ESPN names 4 Georgia Bulldogs as preseason All-Americans
The Georgia Bulldogs have had four players named as ESPN preseason All-Americans before the 2025 college football season. Three of Georgia's four All-Americans are defenders. One plays at each level of the Georgia defense and all three defenders made the second-team. Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller, linebacker CJ Allen, safety KJ Bolden and punter Brett Thorson are the four Bulldogs named as All-Americans. Thorson, who is recovering from a knee injury, is Georgia's only first-team All-American. Thorson has resumed some punting and is on schedule, but it is unclear if he'll be ready in time for Georgia's Week 1 game against Marshall on Aug. 30. In 2024, Thorson averaged 47.6 yards per punt on 42 punts. His long was 60 yards and 22 of his punts went inside the 20 yard line. Linebacker CJ Allen is probably Georgia's most worthy player of being a first-team selection. Allen is the No. 1 ranked LB in the 2026 NFL draft and is expected to be Georgia's next great linebacker. Allen recorded 76 tackles and one interception last season. All of Georgia's four ESPN All-American selections also earned first-team All-SEC honors. Both KJ Bolden and Christen Miller are expected to have big seasons for the Georgia defense. Bolden and Miller both stood out in Georgia's most recent scrimmage. Bolden, a sophomore, is a former five-star recruit and is coming off a strong freshman season. Last year, Bolden recorded 59 tackles, one forced fumble, one sack and one interception. Miller posted 27 tackles and one and 1/2 sacks last season, but is set to take on a much larger role after over 75% off Georgia's sack production left this offseason. Sling TV launches a $5 Day Pass for commitment-free cable
Are you a TV watcher with commitment issues? Sling TV thinks it has the answer in the shape of its new one-day passes. The app-based alternative to traditional cable will sell you a $5 Day Pass that allows you to stream live TV (including sports)from any channel included in its Sling Orange plan for 24 hours. Sling Orange costs $46 per month and includes the likes of the Disney Channel and various ESPN channels (including ESPN 4K) as plan exclusives. You also get access to channels like TBS, TNT, CNN, AMC and Comedy Central that are shared across both Sling Orange and the more expensive Sling Blue plan. On paper, Orange seems like a good choice for sports fans, given ESPN's exclusive presence, but bear in mind that Fox Sports is a Blue plan-only channel. Sling TV's new Day Pass offering arrives just ahead of the new football season, and allows people who really want to watch a particular game without committing long term to do so. The streaming service is also introducing Weekend ($10) and Week ($15) passes for when you're hoping to catch multiple traditional Pay-Per-View events or binge a series on a single pass. You can access more channels by adding one of Sling's category-specific packages, like Sports Extra, News Extra or Entertainment Extra. Sling Extras cost $1 per package for a Day Pass, $2 for a Weekend Pass and $3 for a Week Pass. How much value you get from Sling's offering will depend on your viewing habits. If you find yourself buying lots of passes each month it's probably worth considering a standard Sling Blue or Orange plan, but if you're only interested in catching the occasional game, Sling TV's flexibility could be appealing. Report: Dana White Already Walking Back Claim UFC PPV Model Dies in 2026
While fans thought that the days of paying for UFC pay-per-views would end starting in 2026, it seems that future PPVs are still being considered by company boss Dana White. On Monday, the UFC dropped some huge news on fans with the reveal of their new television home. Starting next year, UFC Fight Night cards and PPV events will no longer air on ESPN platforms. Instead, their content is heading to Paramount+ and CBS in a seven-year deal reportedly worth close to $8 billion. What makes the move so momentous for fight fans, however, is the claims by CEO Dana White and the company that fans would no longer have to pay an extra $79.99 to watch PPV events in 2026. They would come free of charge with a Paramount+ membership. Well, not so fast, according to New York Post MMA reporter Erich Richter. 'UFC President Dana White tells me that the door is open for PPV sales in the UFC during this CBS deal,' Richter wrote on X. 'White tells me that an elusive 14th event could absolutely be put on PPV. 'Anything is possible. And you could do a one-off pay-per-view. I am going to be on pay-per-view this Saturday. Pay-Per-View is not dead,'' White told the Post. The idea of the UFC's PPV model being dead was a major angle pushed by the company in their statements regarding the news. It is not a great look that they are going back on that idea less than 24 hours after announcing the switch to Paramount+. The bright side is that it may just be one rare, mega event per year. Instead of one every single month.
