Cincinnati Bearcats guard Luke Kandra
A constant for Cincinnati Bearcats football the past two seasons on the offensive line has been guard Luke Kandra. After two stellar seasons of missing no starts, the former Elder High School Panther appeared to be primed to be selected in Saturday's later rounds of the NFL draft.
But, after a day of waiting and seeing teammate John Williams get picked late by the Green Bay Packers with the 250th of 257 picks, Kandra's name was not called. The upside of that in the late rounds, is a player can pick a team where they may have a better shot at a roster spot.

"We're just figuring that out now," Kandra said April 26.
The broad-shouldered guard should have no shortage of suitors and Bengals president Mike Brown even made a point to speak with Kandra when he appeared at the local college workout the team annually holds for potential players.
Still, there was no hiding the disappointment from Kandra.
"It was a shocker," Kandra said. "But, I've got more fuel to the fire (now)."
Kandra's comments were brief as his agent was ringing him up to discuss future plans. The Enquirer will post those plans as soon as they are made public. By many draft ratings, Kandra was the highest-rated Cincinnati Bearcat available Saturday.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Kandra is nearly 24 years old and was married last summer. He was recruited out of Elder by Scott Satterfield at Louisville and followed his coach to come home and play at Nippert Stadium with the Bearcats. In addition to his blocking, he earned an MBA at UC.

Kandra is strong, throwing up 33 reps of 225 pounds at the NFL Combine, the best of any offensive lineman. At UC, he was only whistled for one penalty over two seasons. Both seasons he was named First Team All-Big 12 and both seasons he helped clear the way for Corey Kiner to run for over 1,000 yards.
Dartanyan Tinsley
Kandra's linemate Tinsley, who now checks in at 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds, told The Enquirer he had signed with the Cleveland Browns Saturday. That pairs him with former UC defensive lineman Jowon Briggs, drafted by the Browns last season.
Cincinnati Bearcats offensive lineman Dartanyan Tinsley signed a free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns April 26.
Tinsley will have no shortage of quarterbacks in Cleveland to protect as the Brown took both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the draft.

Reports: Colorado's Deion Sanders has unspecified illness
Colorado football coach Deion Sanders is at his home in Texas dealing with an 'unspecified health issue,' ESPN reported Tuesday. Sanders, 57, was away from campus as the school's annual summer football camps began last week, according to USA Today. The Pro Football Hall of Famer's oldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., said his father was 'feeling well' in a livestream on YouTube Sunday, but there is no timetable for his return. 'He'll tell y'all soon enough what he's going through, what he went through,' Deion Jr. stated, according to USA Today. 'When we get back to Boulder? I don't know. I'm waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I'll go. Until then, I'm going to sit here with him.' Colorado opens the season at home against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. The Buffaloes finished 9-4 (7-2 Big 12) in Sanders' second season in 2024 but lost two of their most high-profile players -- Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback (and coach's son) Shedeur Sanders -- to the 2025 NFL Draft. Deion Sanders has dealt with health problems in the recent past. He had two toes amputated in 2022 due to blood clots and also missed the Pac-12 media day in 2023 because of blood clots in his legs. Sanders had been scheduled to speak last weekend at a medical conference in Florida but had to cancel. 'Due to an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change, our originally scheduled Foundation Keynote Speaker, Deion Sanders 'Coach Prime,' is unable to attend. We are grateful for his support and look forward to future opportunities to welcome him,' the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research posted on X. --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved

Texas WCWS final win sets ESPN record with most-watched College softball game ever
Texas WCWS final win sets ESPN record with most-watched College softball game ever ESPN reported that the decisive Game 3 of the championship series averaged 2.4 million viewers and peaked at 2.7 million, making it the most-watched NCAA softball game ever. The Texas Longhorns made history at the 2025 Women's College World Series, capturing their first-ever national championship and setting new television viewership records across all three games of the finals. ESPN reported that the decisive Game 3 of the championship series averaged 2.4 million viewers and peaked at 2.7 million, making it the most-watched NCAA softball game ever. Games 1 and 2 also broke records, each averaging 2.1 million viewers—the highest ever for the opening two games of a WCWS final. Game 1 peaked at 2.8 million viewers, while Game 2 reached a peak of 2.6 million. The all-Texas matchup between the Longhorns and Texas Tech Red Raiders marked the first time since 2004 that both championship participants hailed from the same state, reviving the storied rivalry from their Big 12 days. The series spotlighted a marquee pitching showdown between Texas ace Teagan Kavan and Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady. Kavan, who entered the finals with a perfect 3-0 record against Canady, extended her dominance to 5-0 after two more victories in the championship series. Fans were treated to a dramatic three-game set. Game 1 delivered a classic pitchers' duel, featuring a controversial obstruction call and a bizarre game-winning hit for Texas in the sixth inning. The Red Raiders bounced back in Game 2, capitalizing on Texas errors to force a decisive Game 3. In the winner-take-all finale, the Longhorns erupted for five runs in the first inning, forcing Canady out of the game. A grand slam sealed Texas' commanding victory and their first national title in program history.

Broncos' Sean Payton Impressed with Frank Crum's Play
Broncos' Sean Payton Impressed with Frank Crum's Play originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Broncos more than likely have their starting offensive tackles set in stone for the 2025 season. Garrett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey – who played the overwhelming majority of the Broncos' snaps at left and right tackle, respectively, last year – are expected to reprise these roles in the fall. Advertisement The makeup of the depth charts behind Bolles and McGlinchey at both tackle spots is less of a certainty, with multiple players on the Broncos' 90-man roster vying for game time reps. Among the offensive linemen competing for the team's swing role is Frank Crum, who received praise from head coach Sean Payton for strong play during OTAs. "He's extremely athletic. It's always harder on the big guys because we're not in pads. He can move his feet really well," Payton told reporters on Thursday. "Again, he's a young player who, when you go through these installations – and for him, it's his fourth or fifth time now – you're able to play a little faster.' Wyoming offensive lineman Frank Crum (OL13) during the 2024 NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Lee-Imagn Images Crum originally signed with the Broncos as a free agent after all 32 NFL teams passed on him during the 2024 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-7, 315-pound offensive tackle went on to appear in six regular season games during his rookie season, playing eight snaps on offense and an additional 24 on special teams, according to Pro Football Focus. Advertisement Prior to joining the Broncos, Crum played six seasons of college football at Wyoming, where he appeared in 55 games and started in 48 of them. He redshirted in 2018 and served as a backup for much of the 2019 campaign, but he took a starting job with Cowboys the following year and kept it for the rest of his collegiate career. While in Wyoming, Crum was named to the All-Mountain West Third Team in 2022 and was elevated to the First Team in 2023.
