CANTERBURY INSIDE MAIL
RACE 1: 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN (1100m)
SWORDPLAY (11) is a sister to the five-time stakes winner Recommendation who won a Bletchingly Stakes on a Heavy 8. This filly led all the way for a big win on a Heavy 8 in her Apr 29 Warwick Farm trial and was ab even bigger winner her May 9 Rosehill heat. PENPEL (2) had shown nice ability in her trials and debuted with a second behind the impressive Agarwood at Warwick Farm on May 7. Will take improvement from the experience. MISS LOLA (7) is a granddaughter of Group 2 winner, Vormista. Nice effort to win her May 22 Warwick Farm trial.
BET: SWORDPLAY to win.
RACE 2: 2&3YO MAIDEN (1250m)
INDIGO STAR (5) ran some handy races in his first campaign including a three-quarter-length second to Llewellyn on a heavy track at Kembla. Has been gelded and closed nicely in both trials this time in. GUNROOM (1) is knocking on the door having placed in four of his six starts. Led when runner-up to Maori Chief on the Kensington two starts back before being caught late by Hopper at Warwick Farm on May 7 after eyeballing the leader. PROVISEUR (4) came from back in the field for fourth when resuming in that same Warwick Farm race. Inconvenienced near the 200m when sixth to Inside Man here on debut.
BET: INDIGO STAR each-way.
RACE 3: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1250m)
QUEEN'S RHAPSODY (5) resumed for a new stable with a smart win from Missie Lee in a Provincial 3YO Maiden at Hawkesbury on a Soft 7 May 15. Placed second in both runs here behind Flying For Fun and Gerringong last November. Wide gate the query. STRAAND BEAUTY (1) led and got to the middle of the track looking for better ground before being caught late by Dashing Rupert when resuming on a heavy track at Kembla. Placed second to Outback Miss at her last run here in February. TITANIUM MISS (4) dropped in class when second to Bend The Knee at Wyong before a close second to Equilibrist at Kembla.
BET: QUEEN'S RHAPSODY to win.
RACE 4: BENCHMARK 72 F&M HANDICAP (1550m)
ERAANTYVA (8) settled well back before closing strongly to be beaten just over a half-length when third to Piperita over 1400m on the Kensington on Apr 25. Again settled back when fifth to Drift Net over 1300m at Warwick Farm. Up to 1550m here, drawn to settle closer. Can give this a shake. CANARA (2) was held up from the 400m to the 300m when a two length third to Maori Chief when resuming over 1300m on a heavy track on the Kensington on May 14. Will appreciate the step up in trip. JUST FEELIN' LUCKY (1) scored a handy first-up win at Newcastle before a second to Drift Net at Warwick Farm.
BET: ERAANTYVA each-way.
RACE 5: BENCHMARK 72 C,G&E HANDICAP (1550m)
HELL TO PAY (7) kicked off his preparation with a second behind the promising Engine Room over 1250m on the Kensington before a neck second to Maori Chief over 1300m on a Heavy 8 on the same course. Looks ideally suited stepping up to 1550m. PINK SHALAA (8) ended his last campaign with a well-deserved win from Up To Mischief over this track and distance after placing inn his previous five starts. Resumed this time at Warwick Farm on May 7 without a trial when a length-and-a-half sixth to Secure. INVADE AND CONQUER (9) was caught on the line when a nose second to Hyperbolic at Kembla last start.
BET: HELL TO PAY to win.
RACE 6: BENCHMARK 72 4YO+ HANDICAP (1250m)
ONE DESTINY (1) led all the way to beat Wave Breaker at Warwick Farm on Apr 16 before a handy third to Able Willie at the Hawkesbury stand-alone meeting on May 3. May not have handled the quick back-up when last behind Lulumon at Gosford on Cup day a week later. MOGWAI (2) made his debut for a new stable at Kembla on Dec 28 where he led all the way to beat Tartana. Stepped up to city grade second-up when a close third to Zondee at Rosehill over 1500m. PESCHIERA (10) returns to Sydney off a nice all-the-way win at Sandown-Lakeside.
BET: ONE DESTINY to win.
RACE 7: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1900m)
KENMARE BAY (10) is knocking on the door. Was caught wide early and worked forward to get outside the leader when sixth at Gosford. Was checked early and then raced keenly when third to Ella Hazel on the Kensington last start. Gets a nice run from the good gate. MILLIE DE LUNE (12) scored a big win from Pieronimo in a Newcastle Super Maiden on May 3 before a fourth to Warrior For Peace at Scone on Cup Day. DYNAMIC ONE (9) was runner-up to Taumata at Wagga before coming to town when second to Ella Hazel on the Kensington.
BET: KENMARE BAY to win.

