KODA Integrates with Bitcoin Staking Chain Core, Paving the Way for Increased Institutional Adoption in Korea
Seoul, South Korea, March 21, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- KODA, the largest custody provider in South Korea, has integrated Core - Bitcoin's first Proof of Stake (PoS) layer and the largest Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem, making it the first Bitcoin scaling blockchain KODA supports. This development underscores the growing momentum of Bitcoin staking in a key crypto-active market.
For years, Korea has been a powerhouse in crypto adoption. Korean exchanges see billions in daily volume, and the country's retail traders shape global price trends. And, now institutional interest and adoption in Korea are on the rise, with KODA establishing itself as the market leader.
With this integration, users will gain access to CORE, the native token of the Core blockchain, while also contributing to the development of regulated Bitcoin staking services in the Korean market through KODA and Core as the regulatory landscape matures.
Why This is Big
KODA's integration means Core is now supported by the leading custodian in Korea. KODA, which already supports major blockchains like BNB Chain, Base, Polygon, and Solana, is now integrating its first Bitcoin-scaling chain. This marks a significant step forward in expanding Bitcoin DeFi in Korea, setting the stage for greater adoption and innovation in the space.
'KODA has established itself as a pioneer in the institutional space, bringing fully licensed and innovative solutions to institutions in Korea. We are excited to partner with such a trusted and forward-thinking company to introduce Core to the region—and, in time, unlock new opportunities for institutional Bitcoin yield. This collaboration marks an important step in expanding access to secure and scalable blockchain solutions for Korean institutions,' said Brendon Sedo, Initial contributor to Core
'As a leading provider of secure and trusted digital asset custody services for institutional investors in Korea, KODA is pleased to collaborate with Core to expand Bitcoin-based yield opportunities.
This integration marks a significant milestone in enhancing Bitcoin's scalability and utility, enabling institutional investors in Korea to engage with Bitcoin in a more efficient and regulatory-compliant manner.
KODA remains committed to providing innovative solutions that allow institutions to securely manage and utilize digital assets.'
— Jin-seok Cho, CEO of Korea Digital Asset (KODA)
Bitcoin Staking on the Horizon
Core is built to unlock Bitcoin staking, something that was previously only possible through centralized platforms. Since launching the offering in April 2024, over 6,000 BTC have been staked with Core.
With KODA's integration, Korean institutions will soon have the opportunity to explore Bitcoin yield powered by Core—directly, without relinquishing control of their BTC.
What Comes Next?
The integration is live, and Core is excited about its continued expansion in the Korean market
Core is currently listed on Bithumb, allowing access to the local market to use CORE and access on chain products
Preparing for potential regulation changes in the region that would enable institutions to access staking products with trusted custodians as the institutional on-ramp for Bitcoin yield in the region.
Based on recent developments South Korea is preparing to relax its restrictions on crypto trading for institutional investors, signaling a potential significant shift in the country's approach to digital asset regulation.
Although institutional investors are not explicitly banned, banks in Korea are restricted from opening crypto trading accounts on their behalf. This integration comes at a pivotal moment, as the country prepares to unlock institutional crypto investment with new guidelines due Q3.
Core provides investors with a secure and sustainable way to earn yield on their Bitcoin securely. Industry leaders such as BitGo, Hashnote, Maple, and Copper have placed their trust in Core. Additionally, this development will expand access to lstBTC, the liquid staking, yield-bearing token launched on February 17th through a collaboration between Core and Maple.

