Carter was thinking of getting into team ownership, but was thinking more along the lines of the NBA, when Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula let it be known they were looking to add minority stakeholders. Carter jumped at the opportunity and, at Bill's camp, he talked with Chris Vinel of the Daytona Beach News-Journal about it.
'I've sat with the GM, president, owner, the big boss,' Carter said. 'I've sat with everybody, and we've had conversations, and I just listen and learn. I don't just want to have a name on it. I want to be involved.'
'I'm thrilled to be a part of it,' he said. 'I never imagined in my wildest dreams of being a part of an ownership group in football. Luckily, I played it (until after my freshman year at Mainland High School), so I feel comfortable being in it. But I didn't think this opportunity would come about, and it did.'
Carter is not the only minority investor, among the group who bought in is Carter's cousin and fellow basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady (it was McGrady who turned Carter on to the opportunity). They bought into a Buffalo team that is among the Super Bowl favorites — in a tough East with Kansas City and Baltimore — led by MVP quarterback Josh Allen.
'I like what we're doing,' he said. "... Feeling good, feeling confident. Nice pieces that we've drafted and got in free agency.'
It's fitting to have Carter owning part of a Buffalo team not far from where he made his name as a player in Toronto — expect to see him at a lot of Bills games this season.

In his first season with the Browns, Jerry Jeudy established himself as the top receiver among the corps, leading the pass catchers with 90 receptions for 1,229 receiving yards. They also have young players in Cedric Tillman, David Bell, Jamari Thrash, and Michael Woods II. The tight end room is led by David Njoku, who had the second-most receptions for the Browns in 2024 with 64 for 505 receiving yards and five touchdowns over 11 games. On defense, the Browns signed DE Myles Garrett to a contract extension that goes through the 2030 season, but they also signed multiple players to help fill in their defensive line with DT Maliek Collins and DE Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Will the Browns' free-agent additions pan out? The Browns added DeAndre Carter, who is likely the favorite to handle return duties in 2025. Cleveland needs explosive plays in the return game after ranking 30th in yards per kick return (24.8) last season. Carter, who ranked second in the league in yards per kick return (31.9), could provide that. Teven Jenkins has started 38 games in four seasons, most prominently at left guard the last two years. With Joel Bitonio returning for a 12th season after contemplating retirement, the addition of Jenkins could also be a move for the future. Tryon-Shoyinka has never registered more than five sacks in a season. His 6.0% pressure rate last season tied for 106th out of 190 qualifying pass rushers. Joe Flacco spent the 2024 season with the Colts, appearing in eight games and starting six of them. He completed 162 of 248 passing attempts for 1,761 passing yards and 12 touchdowns. Flacco returns to Cleveland after joining the Browns in Week 12 of the 2023 season. He started five consecutive games beginning in Week 13, and during that stretch, the Browns went 4-1 with Flacco at quarterback. His tenure was highlighted by the Week 17 win over the Jets on Thursday Night Football that officially clinched their playoff berth – their first playoff appearance since 2020. While in Cleveland, Flacco completed 123 of 204 passing attempts for 1,616 passing yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season. How did the Browns approach the NFL draft? NBA prospect Ben Henshall has re-signed with the Perth Wildcats in a significant boost to the club's NBL championship hopes. Henshall put himself on NBA scouts' radars during a breakout campaign with the Wildcats last season, earning a nomination for the NBL's most improved player award. Lakers jersey history No. 2 — Kenny Carr
Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. We now take a look at Kenny Carr, who played for the Lakers in the late 1970s. Carr was a big star during his college days at North Carolina State University. He got two first-team All-ACC nods, and in three years at the school, he averaged 20.6 points and 9.2 rebounds a game. He also got himself a gold medal with the United States men's Olympic basketball team in 1976. In 1977, the Lakers made the 6-foot-7 forward the No. 6 pick in the NBA draft. In those days before the curtain rose on the Showtime era, they needed talent to put around Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and it was hoped that Carr would help in that regard. But he didn't. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in 15 minutes a game during two seasons and change with Los Angeles, and the team sent him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a trade early in the 1979-80 campaign. Carr's production would improve somewhat after that trade. He ended up playing 10 seasons in the NBA with four different teams, and he had career averages of 11.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
