Love Island USA star Cierra Ortega makes a shock exit from the villa following offscreen racism scandal

Daily Mail07-07-2025
Love Island USA 's Cierra Ortega was removed from season seven for past derogatory social media posts.
Just weeks after another cast member sparked backlash for past racial slurs and was booted off of the show, she was fired when fans uncovered another offscreen racism scandal.
On Sunday's episode, which aired on Peacock, narrator Iain Stirling confirmed that Ortega 'left the villa due to a personal situation' and had left Nic Vansteenberghe 'officially single.'
A following scene showed him talking to Ace Green and saying he wasn't sure what he would do next — which comes just one week before the season is set to conclude.
While she was filming in Fiji, sequestered from social media, a racist post from her Instagram was uncovered by Love Island fans.
This comes just weeks after Yulissa Escobar departed from season seven after being introduced as an OG islander.
By the beginning of the second episode, she was gone with Iain Stirling simply saying in the introduction that she had 'left the villa.'
The 27-year-old real estate professional from Miami had been booted in just the third day after videos surfaced of her using the N-word in a podcast.
After the swift removal of Escobar, many fans had been anticipating the same will happen with Ortega, a 25-year-old content creator from Phoenix, who arrived on Day 2.
Past Instagram posts have surfaced of her using a racial slur towards Chinese people in two separate instances many years apart.
One post from January 2015 showed a snap of her at the top of a mountain, using a version of the slur to describe how she smiles.
There was also an Instagram story post from February 2023, showing her getting Botox treatments, again using the slur to describe her smile, and many fans are furious, calling for her immediate removal.
One post from January 2015 showed a snap of her at the top of a mountain, using a version of the slur to describe how she smiles.
While it remains to be seen if the show's producers will remove her like they removed Escobar, Ortega has already taken a bit hit in regards to her Instagram followers.
She has lost over 200K followers in the past 48 hours after the posts first re-surfaced.
Ortega was poised to potentially cross the 1 million follower mark at some point during Love Island Season 7, but her follower tally now stands at 709K.
While she's currently coupled up with Nic Vansteenberghe as filming continues in Fiji, many are calling for her removal on social media.
A new Change.org petition calling for her removal was started days ago, when the Instagram posts first surfaced, which currently has 6,670 verified signatures.
One fan - @deannacortes - shared the petition link on X, adding, 'Send Cierra Ortega home,' with the hashtags #racist #LoveIslandUSA #stopasianhate.
Another X user - @ShaneAnime1990 - insisted, 'Cierra Ortega used a racist word now we have to cancel her if she did it once she'll do it again.'
Cass Rabbit (@cassrabbit) tagged both @LoveIslandUSA and @Peacock in her tweet, which read, 'Get Cierra Ortega off your show. This is now the third time I'm seeing she used the slur for asians. Y'all rightfully kicked off Yulissa for saying the n word, what about Cierra? Or does racism against asians not matter to you guys?'
Another X user - @h0td1lfj0hnny - asked, 'Why has cierra not been dropped from the villa,,,, she's f***ing racist using slurs.

Mai (@mainpopvirgo) said, 'yulissa said a racial slur (the literal nword) and was kicked out of the show (as she should) bc of the rightful outrage how is this different to cierra saying another racial slur she cannot claim'

Love Island bombshell Emma shares 'plans to pull' ex Harry as Helena oblivious

Love Island star Emma told Andrada she and Harry were 'meant to be endgame' in a chat that bothered viewers at home Love Island bombshell Emma sat down with Andrada to discuss what it's really like living with her ex Harry while he's coupled up with Helena. The star insisted she wasn't there to get back with Harry, but her recent conversation about her and Harry being ' endgame ' had fans rushing to social media to complain. After having a chat with Harry, she told Andrada: "It was just interesting, I can just tell he's not happy where he is. I just think it's so hard because we love each other, right? That's a really deep kind of love, but we're both like no, we know it doesn't work, we know it doesn't work." ‌ She went on to claim: "I don't think there's any point in trying again… but I think it's hard for him when I'm here. He can compare. He's seeing how this one behaves and this one behaves, and then there's me and we were supposed to be endgame." ‌ Emma believes 'something could be clicking' for Harry and he's slowly realising the women in the Spanish villa aren't "the perfect fit for him". The contestant continued: "I think if I was to say to Harry 'let's give it another go' he would be definitely open to it." When Andrada asked whether she'd give their romance another shot, Emma said: "I don't think I can. I can't." ‌ Andrada, unconvinced, said: "I feel like you do want to." Fans were skeptical of Emma and rushed to X/ Twitter to share their thoughts. One user said: "I am now convinced Emma has went into the villa to get back with Harry," and another posted: "Emma has given me the ick. Giving it all that saying she didn't come in for Harry…" ‌ "Harry's ex needs to go, it's enough now," one posted while one user commented: "Emma is literally only in the villa to try and get Harry back and it's so painfully obvious to the point it's boring." Meanwhile, Harry and Emma had a private chat by the firepit. Emma told her ex: "I don't think anyone has any, like, gauge on how deep our relationship actually was. I don't even want to upset the girls like if either of them saw us talking like this it's not nice is it? We're so comfortable." Harry, seemingly uninterested, responded with one word: "Dangerously." Things got weirder when Emma raised her arms and asked Harry: "Do you want a sniff? Yeah you do... I know you like to smell them." ‌ He later admitted: "It took everything not to sniff your armpit there", before adding: "It took all of me."