RenaissThera Achieves Discovery Milestone in Its Oral Obesity Drug Program
BENGALURU, India, June 09, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RenaissThera Private Limited ('RenaissThera'), a Bengaluru-based biotechnology company, announced a major milestone in its obesity drug discovery program targeting the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR). GIPR, an incretin receptor, is a validated target for peptide-based parenteral therapies where both stimulation and inhibition has shown efficacy in treating obesity and its co-morbidities. RenaissThera is developing novel, oral small molecules, both agonists and antagonists, as a more affordable and convenient alternative aiming to expand access for underserved populations in the global obesity market projected to reach USD 38 billion by 2032. Oral small molecules are more economical to manufacture and distribute than peptide-based obesity drugs. These molecules were designed and screened using proprietary AI and ML based platforms, followed by demonstrating in-vitro activity in cell lines and in-vivo activity to impact GIPR in mice to yield 'Hits'. RenaissThera now is advancing these Hits to the Lead optimization program to select candidates for pre-IND studies. RenaissThera is filing 'Composition of Matter' and utility patents for these oral novel small molecule GIPR modulators and continues to expand its innovation portfolio targeting GIP, GLP-1, and apelin receptors in obesity and diabetes. Its AI-powered Innovation Platform, integrating GenAI and machine learning tools, is accelerating the design and optimization of novel small molecules. 'We are grateful to our investors and collaborators for supporting us in reaching this milestone. Our team is focused on pushing candidates toward IND-readiness next year and we are in active discussions with potential pharma partners and investors interested in our obesity program,' said Meena, MD, CEO of RenaissThera. RenaissThera's progress was enabled through its collaboration with VedTechBio Research Private Limited which enabled access to its Agentic AI platform RxAgentAI and discovery expertise. 'We are very pleased with the outcomes of our collaboration with RenaissThera. This milestone further validates our platform and capabilities across key therapeutic areas including obesity, Type 2 diabetes, oncology, and inflammation,' said VedTechBio's Managing Director Sudhir Nagarajan. About RenaissThera RenaissThera is a Bengaluru-based biotech company developing affordable, AI-powered novel small-molecule therapies for high-unmet-need diseases like obesity and diabetes. More Crypto IPOs Are Coming: 3 Initial Public Offerings To Watch For
INDIA - 2024/04/07: In this photo illustration, a Bitcoin Logo seen displayed on a smartphone with ... More the Wall Street - New York Stock Exchange logo in the background. (Photo Illustration by Avishek Das/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images) Circle, the issuing company of the USDC Stablecoin, went public last week under the ticker 'CRCL'. The company's stock surged over 168% during its first day of trading, blowing investor expectations out of the water. Their wildly successful listing will likely trigger a rush of additional crypto companies to list or accelerate their plans to go public. I've put together a list of the top 3 crypto-related public listings that will likely make headlines in the months to come. Before we get to the list, let's quickly review the numbers of Circle's recent listing to grasp just how impressive the outcome was for its investors. Circle first announced its plans to go public on May 27th, 2025, though the company had filed for an S-1 registration with the SEC back in January 2024, which signalled its intention to go public. The company was initially targeting to raise $624 million by offering 24 million shares as part of its listing transaction. During the road show, the price was estimated at $24-$26 per share. Due to strong demand, the company increased the offering to 32 million shares at $27-$28 per share, upping the amount raised to $896 million. Even at the increased valuation, the company received 25 times more demand for the shares than expected, meaning the deal was 25 times oversubscribed. To put this in context, this implies that there was demand for ~850 million shares vs the 34 million that Circle was offering for sale. Part of the excitement came from the fact that ARK Invest and Blackrock had strong demand to invest. Circle finally penned the deal by selling 34 million shares at $31 per share, raising a total of $1.05 Billion and valuing the company at $8.1 Billion on a fully-diluted basis. During the first day of trading, the company's share price rose by 168%, closing the day at $81.69. This valued the company at ~$20 billion. While the excitement around Circle's IPO is partly rooted in the optimism surrounding U.S. dollar pegged stablecoins, the deal also implies strong investor interest to participate in the future of the digital economy that's being built around Bitcoin and digital assets. You can bet that other companies in the space are observing the deal with optimism and will likely work to accelerate their plans to list this year. Here are the top 3 companies that have announced or reported plans to list in the months ahead: Gemini As reported three days ago, the U.S.-based crypto exchange owned by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, filed for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the U.S.. In terms of projected valuation, the company has not yet reported a price, but its last priced round back in November 2021 valued the company at $7.1 Billion. The estimated listing date is late 2025 or early 2026. Kraken The San Francisco-based exchange has also been reportedly getting ready for an IPO in early 2026, although no formal registration has been filed. The company's last priced round was all the way back in 2019, when it raised $13.5 Million at a $4 Billion valuation. The company has reportedly been working with banks to complete a debt offering to boost growth ahead of the listing. Bitgo Back in February the U.S. based custodian was reported to be eyeing an IPO 'as early as this year', though no formal registration has been filed yet. Bitgo's last priced round was done in August 2023, valuing the company at $1.75 Billion. These are just three companies-- after Circle's warm welcome, you can bet that there will be more announcing plans to list soon. In a market where Bitcoin Treasury company stocks and Bitcoin ETFs are performing so well, equity from companies that provide the infrastructure for the industry seems like a logical next step.
