Michael Dunlop takes Supertwin glory to increase his Isle of Man TT tally to 31

It's Dunlop's second win of this year's TT. The Northern Irishman produced a blistering pace to win the two-lap battle.
Earlier in the day, Bradford's Dean Harrison won his first Isle of Man TT race since 2019 with victory in the Superstock TT.
The Honda rider overhauled Superbike TT winner Davey Todd to win by 11.656 seconds in the delayed two lap race. Dunlop finished in third.

'St Mirren's season was a success,' says Stephen Robinson

The Saints gaffer has reflected on a special season as he hails his players' for making the top-six for the third consecutive year. Stephen Robinson reckons St Mirren's season was a success as he took a final look at an action-packed campaign. The Buddies boss believes his side rose to the challenge in the second half of the season by breaking into the Premiership top six for a third successive year. ‌ At the beginning of 2025, Saints fans would have been forgiven for glancing over their shoulders and fearing a battle to beat the drop following four straight defeats. ‌ However, a 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie was a shot in the arm for a top-half spot. And wins over Rangers, Kilmarnock and Ross County got them over the line as Hearts fluffed their lines in a 0-0 draw at Motherwell in the final round of pre-split fixtures. Robbo's men then went on to have the best form of anyone in the top half after going unbeaten against Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibernian and Dundee United. Saints just missed out on making it back-to-back European adventures on the final day – but taking the fight that far was a measure of how much things turned around. 'From the second part of the season, I thought we were very, very good,' Robbo said in an interview with the club's media team. 'We played some really good football and had some pace and energy about the side. ‌ 'Our results are mirrored by the last five games in the top six where we managed to get nine points and remain unbeaten which was a very good achievement.' The Northern Irishman says it wasn't just a smash-and-grab in how they managed to pick up the points playing attractive football. He said: 'I alluded to the fact that the level of football – and standard – we were playing at to get into the top six at that stage was good. ‌ 'Overall, when you reflect on it, it was a hugely successful season and the consistency was the bigger thing. 'We are always trying to get to that stage [of playing nice football]. When you are winning games, and people are playing with confidence, that is easier.' By the season's end, St Mirren improved in many areas they were hoping to with the club ending the campaign with more points, touches in the opposition box, shots on target and goals scored compared with the last two seasons. ‌ New signings helped, with keeper Zach Hemming arriving back on loan from Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough. Ryan Alebiosu was a loan recruit from Belgium while free agent Declan John committed his future to the SMiSA Stadium. The Buddies even survived the late-season loss of top goalscorer Toyosi Olusanya – who joined MLS side Houston Dynamo in the United States for an undisclosed fee – thanks to Mikael Mandron and Jonah Ayunga finishing with a flourish. Robbo added: 'The personnel that we added and the people that started to come to form helped. ‌ 'Caolan [Boyd-Munce] was excellent in the last six months of the season. 'Ryan and Deccy gave us a different profile in the wing-back areas as they were more like wingers. 'And we played with real pace and energy with some of the one-touch football around the box which was very pleasing on the eye and good to watch; with it being something we will continue to do.'

Michael Dunlop: I'm not happy with just 32 wins at the Isle of Man TT

Dunlop will be in action on Friday in the second Superstock and Supertwin races before the prestigious Senior race brings the curtain down on Saturday. The Ulsterman extended his incredible tally of wins around the iconic Mountain Course with a double in the Supersport class on the Milwaukee Ducati and a Supertwin victory on his MD Racing Paton. Dunlop will take some beating in Friday's second Supertwin race (4:15pm) on the Italian machine in his quest for a third consecutive TT four-timer. He was a runaway winner of the first Supertwin race on Tuesday by more than 22 seconds from Manxman Michael Evans and should emerge victorious again barring any unforeseen issues. His task will be tougher in the Opul Superstock race on Friday (10:45am), when Dean Harrison (Honda Racing UK) is seeking a double. Harrison won the first race for his fourth TT win and his first since he triumphed in the 2019 Senior. The English rider set his fastest ever lap at 135.692mph and brings formidable form to the table, while Davey Todd is a former Superstock winner who is eager to make amends on the 8TEN Racing BMW after finishing second to Harrison. Dunlop – third in the first Superstock encounter after he was hampered by an electronics issue – will be looking to close the gap to Harrison and Todd on his MD Racing BMW. 'I want to still win races and I wanted to come here and get into the thirties, and we're into the thirties,' Dunlop said. 'I've got three more races to have a go at and I will definitely be having a go – it won't be for the lack of trying, so we'll see what happens.' Dunlop is on the brink of a 50th TT podium after breaking John McGuinness's record of 47 rostrums this week. The second Sidecar TT race (1pm) is part of a packed schedule, when Manx brothers Ryan and Callum Crowe will be the favourites after a dominant win and 121mph lap record in Monday's race.

Husband admits killing wife as she pushed baby in pram

A husband has admitted killing his wife as she pushed their baby along the street in a pram. Kulsuma Akter, 27, died after being stabbed several times in Bradford city centre on April 6 last year. On Thursday, Habibur Masum, Ms Akter's 26-year-old husband, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possession of a knife. He denies murder and is due to go on trial at Bradford Crown Court on Monday. The judge, Mr Justice Cotter, remanded him in custody until then. Ms Akter was taken to hospital after being stabbed several times during the incident in Westgate at the junction with Drewton Road. She later died from her injuries. The baby was not harmed in the incident, police said. At an earlier hearing, Masum, who followed proceedings with the help of a Bengali interpreter, denied two charges of assault, one count of making threats to kill and one charge of stalking. On that occasion, the court heard the allegations of assault and threats to kill related to two days in November 2023. Masum is accused of stalking Ms Akter between November and April, with the charge alleging he 'tracked her movements and located her at a safe house, sent her messages of a menacing nature which contained threats to kill another and photos and videos of the area and premises where she was residing'. He is also alleged to have 'loitered in the area of her temporary residence'. The charge alleges that he caused her 'alarm or distress' and to 'fear that violence would be used against her'.
