Bethenny Frankel, 54, reveals what it would take to make her 'retire' from her business empire
But in a new interview, the 54-year-old Real Housewives Of New York City alumna admitted that it would take one major thing to make her finally give up the business empire she has cultivated since in recent years: 'a billionaire.'
And not just any billionaire, she told ADWEEK, but a billionaire with 'a big boat.'
After making it clear that her finances were doing just fine, the former reality star admitted: 'I would definitely retire — like, if I end up with some billionaire on some big boat.'
Bethenny — who put her Connecticut home on the market for $8 million last month — made the admission during a conversation on the main stage at the magazine's Social Media Week event while chatting with is chief content officer, Zoë Ruderman.
In the six years since she ended her second stint on RHONY in 2019, Bethenny has emerged as a social media star with 3.8 million Instagram followers and 2.8 million TikTok fans, and she added that she wouldn't be able to give up her newer passion.
Even if she gave up her regular business obligations to live the sweet life on a billionaire's superyacht, she thought she would still 'end up doing social media on the boat.'
In fact, she said she was even looking to hire more people for her social media team, and she joked to the audience, 'We'll hire everybody.'
Bethenny's most recognizable success, her SkinnyGirl brand, was first unveiled in 2009, the year after RHONY premiered. She began by releasing a diet book and a follow-up recipe guide, followed by an exercise DVD and an audiobook.
But the branding broke out with the release of her branded pre-mixed Skinnygirl line of margaritas.
Soon, the Skinnygirl branding had spread to a line of other popular cocktails, and the success of the diet-focused alcoholic beverages led Beam Global — now known as Suntory Global Spirits — to snatch up the line for around $120 million just two years after it was introduced.
But Bethenny saw the value in her Skinnygirl name and only sold the rights to the alcohol brand while allowing her to keep using the name for other products.
It was soon plastered across all kinds of foods, clothing, and most recently cookware lines that debuted in 2021.
The reality phenomenon expanded her empire into property flipping, which she collaborated on with Million Dollar Listing star Fredrik Eklund for the single-season reality series Bethenny & Fredrik, which aired from 2017 to 2018.
Bethenny urged influencers chasing her success to 'be honest' and 'authentic' and avoid 'kissing the a** of brands that don't notice them' for clout or deals; seen May 2 in Miami Beach
During her on-stage conversation, Bethenny — who shares her 15-year-old daughter Bryn Hoppy with her ex Jason Hoppy — gave some crucial advice for anyone hoping to have success rivaling hers: 'Be honest' and 'be authentic.'
Although plenty of brands and businesses claim authenticity in hopes of appealing to customers, she emphasized that the real thing — and not just empty talk — attracts fans.
She theorized that influencers who give fans a glimpse into their lives had become so popular in recent years because 'the world got so sick of filtered B.S.' that corporations had pumped out.
But she also called out influencers who went to extremes to pander to big brands in hopes of making a quick buck.
Part of staying true to yourself requires influencers to avoid 'kissing the a** of brands that don't notice them [or] care about them,' she said. 'They don't want you.
She compared those influencers who are desperate for corporate sponsorships to a high schooler 'trying to get the cool girl to be your friend.'
Earlier this month, Bethenny revealed that she had gotten slightly closer to her yachting fantasy after she and her daughter moved from New York City to Miami after Bryn had begged to move to the Sunshine State.
The social media star had planned a move to Florida years down the line, but after realizing that she was tired of spending much of her time in an isolating Connecticut mansion, she put it on the market and headed south.

Devil Wears Prada 2 major spoiler as Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci film telling scene
Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci sent fans into meltdown Wednesday when they were spotted reuniting on the New York City set of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The Princess Diaries star, 42 — who recently teased a major twist for the long-awaited sequel — slipped back into her role as Andy Sachs, while Tucci, 64, once again embodied fan-favorite Nigel. Hathaway confirmed last month that filming is officially underway, with the sequel slated for a May 2026 release — exactly 20 years after the original became a cultural phenomenon. Also back for round two? Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, who are both reprising their iconic roles. Plot details are still tightly guarded, but the new set photos speak volumes. Dressed head-to-toe in black, Hathaway's Andy leans on Tucci's Nigel as the two attend a funeral scene in a cemetery — a chilling hint that fans may be saying goodbye to a beloved character. True to her fashionista roots, Andy stepped out in a sleek black dress with a sheer neckline detail, layered beneath a sharp trench coat. Her brunette waves fall loose with a soft curl, while oversized designer shades help her keep a low profile amid the somber setting. Nigel, ever the style icon, cut a sharp figure in a tailored black suit, complete with glasses that gave him a serious, contemplative edge. At one point, he leans on an umbrella while walking in what appears to be the funeral procession, pausing only to support Andy at her side. Fans may be mourning a major character, and the pressure is on for a sequel that lives up to the original. The original Devil Wears Prada wasn't just a box office smash — it cemented itself as a cultural touchstone, turning Streep's Miranda Priestly into an instantly iconic character and inspiring a generation of fashion lovers to whisper, 'That's all.' With Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci all back in the mix — and a new roster of A-listers joining the chaos — the sequel is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movie events in years. David Frankel — who helmed the original 2006 smash — is back in the director's chair for the sequel. British actor Kenneth Branagh (left) appears to be enjoying his role as Miranda Priestly's (played by Meryl Streep, right) third husband during filming for the forthcoming Devil Wears Prada sequel He'll be joined by a star-studded cast that includes Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Pauline Chalamet, Kenneth Branagh, Tracie Thoms, B.J. Novak, and Justin Theroux. According to IMDb, the premise 'follows Miranda Priestly's struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement.' By the time the sequel hits theaters in May 2026, it will mark 20 years since the first film debuted — a movie that not only raked in $326.7 million worldwide on a modest $35–$41 million budget, but also became a pop culture phenomenon. The original scored two Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress for Meryl Streep, who also took home the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. It earned five BAFTA nods, three Golden Globe nominations overall, and cemented itself as one of the defining comedies of the 2000s. During an interview with WWD, Hathaway - who is also set to star in The Princess Diaries 3 - opened up about reprising previous roles. 'I was so beautifully cared for on both of those films,' she recalled, while adding that she had been young when making both The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries. 'I was so guided and looked after and cared for by the communities that made both of those films in particular, each of their directors, Garry Marshall and David Frankel.' She added, 'I'm so excited that now I can do that for other people, that now I have the knowledge and the experience and the confidence to take care of other people on sets in which I'm looked at as a leader.'

