid' for the cake, but others suggested it looked like it had been made by a child. Posting on social media, Alexandra gave her followers a close-up look at the glamorous cake she had requested, as she wrote: 'What I ordered…' Alexandra had asked for a pink heart-shaped cake, with a bold black font that read 'That Girl Since '03'. The cake she had in mind featured incredibly neat piping around the edges and even had a glitter spray on it. But moments later, Alexandra shared a snap of what she actually got, which unfortunately looked nothing like she had hoped. While the cake was in fact pink, the black text was instead yellow and nowhere near as stylish. Not only this, but the cake itself wasn't the same heart shape Alexandra had asked for. And if that wasn't bad enough, the top of the cake featured a rogue blue heart, as well as a random splodge of blue icing, which appeared to be a mistake.
