Starburster Fontaines DC

Economic Times13-07-2025
'Starburster' by Irish post-punk band Fontaines DC is a sonic detonation - equal parts panic attack and poetic catharsis. Inspired by frontman Grian Chatten's real-life breakdown at London's St Pancras station, the track channels raw anxiety into a blistering, genre-defying anthem.
From its opening gasp - literally, Chatten inhales sharply - the song plunges into a trip-hop noir landscape, where distorted strings and sparse piano swirl around a pounding, hip-hop-inflected beat. The lyrics are a fever dream of surreal imagery and visceral longing: 'I'm gon' hit your business if it's momentary blissness,' becomes a mantra of desperate pursuit, a threat wrapped in yearning.
What makes 'Starburster' beautiful is its refusal to resolve. It doesn't soothe, it sears. The song's structure is jagged, unpredictable, culminating in a lush instrumental interlude that feels like stumbling into a clearing mid-chaos. It's a moment of fragile serenity before the storm resumes.
Fontaines DC have always flirted with post-punk's edge, but here they leap into avant- garde territory. With James Ford's production and XL Recordings' backing, they fuse art rock, rap and electronica into something uniquely theirs. It's not just a song, it's a statement of intent.

‘Giant' trailer packs a punch

The official trailer for Giant, the much-anticipated biopic of boxing legend Prince Naseem 'Naz' Hamed, has been released by True Brit, offering a stirring first look at the extraordinary rise of one of boxing's most charismatic and controversial figures. Written and directed by Rowan Athale, Giant stars Amir El-Masry as Naz and traces the boxer's transformation from the gritty streets of Sheffield to international superstardom during the 1990s. The trailer bursts with adrenaline-fueled fight sequences, flamboyant entrances, and the emotionally rich journey of a young man who defied stereotypes and broke boundaries with flair and ferocity. At the film's emotional core is the powerful relationship between Naz and his Irish trainer Brendan Ingle, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan. Their bond, built on trust, discipline, and resilience, is highlighted as a key force behind Naz's rise to world champion status. Brosnan's portrayal hints at a heartfelt mentorship, adding emotional gravity to the sports drama. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Ali Saleh, Katherine Dow Blyton, Samir Arrian, Rocco Haynes, Austin Haynes, and Elliot Benn, all adding layers to the story of a boy who became 'The Prince.' More than just a sports film, Giant promises an introspective look at the price of fame and the internal struggles behind the spotlight. As the trailer boldly proclaims, this is not just about boxing—it's the untold story of the man behind the legend. While a release date is still under wraps, Giant is already drawing attention for its gripping narrative and transformative performances, and is shaping up to be one of the most awaited sports dramas of the year.

Archana Puran Singh keeps her fans entertained with her personal as well as professional life. She recently shared a vlog on her YouTube channel where she met Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur. In the vlog, she shared fun moments with the Bollywood stars. One moment that caught many eyeballs was how Archana Puran Singh praised the 'work ethics' nepo babies have. It started with Archana asking Ajay about the career option he would have chosen if it wasn't acting. He mentioned that he would have done something in the industry itself as his dad is in this field. Archana praised him, saying that when someone's parent is in the industry, they tend to adapt the work ethics faster. She said, 'One of the reasons people in the film industry prefer to work with actors from film families is because when your parents are already part of the industry, they instill a sense of professional ethics in you from the beginning.' Ajay, on the other hand, shared, 'You can't become a star on Day One. You have to first learn how to act. That's where some confusion begins. People outside the industry often think this business operates in a certain way, but it's not like that. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Irish homeowners eligible for solar 'bonus' if they live in these eircodes Activ8 Learn More Undo In the end, it all comes down to your hard work.' Archana further shared how she's a workaholic and can't go two days without working. She said, 'We go on vacations and yes, we enjoy a lot. However, within two days I start to feel like, why am I not working? I should be doing something. I just can't stay two days without working.' Sons Aryamann and Ayushmaan agreed with her.

Coldplay Kiss Cam Fiasco Finds A Fan In Ryanair Airline: "Splitting Up Couples"

Andy Byron, the CEO of Cincinnati-based tech firm Astronomer and the company's Chief Public Officer, Kristen Cabot, was recently caught on camera sharing a cosy moment during a Coldplay concert. The awkward moment went viral on social media platforms such as TikTok, Reddit, and X. While some criticised them, others were amused. Taking a hilarious dig at the incident, Ryanair - an Irish airline - shared a tweet, "Ryanair Coldplay splitting up couples." Ryanair Tweets About Coldplay Concert Viral Kiss Cam Video The joke compares Ryanair's policy of randomly seating passengers - often separating couples unless they pay extra - with the viral Coldplay concert video where a "kiss cam" shows the duo together during the song Another's Arms by the band. And the internet responded to it the only way it knows how - by turning a tweet into a comedy goldmine. "I've been waiting for your post (laughing emoji)," says a X user. Another user wrote, "Damn brah! hahaa." Another X user posted, "Hilarious". Know The Story The Irish airline grabbed headlines in May 2025 when they refused a couple to be seated together for not paying extra money to reserve seats. According to the Daily Mail, Scott McCormick and his girlfriend, Helena Boshwick, both 33, were set to fly from Birmingham Airport on May 1 to Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The couple chose not to reserve seats, which can cost somewhere between 4.50 and 33 euros, so they took the risk. "We checked in the night before, and we didn't reserve a seat, but you normally just get a random one. Me and my partner thought it's not that much of a problem if we're not sitting together for a two-hour flight, we're adults here," McCormick told Daily Mail. He further added that the lady scanned the couple's boarding passes and was asked to step aside, even when they were the first ones to get ready for boarding. "When everyone boarded, she said, 'The plane is full, there's only one seat remaining and we will have to reimburse you for the other seat or you'll have to get on the next flight'." The couple claimed that the airlines did not show any compassion, nor did they reimburse for the flight tickets. He felt that the behaviour was discriminatory and that the couple were singled out.
