Irish holidaymakers told 'never wear' 2 items to airport or risk delays
It turns out that certain fashion choices could seriously slow you down at security or passport control, according to a leading travel expert. The warning comes as Dublin Airport braces for one of its busiest summers in recent years, with passenger numbers expected to surge.
With things like tight security, long queues and early morning flights already enough to test anyone's patience, even the smallest mistake can cost you valuable time. And now, two everyday items are being singled out as potential problems.
Travel specialist Pearlyn Yeo from Jetpac shared her essential advice for a smoother journey with Mirror UK, and it could save Irish holidaymakers time and hassle at the airport.
The expert explained: "Keeping sunglasses on or wearing headphones through passport control can cause unnecessary delays and stress. These accessories can make it harder for border agents and automated systems to confirm your identity or get your attention. Both facial recognition gates and human officers rely on clear eye contact and unobstructed facial features. Sunglasses can interfere with the technology and an officer's ability to assess your behaviour and demeanour.
"Headphones, on the other hand, can distract you and mean you miss important instructions - both of which can slow down the process. As well as removing the above accessories before heading through security and passport control, it's important that travellers are prepared.
"At Jetpac, we advise all travellers to keep their documents digitally and ensure they are easy to access. eSIMs can help to organise everything you need. But it's also wise to know when to put your devices and any other distractions away. For example, when going through immigration. Removing accessories and putting devices away shows that you're ready and also that you respect certain protocols.

With this in mind, it's best to remove headphones, pack away phones and tablets and pop your sunglasses safely away before you reach security, passport control or immigration.
"In doing so, you're more likely to breeze through border control and you won't have to worry about unnecessary delays or stress."
As well as ditching the two problematic accessories, Jetpac also recommends keeping your travel outfit practical. Avoid overly tight or bulky clothing, and opt for breathable layers and comfortable shoes. Any metal-heavy accessories or clothing could also lead to further holdups during security checks.

Kicking off the day with a hearty full Irish breakfast at a cafe is the dream for many and an American couple on their travels in Ireland were eager to see what all the hype was about. Joey and Lauren, who run a YouTube channel, have been exploring the Emerald Isle, taking in sights across Cork, Galway, and Dublin. It was in Dublin that they sampled their first-ever full Irish – although not every component was to their taste. Before diving into their critique, Joey had a word of caution for the Irish audience, pleading for understanding. "Please don't take it as a diss," he implored. "On one of the videos the other day, one of us said something about the food being a bit gross and we use that word very loosely in America. "But oh my God, some people took it really bad and they took it that we were insulting the country. Guys, trust me, we love Ireland." With that disclaimer out of the way, let's delve into how the duo found their straightforward breakfast at Fair Play Cafe on York Road in Dublin. Priced at €8.95 each, Joey remarked: "Cheap, good price. Could be called Fair Price Cafe but it is called Fair Play Cafe so fair play them, glad to say we did that." Tucking into their breakfast, both were full of praise for the eggs and beans, with the sausages earning special commendation. Lauren enthused: "I will say I really like the sausages here. It tastes way different but I really like the taste of it, it tastes good." Yet, despite enjoying the start of the meal, Lauren wasn't taken with the white pudding and approached the black pudding with trepidation. She expressed her apprehension: "Oh my God. I'm actually scared. I am going to get my napkin ready. I don't know if I am over reacting or if I am going to like it so ..." Having researched black pudding's origins earlier, Lauren responded: "It tastes like white pudding but slightly different but I don't like the taste. I actually chewed it. Don't hate me, don't hate me." She continued: "I am probably being a bit more dramatic but I did not like the taste. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't eat it again. I thought the white pudding was better." Joey concurred: "Same here, I mean, I'm not going to be finishing that to be honest but I could eat it." The rest of the meal, including the Irish butter and bacon, was a hit, and overall, the breakfast met their expectations – except for the puddings. "We are sorry we didn't like the black or white pudding but I guess I could see if you grew up eating it you wouldn't pay attention to what it is made of. Obviously we just couldn't get past that fact." He further stated: "I am glad we tried it though. I didn't want to go away having a full Irish breakfast and not going the full length." US college football game in Dublin expected to generate €130m for Irish economy
The Aer Lingus College Football Classic game between Kansas and Iowa State University will be held on Saturday, August 23, and has been described as the most competitive to take place on Irish soil. It is expecting to bring in 24,000 international visitors, mostly from the US. Grant Thornton's figures show three previous games held in Ireland brought €382m into the economy. The 2025 game will bring that figure up to €512m, it said. The game – which is expecting to attract viewership figures of 4.5 million when broadcast live on ESPN – is described as a high-profile opportunity to promote Irish culture by the Government. Tourism Minister Peter Burke said it will boost Ireland's tourism profile. 'Not only will the event generate significant revenue in August, the extensive coverage of the game in the USA will also put Ireland's vibrant tourism offering in the shop window for those planning a trip in the future,' he said. This series also delivers trade, tourism, business, community engagement and economic benefits A week-long run of business and political events are scheduled to take place, including an Irish-US CEO Club, where up to 450 senior executives will attend. In previous years, golf resorts around the country were among the big winners, as groups of visiting fans opted to extend their stays well beyond the day of the game. The match and the associated events are being supported by Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Enterprise Ireland as part of a strategy to leverage international sporting events. Stay near where Netflix's Wednesday was filmed in Ireland
Spooky hit show Wednesday is back on screens for its second series - which was filmed in Ireland. The Netflix gothic comedy is the biggest ever show on the streaming platform and Irish fans in particular will be excited about season two. The Addams Family spin-off - which features Jenna Ortega in the lead role of supernatural sleuth Wednesday Addams - was filmed in Wicklow, Offaly and Dublin. The dark fantasy's first series was filmed three years ago in Romania but makers moved production to Ireland for the new one. Tanaiste Simon Harris met with its legendary director Tim Burton and crew on location in Co Wicklow for what is said to be the biggest production ever in Ireland. Dramatic landscapes can be seen throughout the series, including Powerscourt Demesne in Enniskerry, with its waterfall and gardens, as well as the mountain village of Roundwood.