Disney's new ESPN app reaches for sports fans outside cable TV
LOS ANGELES, Aug 20 - Walt Disney's (DIS.N), opens new tab ESPN will deliver its full range of sports programming outside of pay TV for the first time starting on Thursday, when the network debuts an app designed to be a hub for live games and personalized news, stats and highlights. The ESPN app is Disney's effort to capture some of the tens of millions of customers that the pioneering sports channel has lost since 2010 during the streaming TV revolution. ESPN executives said they have tailored the new offering, which is far broader than the limited ESPN+ app launched in 2018, to cater to the tastes of today's sports fans. "We know that fans don't just want to watch," ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro told reporters. "They want an experience. They want to interact." The app will offer more than 47,000 live events each year from the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, college football, tennis, golf and other sports. It will cost $30 per month. An introductory offer will include ad-supported versions of the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services for free. Fans can enter their favorite teams and sports for customization such as a personalized version of the "SportsCenter" news and recap show. Artificial intelligence will generate narration based on the voices of ESPN anchors. A new feature called "Verts," or scroll-ready, vertical video highlights, also can be tailored. Stats for a user's fantasy players will be displayed next to live games. And an ESPN Bet tab will show live, settled and upcoming bets for users who have linked their betting accounts. Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger has called the app "a sports fan's dream." Industry analysts see it as a chance for the company to pick up fans who do not subscribe to cable, and they do not expect it will pull masses from pay TV. ESPN was available in 100 million homes through pay TV in 2010. In July of this year, that number stood at about 61 million. "It's another step in Disney's pivot to (streaming) and the importance to streaming to the overall company," said MoffettNathanson analyst Robert Fishman. ESPN will promote the app extensively. Actor John Cena will star in commercials that stress "All of ESPN. All in One Place." Pay television will "remain a big part" of ESPN's business, Pitaro said. For the quarter that ended in June, ESPN accounted for $1 billion of Disney's $4.6 billion in operating income, or nearly 22%. Most of ESPN's revenue came from fees paid by cable and satellite distributors and from advertising. Subscribers to pay TV will have access to the new ESPN app. Pitaro said the company hoped to drive all of its customers to the app "because that's by far the best, the most holistic experience."

Maury Povich calls out wife Connie Chung over dating history
Maury Povich called out his wife Connie Chung over her fling with an A-list lothario. Legendary daytime talk show host Povich made his grand return to the media in March with a new podcast. Chung joined her husband's show, On Par with Maury Povich, for its debut episode to discuss her latest memoir, which details her life as a trailblazing television news anchor and the unbelievable stories that came with it. The two recalled the beginning of their relationship while they were working in the broadcast news industry. Povich told his viewers that when Chung moved to California to anchor the news, she became a 'big star' and 'kind of messed around with stars'. 'Oh! You didn't?' Chung fired back. Povich burst out laughing and denied the accusation, but his wife speculated that he could 'name a few' celebrity women that he had been with during his early days as an on-air journalist. 'No, I didn't mess around with them. I knew them. You messed around with them. Okay, should I start talking?' he continued before revealing that his wife had a relationship with Hollywood icon Warren Beatty. Povich then joked that his sister used to say that 'every woman who came to California had to go through him [Beatty]. It was the immigration system.' Chung laughed and said that Beatty loved Povich's sister, Lynn, who was also a titan in the news industry, serving as Newsweek's first female senior editor. Chung added that she wasn't the only woman journalist that Beatty loved. Povich continued to recollect on his wife's dating history, revealing that she also 'messed with an Eagle,' quickly clarifying that he was referring to a member of the band and not a player on the Philadelphia Eagles. Chung confirmed the romance and admitted that when she met the band member, whose name she concealed, she didn't know he was a part of the iconic rock band. She recalled that when she went to the musician's home, he told her that he played in a band. Chung then boldly asked him to play her one of his songs, and he promptly began playing 'Hotel California' on the piano. Povich then clarified that his wife's escapades occurred when the two were merely dating and hadn't yet made their relationship exclusive. His wife made sure to get a few jabs in herself, claiming that Povich, 'couldn't even remember the first names let alone the last names' of the women he was with as a young broadcast journalist. The two went on to discuss their marriage, and Povich joked that Chung had been 'really [expletive]' to him during the release of her memoir. Chung released Connie: A Memoir last fall, which detailed her career as the first Asian woman to break into the broadcast news industry. Chung was the first woman and Asian person to co-anchor the CBS Evening News. She famously interviewed former President Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. Chung started her journalism career at CBS in 1971 in Washington DC and worked under Walter Cronkite. A few years later, she moved to Los Angeles to anchor local news.