Starbucks reveals secret menu

Starbucks has finally pulled back the curtain on its new secret menu. The drinks giant unveiled four new drinks on Monday, freshening up its summer offerings. The drinks, which until now had remained a carefully guarded secret, are available on the Starbucks app's 'offers' tab. Starbucks lovers will be delighted that the four drink slots will rotate with new customizations throughout the season, the coffee chain confirmed. The first four new menu items include a blended Refresher, iced tea with popping pearls, cookie crumble-topped coffee, and a chocolate shaken espresso. The cookie crumble selection is a cold brew with two pumps of vanilla syrup, topped with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam and cookie crumbles. The new shaken espresso includes two pumps of white chocolate mocha sauce to an Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso. The drink is then topped off with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam. The latest Refresher flavor is Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade with peach juice, also topped with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam. Finally, fans can get their hands on a blend of black tea and lemonade accompanied by raspberry popping pearls. The secret menu is inspired by customers' own concoctions and fans are encouraged to submit their own customizations. If their beverage combination is selected for inclusion in the secret menu, they will be rewarded with a cash prize. The next round of submissions is now open until July 20. Finalists will receive a $5,000 cash prize and their creations will be available on the secret menu from August 18 to August 25. After consumers have had a chance to trial all the secret menu drinks, a final vote will take place for the best drink. This overall winner will claim a $25,000 grand prize. Starbucks recently announced its biggest hiring spree in history with plans to add 85,000 workers across its 17,000 US locations. The new hires will be expected to support Starbucks' efforts to bring back a more personal touch — including a new policy asking baristas to handwrite notes on customers' cups.

Love Island's Yasmin's secret twin sister Zara leaves ITV viewers in stitches as she recreates some of her sibling's most iconic one-liners

Love Island's Yasmin Pettet's twin sister Zara has sent ITV viewers into a frenzy as she recreated some of her sibling's most memorable one liners. The reality star, 24, has stirred trouble in the villa as one of the most iconic bombshells with her savage catchphrases. And now that she has become a fan favourite, her sister has taken to her TikTok to share a montage of her mimicking some of her best moments. In a clip posted to social media, she recreated the moment when the Islander told Harry to 'shut the f*** up and kiss her' in the Hideaway. She then continued by recreating the moment when Yasmin slammed Ben during a heated row as she delivered this line: 'Waste my money, waste whatever, don't f***ing waste my time.' And the clip was welcomed by fans of Yasmin as they flocked to the comments sharing their surprise between their similarities. One penned: ' I thought Yasmin got dumped and i missed a whole episode you look just like her. 'The mannerisms, the laugh, the voice? You guys are definitely related'; 'NO COS YOU ARE HER'; 'She looks like Yasmin more than Yasmin looks like Yasmin…' 'Slayyy and this woman is an Oxford grad!!!'; 'YOUR HER TWIN'; 'Vote for Yasmin and Jamie guys'; 'I wasn't a fan at first but now I'm starting to think she's iconic'. This comes after Love Island viewers were left stunned on Saturday night, after Yasmin appeared to directly address a popular fan conspiracy theory about her. The commercial banking executive has been plagued by long-running speculation that she is AI-generated since the start of the ITV2 series. The theory stemmed from fans clocking a string of 'glitchy' moments from her in the iconic villa, including her very upright posture while chatting with her co-stars and standing by the firepit, coupled with her slow blinking and formal speech patterns. It first gained traction after one fan took to TikTok to share a slew of clips of the Yas acting 'robotic', with the caption: 'Guys I'm scared... I think she's AI.' Since then the joke has snowballed, becoming a popular meme for this year's series, with fans frequently taking to affectionately refer to the sexy singleton as 'YasGPT' - in a play on AI chatbot, ChatGPT. She's definitely AI.' 'Convinced Yasmin is an ai bot sent from love island usa to cause havoc in the uk villa'; ''the batteries aren't 100%' did yasmin just confirm she is AI'. 'Are we sure Yasmin is not AI, she doesn't seem real'; ''the batteries are not 100%' yasmin is never beating the robot allegations i fear'; 'Yasmin is the certified first Love island AI icon'; 'I saw someone say Yasmin is AI and bro she is literally not real'; 'Are we sure Yasmin isn't AI robot?' 'Yasmin is almost a robot I'm kinda obsessed with it'; 'Yasmin wearing 80 denier tights during the height of summer in Mallorca proves she's AI because NO girl could survive that level of heat/friction'. 'Yasmin is never ever beating them AI bot allegations'; 'I actually love that we're seeing more of Yasmin's personality coming through. In true AI fashion she has learnt and developed. Sitting in the Beach Hut for a confessional, she was asked to show off her dance moves and immediately opted for the robot dance. She said: 'Oh my god, should I do the robot?' before letting slip: 'Everyone says I'm AI-generated anyway.' After attempting to her moves, she admitted: 'And I have to say, I am a real human. I'm not AI-generated, I wish I was though. I do feel like an alien sometimes.'