Dubbo best bets, inside mail for Friday, June 6, 2025
Racenet and The Daily Telegraph form analyst Shayne O'Cass provides his best bets and quaddie analysis for Dubbo on Friday. The Form: Complete NSW Racing thoroughbred form, including video replays and all you need to know about every horse, jockey and trainer. â– â– â– â– â– DUBBO TIPS BEST BET Race 1 No. 1: FUEL THE JET Six-year-old having only his second start but it talented. Drawn one. NEXT BEST Local juvenile on debut from a top yard armed with some excellent trials. VALUE BET Race 7 No. 11: CUMNOCK Has the lowest rating in the field but is a local on the way up. QUADDIE Race 5: 1, 10 Race 6: 2, 6, 11, 7 Race 7: 1, 11 Race 8: 1, 2 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW KODY NESTOR could skip out to an early lead in the TAB Jockey Challenge. INSIDE MAIL - DUBBO FUEL THE JET (1) was bred to win the AJC Derby; his sire Starcraft did as did another one of his close relations, Dr Grace. Fuel The Jet has spent plenty of time in the hanger bearing in mind that this is the six-year-old's second start. Has talent, trialled well. ANDALE (2) makes his debut at home from a good draw. Trialled well three times, two of them here at Dubbo. Vormista's son, BEAUMISTA (4) sent out good signs first-up. Hails from an astute stable. Bet: Fuel The Jet to win BLUE DE BEERS (2) is a Clint Lundholm-trained local dealt the visitors draw but there are only nine runners so it could have been worse. Both trials have been fantastic but he is giving away race experience to all rivals. The only winner in the Goblet is JOSEPHINE (3) who beat the Star Kingdom winner, Gemologist at Gunnedah. REGAL PROBLEM (6) ran third to Hidden Motive on debut. LORD VETTORI (4) could be saved for another venue on another day given the draw. In his absence, all roads lead to CURRUMBIN ALLEY (1) who is bred to be a miler, maybe even more, so all credit to the son of Vancouver (out of a Savabeel mare) for his half-length second at Gunnedah over 1250m. Drawn 1, 1300m and every extra metre assists. GRANDINI (10) was passed late first-up by Zelestial who might be above average. SPEEDY HENRY (2) has two wins and a third from four starts. He was $3 in a TAB Highway on April 26 at Randwick and had excuses for what was still a pretty creditable run. He's not an outright 'good thing' here but it would be hard to make a case for something to beat him. The one most likely, if at all, is the Brett Robb-trained WASTED DAYS (5) who might well go around later in the day as an emergency (Race 6). INVASIVE (1) has come back really well. ZELESTIAL (10) came to Australia with two runs in Ireland on her C.V, the first was a fifth to subsequent Group 3 winner Givemethebeatboys. The Lyle Chandler-trained daughter of Zoustar trialled like a bomb before her winning debut at Tamworth where she got a great ride. Scratched from Taree on Thursday to run here. WILLINGA KARISMA (1) has the home ground advantage. She's never been closer to a win. MISSY MOSS (9) has a bad draw but Bullock will help with that. PRESSNELL (2) is a genuinely talented son of Press Statement, hence the name, think Max. This big, bold gelding has a win, a second and two fifths from his four starts. This was already a very winnable race for the Mack Griffith-trained galloper but his chances went up when he drew 2 and Bullock booked. SORRENTO PALACE (6) aims to, and can, snap a sequence of three consecutive seconds, keeping in mind that the last two were by very narrow margins indeed. Bet: Pressnell to win, quinella 2, 6, box trifecta 2, 6, 11, 7 CUMNOCK (11) has the lowest Benchmark rating in this race; he's on 60, the ones at the top are both on 77. That said, he is a last start winner on the move. Was to run in the Highway on Saturday but is way down the list so run here instead where he is two from two at the track and trip. IRON HAT (1) has won six races with 12 placings. Famously unlucky at times, the Jan Bowen-trained chestnut has mixed and matched it in better races than this. ZAKOR (4) is good enough to win most country sprints; this one included. RHYTHM IS A DANCER (2) has won seven races in 27 starts with eight placings which is a fine achievement on his, and trainer Brett Cavanough's, behalf. Among those wins are a Country Cup at Scone and a Spring Cup at Tamworth where he beat Russley Crown each time as it happens. Walked in at Inverell last start. This is harder if only for the presence of another good, old trusty Scone resident namely THE DRAMATIST (1). That said, he needs things to pan out for him but when they do, he's city class.

Kimochi heads into unknown for Queensland Group 1 double shot
Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Gary Portelli is striving for his first Queensland Group 1 and is set to give strong mare Kimochi two chances in quick succession to pull off the heist. The Stradbroke Handicap has been the main goal for the Yulong-owned Group 1 winner right from the start of her preparation which included a trio of runs in the Sydney autumn carnival. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Best laid plans have been tweaked with the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup rescheduled to Saturday after being one of the races washed out last Saturday when jockeys complained of poor visibility. But Warwick Farm trainer Portelli said Kimochi will still race in the Kingsford Smith on Saturday as a pipe-opener to the Stradbroke seven days later. He admits the seven-day back-up is a step into the unknown for Kimochi, but feels it could even suit her. • $8000 filly who 'walks like a duck' spices up Stradbroke field 'She will run on Saturday, it's a Group 1 race, and I couldn't go to the 1400(m) of the Stradbroke with her straight away given she has had a big gap between runs,' Portelli said. 'A high pressure handicap like the Stradbroke, they have got to be fit. 'We have never had to back-up before, the program has never had us having to back-up. 'But she is a very tough mare, whenever she races she is normally primed the week afterwards. Gary Portelli is confident Kimochi will handle the back-up into the Stradbroke Handicap. Picture: Racing Photos via Getty Images 'You actually think to yourself that she looks better the week after, than what she did leading into the race. 'She does cope with pressure, she's a big strong mare and she has been in work for ages. 'It's not like she's coming out of a spell and she's going to be too fresh or underdone. 'She has got a good fitness core.' • Waller gives hobby trainer reason to believe in Stradbroke fairytale Craig Williams rode Kimochi to Group 1 glory in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield last spring and the pair will reunite at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Kimochi is rated an $11 chance in the Kingsford Smith and is the same price for her main mission of the Stradbroke seven days later. Nine-time Group 1 winner Portelli has had some terrific horses campaign in Queensland, including Rebel Dane who finished seventh in the 2014 Stradbroke which was won by Queensland bolter River Lad. But he hopes Kimochi can give him his first Sunshine State Group 1. 'The plan is she will take her place in the Stradbroke, unless we race below expectations this Saturday,' Portelli said. Gary Portelli with Craig Williams and Yulong's Sam Fairgray after Kimochi won the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. Picture: Racing Photos via Getty Images 'From the time she came into work this preparation, the Stradbroke was in my mind the goal. 'We have drawn a fantastic barrier (three) in the Kingsford Smith, so she is going to get a soft run. 'That's important because going into the Stradbroke, she is not going to have a gut-buster and be trapped wide or doing work. 'She will get a nice run and accelerate in the straight, if she runs top three then I would be over the moon from a Straddy point of view.' • Maher filly making right noises for Oaks upset repeat Lindsay Park co-trainer Ben Hayes has indicated Rise At Dawn – the winner of eight from 15 starts – will take his place in the Kingsford Smith before being unleashed on the back-up in the Stradbroke. The Lindsay Park dynasty may have its best chance to crack its Stradbroke duck, with raging favourite War Machine ($3) set to be joined by Rise At Dawn ($11) in Queensland's most prestigious race. Rob Heathcote still hopeful Rothfire can recover in time for Stradbroke Handicap
Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Recovering Rothfire is some chance of conjuring a Stradbroke Handicap 'miracle' after improving 'enormously' when a foot infection broke. Trainer Rob Heathcote said his remarkable Group 1 warrior is a 'slim chance' to line up in the Stradbroke on Saturday week but his prospects have improved. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Heathcote gave Racenet permission to publish video of Rothfire swimming and walking and also an image of the area of concern in his hoof. 'Rothfire has improved enormously, he was swimming this morning,' Heathcote told Racenet. 'The infection was tracked to a coronet band (soft, fleshy area at the top of the hoof where the hoof wall grows) and it (the infection) broke out. 'He's not 100 per cent, but improved enormously when this happened. 'It was a miracle that he raced on earlier in his career after sesamoid fractures and surgery. 'He now needs another miracle to make the race. 'He will not run unless 100 per cent sound. 'I am still happy with his fitness levels.' Heathcote said Rothfire would still need to pass vet and stewards checks but if he continued to improve in the next 48 hours, he was a chance to take his place in the Group 1 Stradbroke on Saturday week. Rothfire is recovering from a hoof infection. Pictures: Trackside Photography, Rob Heathcote stable Seven-year-old marvel Rothfire, coined the 'Thriller from Chinchilla', turned back the clock when producing an incredible run in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 to only narrowly be beaten by Sunshine In Paris. But he then suffered what Heathcote initially believed was a stone bruise. In latest betting, Rothfire is a $26 chance in the Stradbroke on Saturday week. He had been slated to race in the Kingsford Smith Cup, which was originally meant to be raced last Saturday, until the issue surfaced.
